I have recently joined the SEF Tri-State N.J. Chapter and have found the experience very rewarding. My first volunteering experience was running the SEF booth in the India day parade. I met a lot of people and was able to share our mission. I found that once people know our mission they readily contibuted towards our goal. For our second event I was more involved and became a core team member for the event. Or was one of the first kind in NJ and we were able to pull it off beautifully. I am very proud to be part of this organization that is focused on such a noble cause.
Shankara Eye Foundation has been doing an excellent work providing free eye care to millions of people who otherwise would have gone without sight. A small donation of $30 can give a huge gift of eye sight to an unfortunate soul. Please donate as often as you can.

Sankara eye foundation is one of the renowned and well known eye care hospital in India. They provide excellent service and very good treatment to patients with advanced technology. The infrastructure of the hospital is good. The hospital is well maintained and hygienic.
Wonderful job by Sankara eye foundation which provides the help for the poor and needy people in India. I wish you keep doing the good work.
A fluke interaction with a Sankara volunteer about 10 years ago was the beginning of a wonderful association. It is rare to find a more dedicated group of folks who are really working for the betterment of our organization.
Give generously, knowing that all funds are stretched to the max.
We are always willing to answer questions and provide information requested.
Come and join the Sankara Family.
Being in India, I see their service to the blind and they are making the Hospitals self sustaining. This non profit is the best help for the blind poor Indians.

I have been tracking Sankara Eye Foundation for quite sometime now because I first felt they were trying to imitate SankaraNethrayala and get some mileage out ot it. But I realised this was a highly motivated and dedicated team out to eradicate blindness all over India. I was there at their Bangalore Hospital inaguration and they have a concrete plan to open new hospitals almost every six months and make it self sustaining in a few years and at the same time serving the poorest of the poor with international quality eye care.Hats off to the team.
A great organization led by passionate volunteers to eradicate blindness of the poor in India. 20 hospitals by 2020 - crossed half the distance in less than 10 years! A remarkable achievement in deed! The beauty of the approach by SEF is creating accountability by the recipient hospitals to be self sufficient within 5 years of operation by balancing paying clients with charity effort. A novel charity effort with accountability!

I have witnessed first hand the dedicated service by Sankara Eye Foundation, USA and it's counterapart in Coimbatore. They not only have the vision (20/20 by 2020), but orhganizational ability to flawlessly execute that vision. It can easily be compared to Gates Foundation in terms of its laser like focus in dedicattion and service. With strong support of the volunteers, I can clearly see the day when they will have one hospital in every state and complete a million surgeries in India!
SEF doing a wonderful job by providing the free eye surgeries in India. They have opened new hospitals and facilities, covering wider parts of India. We have a plan to open 20 hospitals by end of 2020. I am proud to be assoicated with SEF.

SEF have the great vision of achieving vision of 20/20 for every person struggling with their blindness in india by year 2020. I have been involved in organizing some of the event for SEF at Detroit, Michigan. It has been quite satisfying to know that you are working for Non Profit Organization which does so many great things. What i like most about SEF, is that they have united the people of all religion, caste and state to one common cause - remove blindness by year 2020. I also feel that they have outstanding management and administrative team who work hard to make sure that every dollar is spent wisely.
Susan from S.E.F. was amazing.... not only was she super informative, she turned me on to www.fixmybadcreditreports.com which was a lifesavor. Thank you Susan!!!

I am Sandhya Ashwini Kumar I belong to a Charitable Organisation called the Ladies Circle India and have been involved with Sankara Eye Care Hospital in Bangalore in their Project "Nanna Kannu" .Our Project Vision has been made successful because of this. They have helped us get eye care in the true sense across to the economically backward community by conducting free eye camps in the schools associated with us and funded by us.
My husband had recently participated in the SEF's half marathon and I did assist with filling water in the cups for the runners for some time. It was a great experience and felt good at heart to offer such help to the runners and to the organization as well. Kudos to the Organization as well as the people who run it & who devote their time ,energy and money to organize such events, wherein such monetary benefits goes to the poor and the needy. Most of all, we should be proud to be associated with such an organization who helps someone to see the world!!
It is my honor and privilege to be associated with such a fine organization that has been working tirelessly to help cure blindness in India with innovative programs and care facilities in various parts of India. It is amazing to see how within a decade Sankara has built state of the art hospitals in various parts of India and providing ongoing support to spread the eye care that is necessary, especially in rural parts of India. I am glad to be a donor to such a worthy cause.

I felt the enthusiaum and energy in all. I felt thier desire to help needy. It was an incredible experience working with SEF.
One of the best non-profits organization I have experienced. I (unfortunately due to time constraint) cannot volunteer with them but I do attend many of their events (fund raising). What I like about this organization is the low overhead. Most of my $$ goes to the right cause. This is possible with dedicated force of volunteers. The cause is very noble. "Eye sight" being very much integral part of a life and that is what they attempt to restore.
I volunteered for them during a TANA event. They were dedicated and have good organizational skills in arranging. I visited their hospital in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh and was really impressed with their work.

I spent last summer volunteering for the Sankara Eye hospital in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The experience was beyond what I could have hoped for. I had the opportunity to attend the Gift of Vision camps as well as a Diabetic Retinopathy camp and speak with the villagers. The individual stories that I heard were heart rendering and changed greatly influenced my perspective of rural healthcare. I also had the opportunity to teach a spoken English class for the nurses and vision care technicians who were hired from rural areas. Overall, it was a fabulous experience and I would love to be involved with this organization again.
i have seen the Commitment in the staff of Selvasa hospital for their patients. SANKARA EYE FOUNDATION USA sankara is doing
We congratulate We have a big vision - Vision 20/20 by 2020 - at least one Sankara Eye Hospital per state by 2020.
I am from the same native place India where the SEF headoffice and prime action is taking place. Have been able to personally verify their extraordinary work to the poor, annual camps, free surgery for thousands. Really impressive and I am deeply moved by their selfless dedication and service. Looking forward to promote their services and their whole set up in every possible way in all corners of te world.
Spent one day as a volunteer and the servuice done here is very holy ,the main target is the poor community ,may GOD bless all.

