Causes: Community Foundations, Philanthropy
Mission: The Santa Fe Community Foundation, founded in 1981, is one of more than 600 community foundations in the United States. It is governed by a single philosophy: people working and giving together can make a difference, and charitable money that is invested will grow to have a remarkable impact long after it is initially donated. We improve the quality of life for people in Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico, now and for future generations, by:
· Building and managing endowment funds in order to award grants· Helping nonprofits operate more effectively· Convening area residents to discuss issues of critical importance to the community · Providing leadership for key community initiatives
Geographic areas served: Northern New Mexico
Programs: Donors may give to a variety of Foundation funds. Many donors give to our Annual Sponsors Fund, allowing the Foundation to use the funds as needed and to ensure continued operations.
Individual donors may establish donor advised endowed or nonpermanent "gift" funds or designated endowments. These are pooled and invested by our respected asset managers. Donors advise where to make grants, working in collaboration with our program department.
Funds are established with the donor's interest and are often named to memorialize a family.
