There are few things as tragic as a malnourished child. And situations where children have enough calories but are malnourished because they are missing vitamins or micronutrients are particularly tragic.

My Rotary club, The Rotary eClub of Silicon Valley, recently launched our third podcasting channel called Development Success Stories. From our library of hundreds of nonprofit presentations, we selected SANKU to be the first nonprofit to showcase.

Why? Because it features the elements that we look for:
• Significant impact
• Cost-effectiveness
• Scalability

A modest amount of money at Sanku goes a long way. A more significant contribution could transform a generation of children.

You can see or listen to our podcast called Ending Malnutrition: https://open.spotify.com/episode/2gC66dGzd9Wlke2qOFG7tX

This is not an endorsement by Rotary International or the Rotary eClub of Silicon Valley, just my experienced opinion having look at 100s of non-profits.

I collaborated with Sanku to produce a short documentary on their work in Kenya and Tanzania. I loved every moment of the experience and felt supported throughout the entire project. It was a privilege to work with Felix who was on board from the start and supported the vision of telling a creative and emotionally engaging story.

A particular thank you to Nelson who was instrumental in ensuring that everything ran smoothly whilst we were shooting and was continually engaged with discussions about the film until it’s completion.

I would happily work with Sanku again. It was a privilege to be up close capturing the important work they do and seeing firsthand the impact it has on urban and rural communities. Everyone at the Sanku offices were lovely and welcoming and you could sense the passion and dedication to creating long lasting positive change with their communities.

Sanku is a pioneer in the Fortification arena in Tanzania, specifically focusing on the small miller who serves the rural communities, that cannot access the products that are fortified by large-scale millers in Tanzania. It is important to note that the majority of Tanzanians live in rural areas and depend on the flower from maize harvested from their farms. In this regard, they are touching the community that is most in need of nutrients given the fact that malnutrition has an urban-rural divide, and those living in rural areas as the most affected compared to those living in urban areas.

Sanku are one of my favourite non-profits as there are few non-profits that can impact so many children for relatively so few dollars.
The concept behind Sanku is incredible and the idea of buying flour bags in bulk to offset the millers cost for adding beneficial ingredients is fantastic.
On top of that the people of Sanku are incredibly passionate and mission driven and fully appreciative of the opportunity they have to impact at scale.

We have worked with SANKU on Nutrition policy dimensions in Tanzania, SANKU being a nonprofit organization has been very instrumental in advancing the nutrition agenda in Tanzania. As part of Development Partner in Nutrition-DPG and thematic working group SANKU has improved the nutrition situation through introducing micronutrients components which is very key in addressing the hidden hunger resulting from inadequate intake of micronutrients.

Sanku's dedication to combating malnutrition by fortifying staple foods with vital nutrients is incredibly commendable. Knowing them for many years, I can say what's truly impressive about Sanku's approach is its simplicity yet immense impact. By working with local millers to integrate essential nutrients like iron, zinc, and folic acid into flour during the milling process, they're making significant strides in improving the health of communities.
Sanku's innovative and sustainable model ensures that fortified foods reach those who need them the most, especially in regions where access to diverse, nutrient-rich foods may be limited. They're not just addressing malnutrition; they're empowering communities and creating a sustainable solution that positively impacts generations.
Their dedication to collaboration with local governments, communities, and businesses showcases a holistic approach towards tackling a complex issue. .
Overall, Sanku's commitment to innovation, collaboration, and sustainable solutions makes them a beacon of hope in the fight against malnutrition. They're not only changing lives but also laying the groundwork for a healthier and more prosperous future for communities around the globe.

I have had the opportunity to get to know Sanku and its impressive work over the last few months. Sanku operates a truly scalable and sustainable model that addresses a tremendous gap in current national fortification efforts. Sanku’s efforts stand out as an important pillar in addressing the SDGs. Adequate nutrition is the foundation for health and long-term economic prosperity. Sanku’s model is well thought out, staffed with local experts, and built with a focus on market saturation and long-term sustainability. I highly recommend this organization.

I work as a consultant in the philanthropy and sustainable finance sector and have been diving deep into Sanku's work over the past few months. I am completely blown away by Sanku's transparency, progress, big bold vision, efficiency, and innovative approach to such a widespread (TOTALLY PREVENTABLE) problem... the team is humble, dedicated, and incredible impressive. It's no surprise the recognition they've been getting globally from funders, publications, and awards. 10/10 recommend