I have been with this institution since 2 yrs providing professional service to children in treating eye diseases and education over eye problems. This is a very honest , transparent organisation in providing eye health services to poor.
I came to know this organization SEF through one of my best friend. The main objective of this organization to help and eradicate the eye related issues. I think that this is one of the best service in the world. Vision is primary factor for the humans and this organization is helping for that.
i have been associated with this place for a very long time and i feel very comfortable working here because it provides me with ample opputunities to work for the poor.
My daughter and son in law worked in SEF SEF is great organization and working towards great cause of eradicating blindness
it is a wonderful and successful mission they have started which is giving vision to so many needy of the country
i went there as a patient and was treated really well with utmost care.i was very satisfied by seeing the meticulous care they take.
When I joined as Stores Incharge, i satisfied with my work and then promoted as Facility Supervisor from last one year. I am fully satisfied with my work. I got encouragement from my seniors and guidance from our CMO. With the blessings from our beloved MD, I am enthusiasly doing my work and I learned disciplene and honesty in my work.
i came across sankara eye centre two times . it was wonderful example of community eye care.seci one of the best community eye care provider in terms of visual outcome.
the care and professionalism exhibited at Sankara eye hospital is remarkable. Especially i had a experience when few of my colleagues got their parents treated for cataract . The dedication and thorough detailing has helped us to understand the importance of post operation care. Also i have noticed the large number of people who belong to weaker section of society getting treated daily totally free of cost.
My cousins, my parents and my uncle/aunt and my grandparents are all volunteering for the organization- so I did volunteering too.
i have been associated with sankara for a very long time and i found it to be a very rewarding place when it comes to learning and treating patients.
Accidentally came across Sankara Eye Foundation and learned both the problem of blindness in India with about one fourth of the blind population of the entire world and the solutions SEF is providing through the Sankara Eye Society with an ambitious goal of "Vision 20:20 by Year 2020" to eradicate the curable blindness. I believe we are already on our way to reach our goal with about eight Hospitals and two more underway in drawings and eventually to have at least one Hospital in each State in India and with about one hundred thousand free eye surgeries a year going forward. I am glad to be a minute part of this Organisation with a humongest Goal. All the Volunteers are committed and the Board is forthcoming with the implementation of the Volunteers input and suggestions, however slow it may be but understandably. I am involved with some other not-for-profit organisations but I strongly belive there is no other organisation like SEF/SES comibination both in visualising, planning and implimenting the projects and utilising the resources with a very highly visual daily participation and personal encouragement by the Founder and the (past?) Presidnet (of SEF) Muraliji himself driving the volunteer force with a force and cordinating every aspect with the very highly respectable and Founding Managing Trustee of Sankara Eye Society Dr.Ramaniji at the other end. I feel I am as lucky to have an opportunity to be of some service to those patients through SEF as those beneficiaries of the SEF/SES's services. The business model is very effective and practical and the Management and especially the Volunteers who are the eyes, ears and hands of any successful service organisation are commendable partners and collegues for me. We also believe SEF's administrative overheads are the lowest of any such organisation.
I have been volunteering for a few years- since my family, including my grandchildren have been working towards this cause. I have volunteered in serving food, collecting tickets at events and other event related activities. I also got my sister's operation done at the hospital.
I was a volunteer for Sankara Eye foundation in many events. The SEF team is really dedicated and emotionally attached to the cause. I have also seen the work of sankara eye foundation on the ground. There is no better feeling in the world than to see a letter from the person who received eye sight thanks to your donation.
working with this hospital is one of a kind and i am thankful to Lord to help me be a part of the same
being associated with sankara with the past 6 months,i have realised that it is a fantastic example of how an institute on such a large scale can serve people with such unselfishness and sincereity
seh is a voluntary organisation witch is doing yomen service through sankara eye care institutions and perticularly s e h shivamogga
I found that every staff member, starting from the Managing Trustee downwards, had one thing in common viz. to give to the community they live in, something they own. So much so, the firm I was working with for providing this consultancy, decided to waive off all charges for as long as their mutual association continues.
SEF is one of the most organized non-profits in the South Asian Community I have seen. In addition, each member of the team and volunteers is really passionate about the mission. The reason why they are so successful is that they are making amazing progress on their mission of building eye hospitals in India to give people vision. The leadership is excellent and all events and projects are done with high quality.
after working in sankara eye foundation for a long time, i feel this is the right place for a person to get his eyes evaluated and get operated on...its a place where you feel like working in a homely atmosphere and giving your best to the patients.
I personally experienced with Sanakara eye foundation that the foundation doing camps in rural areas to earadicating the curable blindness. The foundations helps most of the poor and needy people in the eye care.
We have seen SEF work and are impressed that From one Sankara Eye Hospital in Coimbatore to eight Hospitals all over the country in such a short time. we have also met surgery patients who were neglected in their family due to blindness, are now productive and are earning money & respect both . One blind begger from tribal villege Kukarmunda who was treated , thanks to Sankara EF support, has started seeing the world , post surgery; has vowed to start his tea shop & stopped begging. This is the social impact SEF has done, God Bless SEF & its hospitals
Great organization - great service. I love being part of an organization that brings quality eyecare to poor people. They restore sight - what a great gift to give!. It makes me feel good that for a few dollars I can do so much.
The gift of vision is indeed marvelous! I have danced at the SEF Dandia at Santa Clara for several years. The volunteers are dedicated and sincere. They take time away from their busy lives to support this cause. I know that there is much cruelty in India and children are blinded by horrendous kidnappers. I hope this charity helps restore their vision and lives. Since you ask me to be candid, I should mention that my sister told me that she tried to get our maid treated for a cataract through SEF, but the wait list was too long and they were not very considerate. Eventually, she paid for it. Not sure if this was the red tape or simply supply vs. demand. She asked me not to discourage the volunteers by revealing this story. But, I think you can find justice if you speak up. I would still rate this one of the best nonprofits - many of my close friends are involved in this and I know they toil!
Sankara Eye Foundation was started with the intention of gifting vision to many people with visual disability & providing free help to the economic backward class who find it difficult to afford medical failities. This foundation was the dream of many individuals who worked very hard to set it up & today it is running successfully, thanks to the dedicated doctors , other professionals &volunteers;.
eye care to all is the motto we follow at sankara and its a priviledge to work in such a comfortable environment with enthusiastic workers.
though, i have been associated with SECI not for so long but in this short period, it had tought me the meaning of the word 'dedication'. this is not only a philanthropic organisation but it is an organisation where the u came to know how a good team work, done in right spirit can bring change to the lives of the people around.
I recently became a volunteer for Sankara, inspired by the work they do in India. The strength of the volunteer network is really commendable, as they are all driven towards only one thing - 20/20 by 2020.
One of the best NGO for serving the underprivelaged population. The selfless motivation without any basis for caste, creed or region. Working tirelessly for mainting the welfare of the people and givinf the greatest gift of GOD - Vision to all
Sankara does an amazing job at managing overhead expenses. Sankara's excellent volunteer network ensures that every last penny flows to the people in need.
if you wish the best of eye care in a very sophisticated environment then you must surely experience the wonder of sankara whch is now spreading its wings everywhere.
I have been one of the volunteer for this Non benefit organisation for the past 3 years, which serves for the blind.
I have heard about Sankara eye foundation from friends who are associated with it. I think it is a good organisation with excellent client service.
have heard about SEF and the work they do. have been associated with some of the people who work with this. it seems to be an excellent organization
its a highly organised setup and works very enthusiastically towards the goal of vision 2020 by 2020. i am proud member of this team and for me it has been an honouring experience altogether.
SEF has a very clear mission to eradicate curable blindness in India by year 2020. SEF is well run organization built on a strong set of core values, sustained by dedicated volunteers across the country and displays professionalism of the highest calibre in every endeavour.
SEF is a great organization that works toward a great cause. It's been hugely successful and is a huge part of the Indian community here in the Bay Area. I am happy to be a part of such an awesome volunteer group.
It is a great way to help your community, and help your mother country. Not only do you raise awareness and support an important cause, you also enjoy doing it. But, planning events and publicizing them requires time, commitment, and responsibility. This also teaches you how to be a leader.
We have donated money for the foundation and we regularly attend the fund raising activites. Our initial donation was for their first hospital in Guntur, AP and now they have added quite a few hospitals across India. We ae very proud of this organization all the best Sridhar and Rajani Bathina
eye sight is a great gift !! if there is some organisation that is doing is really awe some iam really not an active memeber or anything but i feel people who are putting that extra effort for mankind is really nice!! so we should be happy that people in these days think of doing something out of our selfishness is really great!!
I have participated with them in one of the events that they were fund raising and was really pleased to see each of the members dedication, and even the artists who has come, were so kind and offering their serices really on serice basis only, when I asked one of them they said, if few hours of ours gives eyes and visiton to someone, then what is the harm, rather it is pleasure of life
Sankara Eye Foundation does an awesome job servicing thousands of people in need. Wish they can get more manpower as well more financial support also
My friend met with an accident, and one of his eyes was suffered from an irreparable injury. Thanks to SEF, he could see again.
I had volunteered for Sankara while i was in India. I am always impressed with their hard work and determination to do whatever it takes to reach out and help visually disabled people.
In a country that has many preventable and curable vision disabilities, a NGO dedicated to the cause is great. Sankara foundation has had a very big vision in trying to reach every part of India. In a vast country like India it takes a lot of dedication to get there. I hail from Gujarat and I have known a lot of people who have benefited from the organization and it is great to hear of their new facility there.
I feel that every penny donated is spent wisely , they are very prompt in informing how the donation has been utilised, including beneficiery details.
Excellent and a very well run organization with world class volunteers led by Murali (USA Chapter). I have worked with them through KKNC.org for the last 5 years and have done few joint fundraisers, it is gratifying to see the dollars we raised has transformed into a great eye hospital in Bangalore, India. Go SEF! -Soma
Snkara has done an awesome work in India. They provide world class eye care to the poor & rural belts in India. These ppl have very little knowledege that thier poor sight can be cured,. Sankara thro their out reach programs have created awareness among all sections of the socienty and have also increaed the awareness for eye donation in the cities
Sankara's contribution has been great for the eradication of curable eye diseases, with their hospital in ANAND, which I saw, I was amazed to see how efficiently they operate and the happiness on the faces of hospital staff is also great, and they all know that they are good with the funding that comes from USA and also that how even small $30 or Rs. 1150 have helped the patients get free cataract surgery, my village folks Bhadran were very pleased when I took them there for all future such needs, they do great
I have seen and interacted with SEF in India and thier work is amazing , Thier work is equivalent to lighting up a million lives who have been in darkness
SEF's objective is to achieve Vision 20/20 by 2020. That is a gigantic objective in a country like India with 2nd largest population, highest illiteracy and one of the lowest per capita incomes. However, with a dedicated and committed volunteer base, they produced amazing results on the ground. They addressed all aspects of the life cycle of the problem to attain sustained and durable results. I am proud and immensely satisfied to have contributed significantly to the hospital in my home town.
Great causes drive great actions and every action taken by the organization is motivated by the cause behind. For me, the Sankara Eye Foundation (SEF) is about integrity and the Big Vision that drives it. Its my pleasure and privilege to be part of the organization that is currently helping hundreds of thousands of people and not in a distant future will be helping in hundreds of thousands. I visited an eye camp in India last december and for me that was the turning point. No matter how much literature one reads, there is nothing like the experience of being on the field. Being a volunteer I have made very good friends whom I have come to respect a lot over past several months. The volunteers are from a wide range of background and with varied interests - this makes volunteering very interesting because there is always a different perspective for everything we do. The environment is very supportive that makes it possible for everyone to contribute and at the end of the day the most reasonable opinion wins. I have also began to discover a lot about myself after being associated with SEF. Besides, I have got lot of leadership opportunities and support to drive my ideas that would help the organization. And most importantly, i find everything I do worthwhile as it will eventually help millions to see this beautiful world again.
I have been a volunteer at SEF for 5 years now. It is a very well run organization. I have seen the work it does in India.
SEF is a great organization, dedicated to eradicating blindness in India. It is dedicated in its mission and the volunteers are wonderful!
I have taken part in the SEF sponsored 5km/10km/half-marathon. I have also taken part in the dandia. What impressed me most is the enthusiasm displayed by the volunteers. Their dedication for the cause is clearly evident and is infectious.
It was a lot of fun. I got to meet a lot of new people. The organization was very well organized and just amazing.
I have been a participant in many of the events organized by Sankara eye foundation and have been a witness to their wonderful work.
This is a great foundation doing a great job in helping people gain vision. Hatsoff to the Organization for the great charitable work.
The cause is inspiring with tangible results, the volunteers are dedicated and the fund raising events are well organized and enthusiastic
This is a great organization making a tremendous difference in the lives of many. I have met some of the key volunteers personally, and have been touched with their motivation level and the desire to do good for those in need.
Par Excellence: A very enthusiastic team of leaders and volunteers, who have been a beacon of light for overseas Sankara Foundations. The enormous efforts taken for fund raising in different ways to establish the Sankara Eye Hospitals across India, especially the recent ones in Shimoga and Anand, have been remarkable. They have brought light to the lives of many. Their tireless, genuine work is to be admired and appreciated. Maitre Iyer On Behalf of SEF EU
Sankara Eye Foundation are doing a commendable job by giving vision to thousands of our brothers and sisters who cannot afford to pay for the operation. The money we donate is used for this and they send us a letter, giving the names of people they operated on. Keep up the good work.
My grandfather was terminally ill, and he felt it would be wise to donate his unblemished eyes to some worthy person, and hekp him see the world. RIP granddaddy
Sankara has been one of the most motivated and dedicated Non Profit Organizations where I have worked as a Volunteer and been a Donor. The enthusiasm shown by the folks at SEF is contagious and their vision/goal is in unison and focused - 20/20 by 2020. The Noble cause coupled with their endless energy is making a difference in the lives of thousands back in India.
I have gone to many of the garbas and to two of the sankara walks. The events are pretty organized and the volunteers have been exceptional. Overall Sankara is doing a great job getting the word out about their cause and have done so through successful events.
I have been volunteering for events for the past 5 years or so. It is a great organization, with a great cause- and the organization does great events
It is a great non-profit organization. I have completely impressed with there field work and camps that they run back home in India.
Sankara eye foundation has being doing good service for the people who need vision. Support people who are in need of various medical requirements such as bone marrow transplantation and blood donation drive. They have a group of dedicated people who volunteer for the various activities of shankara. It is a great organization helping people in India and USA.
I volunteered with Sankara Eye Foundation for Garba Events, Booths and Fundraiser concerts in Detroit area. I really was inspired by the commitment of the national level volunteers and the enthusiasm is infectious. It is one of my favorite organizations and will support SEf in all ways possible. I work with many organizations. I find that sankara is the best because of continued focus and intensity in delivering RESULTS.
I am really impressed with the work of Sankara Eye Foundation. It is run by talented yet humble group of individuals for such nobel cause.
Honest response from SEF about my donation. Donated money did reach the needy for the intended purpose. Good to know SEF is trying to expand its services at many locations in India.
In my interaction with Sankara Eye Foundation volunteers and board members,I felt they were very dedicated and very organized in their fund raising events.
It is one of the most professional and efficient organizations that has done a great amount of work in charity, reaching out to the people who are in need. This gives a great oppurtunity for people who can't afford expensive medi cares and the ones who are in rural part.
I attended/sponsored redmond rundraidser and am impressed with the efforts made by volunteers organizing the event. I was quite impressed that $30 can open an eye. I like their vision 20/20 - having eye hospital in each state of India by 2020
Very effective non profit. Been effective in communicating the developments in India. $30 open an eye is very effective product. Love their Grand vision 20/20 by 2020
One of the wonderful Non profit organizations I have seen. The professional attitude and commitment shown by the volunteers is worth appreciation, that you cannot find such dedicated people evn in normal profit oriented business organizations. Whenever an event comes up, the people make sure that they work day and NIGHT( most of the time!) to get things done on time. I have enjoyed being one of the team members, though I did not take up the opportunity all the time.
I attended bay area sankara dandiya and am impressed with the efforts made by volunteers organizing the event...this was my first visit to united states form barcelone and they made me feel home (like India).
Sankara Nethralaya Eye Foundation did the eye operation for my aged Grandmother. She is old and infirm and she had her eye operation performed for free and medicines prescribed. The eye foundation took care of her and her eyesight today is sparklingly clear thanks to all the good that SEF does. One of the best organizations in the humanitarian field. I would be willing to lay down my best penny for them ANYTIME
Sankara is made up of tireless volunteers who are truly dedicated to this cause. They give the gift of sight to those in need all over India. Sight - One of the greatest gifts that we can give.
It's one of the best non-profit organization that I have involved with. They have a great, meaningful and very easy to understand mission and vision. Their execution is superb. Their cause is unbeatable.
i knew about this organization.i would like to donate my eye after my death so that some one can see this beautifully world after my death.
I have come across this foundation through friends.I have been amazed by their selfless efforts towards helping people who really cannot forward this treatment.I sincerely hope they can take this a notch further and i look forward to be personally involved in all of their efforts.
Simply great. dedication of staff and volunteers are awesome. need more NPO like this instead depend on government in India.
Working with SEF has shown me the change that can be affected by a group of individuals with a shared vision.
Very committed group of individuals - their actions show their true dedication to a great cause and they have made a true difference to the world!
They do a great job of telling the story; and of course, what carries the day is the story itself - hard to beat the gift of sight to those who cannot afford the care - and the model that makes each hospital self sustaining is very novel. Every experience with SEF has been outstanding.
My experience with Sankara has been a positive one and I am truly grateful to say that I have been apart of this experience. I have learned so much about healthcare and how a proper non-profit charity works.
A great organization that helps the poor and provides them the gift of sight, a very basic human right. All this is possible by their dedication in raising funds and making sure it reaches people in the deepest villages of India.
It has been a great experience. Sasanka eye foundation helps all the needy people. They are very prompt with the acknowledgements
i has been a good experienve working with sankara foundation.i have learnt many things from sankara fuondation which i will share with my friends and family members.
One of the best non profit organizations that does excellent work with honesty, faith & sincerity and helps people in need
Has been extremely positive. There is a kid near my Bangalore residence neighborhood who lost vision in one of his eyes from congenital reasons. He needs complex state of the art eye surgery to re-attach his retina to the nerve tips. Sankara Eye Foundation agreed to help this poor kid with their state of the art facitlities and experienced doctor. There is a chance the vision may be atleast partially restored and vision loss contained just to that eye. This is truly a gift of vision. The porr kid wd have gone blind in both eyes otherwise.
I had good experience in past. my grand mother she was not able to see from her one eye properly then we went for operation at SANKARA EYE FOUNDATION they did the operation in a very systimatic way now she can able to see
SEF is a great organization doing exceptional work to help poor visually challenged people in India. I've participated in several fund-raising programs that SEF has held in San Jose and the bay area to help community eye-care hospitals and programs in India. I've very much enjoyed the teamwork, motivation, and camaraderie of the SEF team, and am very impressed by their selfless drive and motivation to contribute positively.
i like the work the do in eye foundation supporting the people I helped recent immigrants find their first job here, I received counseling services and changed my career, I spent a day planting trees in Dolores park etc..
I was very much impressed with the amount of dedication and selflessness this organization has shown towards eradication of preventable blindness for the underprivileged in India.
mindblowing work...at a fast pace with precision and good quality.vision 2020 is a dream cherished by all of us and we all are working methodically to achieve it
It was a great experience getting to know about the different activities and how it is benefical to the people. Great efforts guys
Sankara Eye Foundation is doing a great service. By focusing on specific area they are able to bring real change and give the gift of vision to thousands. Very well run organization with dedicates volunteers.
I donated - Sponsored a person. Every year I donate and they sponsor a person to get eye operated in India based on my donation and they send the info back to us. That helps us to realized that it was used on real purpose and well used.
its really good & best thing u sankara eye foundation doing good job & all the best in what ever u people do all the best
i was very happy work with them becouse it was a good job helping poor people who are realy in need of help .
A great institution enabling millions of poor to get the right eye treatments. I am proud to be associated with them.
Sankara Eye Foundation is a great charity organization for noble cause. SEF has a Clear goal that is "Vision 20/20 by 2020". That means by the year 2020, their goal is to construct and operate 20 eye hospitals in India. They had 8 by 2008 and planning to open another two by 2010. That shows teams dedication and execution in acheiving their goals. Well organized and very professional in donor care and event management etc. Pleasure to work with such great a team to eradicate curable blindness in India.
It is always pleasure to attend or participate in any SEF functions. I have volunteered and attended countless SEF functions and always feel great about it. Volunteers are very dedicated and hardworking to the fulfillemnt of the SEF cause. I wish you folks very best to continue to do the great community work.
it was indeed a grest experience to understand concern of those people lookingout for light which can expell darkness from their life.
It was indeed a great exprience to understand concern of those people looking out for light which can expell darkness from their life.
I was involved with SIP(Social Inventory Program)for 60 hours during my first year B.Sc organised by my college. It was an orphanage home where 23 children were being taken care by Sister's and Father's.I spend 2 hours every sunday helping their studies, drawings, atrs and craft and some outdoor activities.I gifted them sweets and chocolates ans also help them with clothing and food whenever possible.Seeing a child smiling is the most precious thing I could ever see.
Sankara Eye Foundation is an outstanding organization with dedicated people determined to eradicate preventable blindness. I got involved with Sankara Eye Foundation in Chicago and continue to be a patron and a big fan of the organization. I wish them the very best and great success in the future
A very professionally run charity group. There are many organizations serving the social need but this is very focused - catering to eye problems in India. Provides interested public, many ways of contribution - donations, volunteer, participation.
I really loved the way Sankara is trying to help people and really touched by their theme of 20/20 by 2020. It is really a great way of service. Sankara is really giving opportunities to all the blind people, which I feel is really great because even GOD has not given them the opportunity to see this world. I got involved in their couple of fund raising events in Chicago area. GOD BLESS SANKARA!
i am very happy to be associated with this institution for around 3 years and it has stood all the tests of the time when it comes to doing quality work.
Excellent organization with great view and planning for the future. I am amazed at the wonderful service level and reach throughout India. I know SEF puts our donated money to the best use and I am looking forward for the new hospital coming up in UP.
Sankara Eye Foundation is an organizatin that has grown from the ground up, going back to 1998 - As part of a performing member of PALLAVI music group, we are so happy and proud that we are also part of this great organization by doing our fundraiser concert for SEF (the 1st ones to be doing fundraiser for SEF that gave them a good visibility to start with in the bay area). I have personally seen fabulous optimism in their vision, their leaders and the invaluable contributions from its volunteering force and the supporting donors through these years. I wish SEF all success in achieving its goal of 20/20 by 2020.
Highly appreciate the work that is being done by Sankara Eye Foundation, for the needy in India. I had been to their office at Bangalore for a checkup for my mother-in-law at which time I understood their mission - "“To provide freedom from Curable and Preventable blindness by providing high quality eye care through a strong service oriented team." Keep up the good work, Sankara!!!
SEF is an excellent non profit organization. They are working very hard to avoid complete blindness in India. All the people should try to support this organization.
While attending UCLA, I participated in and helped out in the SEF iWalk in 2008. I also supported SEF by attending Udit and Aditya Narayan's concert in Los Angeles. My very good friend at UCLA has been a strong supporter of SEF at UCLA and has spread much awareness of this organization to myself and others, and I am truly touched by all the work SEF has done over the years in India.
I started as a doner and became a volunteer looking at the quality of work and the dedication of the team. It's a shame that India has the largest population of curable blinds in the world. SEF is the organization that has a plan and the dedication to work on this issue. Their track record speaks for itself. Each hospital does thousands of free operations every year(more than a 100 thousand total last year). Doners get a certificate with the details of how the money was spend when they sponser an eye surgery. There is no easier way of readically changing someones life than giving them the 'gift of vision'. Go SEF.
I enjoy working with like-minded people who are interested in improving quality of life for the less fortunate. This has been an eye-opening experience ...
helping nature would describe me perfectly.fun loving nature.,listening 2 music especially hip-hop.going around with a huge circle of friends..visiting varoius places is one of my hobbies..being working with call center for the past two years...spectramind and epicenter..also learned a lot in these organisations..
SEF is an excellent non profit organiszation, where one can trust that their donation is directly helping the people in need. They are working very hard to avoid complete blindness in India.
I have visted the Sankara Facility in Coimbatore India and have witnessed the excellent service they offer to the poor and needy in India.
Well it was a indeed a great experience were I learned value's of hustle respect and loyalty and also the warmth of preaching nothing but the truth.
Sankara Eye Foundation has been doing excellent work in eradicating curable blindness in India. The organization is very efficient in tracking donations and informing the donor about the person that has benifited by their donation.
This is a wonderful organization which is practical in its implementations. They have done great work in free eye care and hospice care throughout the world. Kudos to the team!
Its a very good hospital, and above all its very helpful especially for the people who cannot afford the charges in private hospitals. Keep up the good work guys.God bless you
I met some people involved in the organization and admire the single minded dedication given to the cause. I think the fundamental need for an NGO with such a cause is fulfilled by this group.

it was over all a very good expireience.GIVEN A CHANCE WOULD LIKE TO WORK ON A FULLTIME BASIS. And wish to open up an NGO in future.
Doctors who are dedicated to their profession. Persuasive, enthusiastic and very helpful volunteers. State of the art equipments. Clean and tidy surroundings.
A great organisation that works relentlessly towards a good cause. Very sytematic and diligent. Sankara Eye Foundation is an insipiration to give to the people in need.
A very professionally maanged non-profit organization. The volunteers get the encessary direction but at the same time have a lot of freedom to brainstorm, plan, execute and analyze opeartions, awareness and fundraising activiites.
I came to know this organiztion through my sister. When I was in college in Coimbatore I have heard about this organization, but now have first hand experience about how they operate. I am a donor. And the followup from this organization is very prompt. Even though I do only little for this organization I feel that we can achieve the goal for the vision 20/20 by 2020. Kala was one of the volunteers I met and she is very helpful and one of the sweet person. Sheila is also very helpful and answer all the questions.
Professional, courteous, friendly atmosphere. Great authentic music and Dandia for the whole family. The hall was packed wih lots of smiling faces.
very good. i had contributed towards two surgeries in a year, coinciding with some special dates for me. the updates on how the donation is used was very good.
I had got introduced to this organisation through Sankara Eye foundation, Coimbatore India. I had met them during thier new centre inaugration and later their volunteers during one of the events where they were operating on poor people free of cost and more than 200 people were operated. It is such a pleasure to meet such people who are so self motivated and live for others.
SEF has a great objective of making India blind free by 2020. I have been donating to SEF and working as volunteer as well in few of the events.
I've seen their effort seemlessly happening in Bangalore and other parts of India. They are clearly marching towards their vision and goal.
Hardworking day and night, all the members are treated equally, sincearity and dedication to work. The whole family dedicate their work for the excellence of Sankara Eye Foundation.
My experience has been excellent. I liked the committed team members and the way all work together to make great things happen.
This is an amazing organisation working towards creating awareness among the rural and urban poor about curable and treatable vision problems. Their understanding of the issue is par excellence. The free treatment and surgeries for the unaffordable is worth mentioning.
I have personally not be involved/volunteered for this organization. But in my opinion any organization doing charity is wonderful. This being an Eye donation organization, I have no words to say. Helping visually impaired people is something people with a great heart would do. I really appreciate the work done by everyone involved with SEF
I have been working with Sankara Eye Foundation, USA for more than 4 years now. I have not seen any charity so honest and efficient as Sankara. Even with my busy schedules I love working for the Sankara who gives greatest of the gifts a blind person will ask for, a Gift Of Vision.
It is great to to do volunteer service at Sankara eye foundation. I feel great to help out the community and for the good cause
I admire the spirt of the volunteers and donors to work towards eradication of curable blindness in India. Every dollar donated is well spent for the cause.
It is a genuine organization where they volunteer to help needy people. I am pretty much impressed with their dedication to serve the society.
I work for one of the hospitals that is working to eradicate this curse of blindness. Its wonderful to be a part of this transformational act of giving vision.
I found them to be very effective in organizing I am happy to see that funds are utilized for helping people in India
Sankara Eye Foundation is one of the few organizations that makes a real difference to the lives of India. They have a great vision in solving one of the major problems by providing free surgeries for needy peopke
Sankara Eye Foundation has been performing a much needed service to the community at large in India, by providing the gift of vision for so many thousands that cannot afford this - their efforts are to be commended and we hope they continue to get much needed support as they expand their offerings throughout India and beyond.
Iam working in a Bank as Manager. My experience with SEF is very good. They are doing a yeomen service to the society. All of my relatives are benefited by their hospitality and care . They are doing service to the humanity without expecting a reward. VENKATAKRISHNAN .T.S.
Great job of lightening the lives of many people with their eye hospitals in India. It is boon for the poor people of India.
I was a home maker for 19 years.Having spent these years with my family in a Power Generation Project in Jog Falls,Karnataka State, India, I had a flair for spreading awareness on issues that could not reach the interior regions of the place.I was associated with a local Ladies'club where I conducted awareness programmes on Maternal & Child Health,HIV AIDS, alcoholic deaddiction, managing menopause, etc.,I had a deep concern for Eye Care and preventable blindness, but could not associate myself with any Organisation. We got a transfer for B.R Project, which is around 30Kms from Shimoga. I got to know from my relatives about Sankara Eye Hospital which was coming up at Shimoga.Through one of the Patrons, Icollected information about the services and was very glad to be a part of SECI.I have made the right choice
Sankara Eye Foundation is a premier non-profit organization providing extraordinary service to underprivileged poor patients who are suffering from different eye diseases. I am absolutely delighted, excited and proud to participate in all the walkathon sessions and cultural events organized by SEF over the last several years.
A very professional org.doing excellent charity work. They are helping SECI to provide quality eye care for poor who cannot afford quality eye care treatment
Sankara Eye Foundation is filled with completely motivated people dedicated towards better eye care in India. I have been associated with them for the past 8 years and am a beneficiary of their activities. I have seen hundreds of people regain their vision and dance with joy which would not have been possible without SEF.
fortunate to be with Sankara eye hospital to serve the community, helping the needy to see the world better .
lucky to be associated with sankara eye hospital, to work as a team and exposure to different areas of my profession
Sankara Eye Care Institutes is doing a phenomenal work in community eye service. I have been associated with it since quite long. I have got immense satisfaction and feeling of service and belongingness with this institute. I pray it keeps going and we shall be able to reach the poorest of the poor in remotest part of India and the world. With the kind of approach Sankara Eye Care Institutes have, vision 2020 is soon going to be a reality. We are grateful to Sankara Eye Foundation for wholeheartedly suppporting this mission.
... committed to the core. ... the way it involves its members and not helps the community but also the holistic development of the individual.
being part of the Sankara Eye Care institutions, India supported principally by SEF, USA,i am awed by the work done by this group of volunteers who slog on weekends when others would probably relax or go on a holiday. the joy we see on their faces when they come to their homeland & see the projects which happened because of their efforts is to be seen to be believed.
Volunteered for this organisation when I was in high school and Sankara Eye foundation is doing a superb service to India.
We are a group of volunteers who work for NGO. With our good luck, we had an opportunity to work closely with this renowned HOSPITAL. We have engaged ourselves with the kids by inviting them to our organization and giving them the feel of THE HOSPITAL. The kids are very innovative and full of zeal. I am sure sANKARA has gone a great deal by making the kids what they are today. The NGO is very focussed and active in working for the less privileged. I am sure they are making a big difference to the society.
Attended their eye bank inauguration.decided to help them out.went thro their process.Auwsome way of running the show. Also went for a few places where the eyes were removed after the death of a person. Neat & very professional
Sankara Eye foundation is doing a great service to India, where about a fifth of the population suffers with some eye problem or the other, and that a big part of this population is unable to get medical care due to economic reasons. Their state of the art hospital, the importance that they provide for hygiene and cleanliness and their service to the poor and needy is really appreciable. Wishing them great success in their Vision 20/20.
Each and every initiative taken by Sankara with regard to eye care and vision to the needy is appreciable one. This made me to have a close association with Sankara.
For the past four moths I am working as Human Resource at Sankara Eye Hospital, Shimoga. I am happy to work in this service institution and it gives me total satisfaction and fulfillment. This institution gives plesure in working more and more. It inspires to serve others who are in need.
Sankara eye foundation, is one of those non profit organizations where one can find 100% selfless dedication of all the volunteers towards a great cause. All the volunteers feel one big family and come together to help raise funds for performing free eye surgeries to those who can not afford. It is due to their dedication, collective hard work, innovative ideas, self less attitude that the organization is growing like no other non profit in the USA to acihieve thier goal of 20/20 vision for all by the year 2020 in India. The organization takes particular care to inform all the donors of how their donations have been utilized and keeps them informed about the activties of the organization which too takes a lot of the volunteer effort. When I look back and think, my association with Sankara Eye Foundation is one that gives me great pleasure everytime I remember. It helped me in great many ways as well. These days the qualities such as selflessness, dedication and honesty are becoming a rarity. These are priceless qualities that SEF team possesses and they are the best.
India is home to 1/5th of the world's blind population. And more than 90 % of these patients blindness problems are preventable and curable. Hence there is a super urgent need for NGO's and other Eye Hospitals to do more and more cataract surgeries, because new numbers add up every year. Most of these patients are the rural poor, who have very little or no access to cataract surgeries. And this is where Sankara Eye Foundation, USA is stepping in and partnering Sankara Eye Hospitals in their Vision 2020 programme. Through rural outreach camps, the patients are identified and brought to the base hospital, where a Small Incision Cataract Surgery is done, and a non foldable IOL is put inside. The patients remains at the hospital for two or more days as required. Sankara Eye Hospital, Mogar, Dist. Anand has done nearly 5300 of these free cataract surgeries in the last eleven months. And has set a target of doing nearly 25000 free surgeries every year, for which they have to do nearly 80 surgeries a day. And this is where S.E.F, U.S.A is supporting the hospital. S.E.F, USA is also supporting the Rainbow programme of the hospital, where poor school students are screened by their own school teachers who have been trained. Our hospital then checked out 79 of these students, and given spectacles those needing cataract, squint surgery were done so free of cost. With the support of S.E.F USA, we want to increase our school screening this year, because children are the future of this country.
A organisation with a noble vision of providing eyesight to those who are not priveleged . Starting from Coimbatore in India today with 8 eight hospitals located at various states across India. The words of satisfaction of the people who have been here speaks about the dedication and sincerity of people involved.
1/5th of the World's Blind Population live in India and about 4 million is being added every year. Eighty three percent of the visually impaired in India live in the rural areas in conditions of abject poverty which are only made worse by blindness. So there was an urgent need to have a programme for eradication of curable and preventable Blindness in which Sankara Eye Foundation USA is playing a very Big role.At Sankara Eye Hospital Mogar Anand has atarget to do 25000 Gift of Vision Surgeries every year and during the last 12months since inauguration have done 134 numbers of Rural Outreach Camps in which 19413 patients were attended and 5976 nos were brought to the base Hospital and 5372 nos were undergone surgeries.Under the Rainbow programme the Hospital has arranged screening of 2200 school students through their teachers out of which 79 students had refractive errors, Cataract and Squint problems. They were spectacles. 8 of these students were operated by the Hospital.
An opportunity to serve the millions of vision impaired; vision can make a wonderful difference in a person's life immaterial of the age, whether it's a child or a middle aged person or an old person, it has a tremendous impact on the quality of their life if the sight is restored. At Sankara Eye hospital, thousands of underprivileged are screened through extensive outreach activity and offered good quality of patient care, vision restored, accommodation, food and transport free of cost. The patients are fortunate to be operated/treated by few of the best surgeons in eye care in this hospital as quality is never compromised.
I could meet some of the donors and volunteers during the inauguration of the Sankara Eye Foundation hospital in Bangalore,India.I was really impressed by their sincerity, invovement and their deep concern for the society.
I know a couple of medical professionals who have contributed and committed to this cause. Their dedication and involvement moved me. I met some who have benefited from this and have referred some of the poor people that I came across and needing help with sight to this foundation.
Having done my Post graduation from Institute of Rural Management, we had to prepare a case study on a social sector initiative for one of our courses. It was for the same purpose that i had a chance to know about the Sankara Eye Care Institution, India. Getting first hand information by interacting with patients and the staff there laid out a very positive comprehensive picture of the work they are involved with. There prime project in focus that time was the "Eye Donation" drive. it was an eye opener as many myths and apprehensions related to the same were removed, solving the doubts of the people. Also , getting to know about the camps which they organise in the remotest parts of the country, where getting proper eye-care facilities would be like a dream. The number of surgeries, expansion in terms of facilities being provided and the areas being covered itself speaks for this noble social drive.
I know this SANKARA EYE FOUNDATION USA through one of my friend whose father was very closly associated with this foundation and it was his dream to see it come true and which really did. I have heard that they have a very good team of doctors and volunteers who do lot of charity work like giving free eye check-up, operations etc., to all the people (by touching even the remote villages) who find it difficult to make their both ends meet. I genuinely wish them GOOD LUCK for their great work and effort. All the Best.
I have come across Sankara Eye Foundation through somebody who volunteered with them and was inspired by the kind of work and coverage which the Foundation has. I run a website for children with special needs and so also am concerned for the visually impaired. I think that the mission of the foundation is simple but hugely empowering and appreciate the drive and focus behind it. I hope to work with the organisation closely in the future and wish them all the best
I have known the people behing the Shankara Eye Foundation, in India and always been inspired by their committment and dedication to work for the marginalised towards eradicating curable blindness. It is their passion towards the cause that has translated into vision for millions. I wish them all the best in their efforts and pledge continued support to Shankara Eye Foundation. Way to go!
Sankara Eye Foundation is a good organisation which helps poor and needy of ophthalmology sector. with the linkup with Sankara Eye care institutions it is doing a very good service
Great source of strength in facilitating the thrid world support in eye care. A very down to earth, cost effective and supports the local initiatives. The foundation is like a movement, inclusive in apporach, and never tiring in working towards the goal. They are very open minded and value every penny contributed to the cause.
SEF has been best organization and al;l the volunteers are amazing and very dedicated. It is always our pleasure to work with SEF.
Sankara Eye Foundation is an amazing organization dedicated to providing the greatest gift of life, the gift of vision to the deserving and needy through their unconditional services. My connection with SEF is through the Iwalk each year.I have seen the organization grow and expand, reaching out not only to the adults but also the youth of the Indian community which I believe is essential. It is truly one of the best charitable organizations I have been part of.
These guys are the "Bono" for solving eye related problems that millions of India's poor are facing. What they have accomplished in the last few years is truly impressive -- considering that all the founders come from pretty modest beginnings, and did not really have a person like "Bono" furthering their cause. The hospitals that they have set up has basically helped thousands of blind poverty stricken people get their basic right of vision restored to them. This is a phenomenal organization, and I am humbled by their efforts and accomplishments.
SEF & the SEF community are an amazing organization dedicated to providing the greatest gift of life, the gift of vision to the deserving and needy through their unconditional services. Having been a volunteer for SEF I have seen the organization grow and expand, reaching out not only to the adults but also youths of the Indian community which I believe is essential. It is truly one of the best charitable organizations I have been involved with amongst the many that I am a part of it because its focus is only on its goal, to eradicate blindness in India, 20/20, and I hope it is met!
Since I was already aware of SEH's Kancheepuram origins, I was excited that SEH had set up its Bangalore facility in the neighborhood. I visited the hospital with an elderly couple and was pretty impressed to see the facilities. The atmosphere was holistic, planned well - spacious and well ventilated, layout was efficient, and the hospital is well-equipped. The premises are clean, the staff seem to be eager and helpful, and the patients seem to be satisfied with the promptness and quality of the care provided. That SEH also serves 80% of its patients free of charge was also a very humbling thought. Thanks to the donors - INdian and overseas, who believe in Kanchi-kamakoti trust's vision of providing quality healthcare to India's poor
Iam a volunteer of Sankara from the inception.I have seen the growth stages and it is amazing to see how it has grown. The discipline, dedication and sincerity of all the members had resulted in this excellent growth.
Wönderful and dynamic organization. Passion driven towards the cause. In the last 10 years they have made a huge impact in helping to eradicate curable blindness in India (5 states)
this is a very good volunteer organization where volunterrs are contribors also. most of the contributions go to the needy and you get the contributions accounted for.
Shankara is the great medium and organization to give sight to people who cannot see. I am very proud of what Shankara eye foundation is doing for the ones in need.
Had good friendly environment between volunteers. They are like a family. Meeting at one of the houses and plan for volunteer work.
I am very pleased with progress that Sankara Eye Foundation has achieved just over 10 years in performing eye surgeries in India. I really appreciate their dedication, commitment and hard work towards the goal vision 20/20 by 2020.
The volunteers of this organisation visited my son's school and diagnozed his eye sight and found out a serious problem. This was in perfect time, to rectify his eye sight and I did it immediately in their hospital for a nominal fee. His eye sight is perfect now, which he checked again after 3 months. Without this organizations effort to volunteer themself and visiting many instituions and general public, many might have lost their sight, just by not knowing the problem. I bow my head to this organization's excellent service to our society.
I've been volunteering for SEF from 2005. SEF is an amzing organization to work on curable blindness by intiating community wide programs in India. I visited one of their hospitals in Gugntur and impressed with the work they are doing.
I've personally been to an eye camp conducted by Sankara in India, and was awestruck by the dedication of the doctors and nurses, and also the extreme professionalism and immaculate care they provide. SEF in the US has done yeomen service spearheading the movement in India and in the explosive growth of free eye surgeries and replication of the success of the Sankara Eye Hospitals all over India to achieve their lofty goal of Vision 20/20 by 2020 to eradicate curable blindness in India by caring for the poor and downtrodden. Giving the gift of vision can increase the quality of life of someone several folds, especially a poor person who is living hand-to-mouth.
Sankara is an incredible organization that helps so many people. I had the pleasure of being introduced to their work through a friend, which led to my attending their fundraiser. The work they do is simply incredible, and should be lauded by all who care about humanity.
I like volunteering knowing that someone is getting help. And Sankara's events are great fun -- from walkathons to dandias.
I have been a volunteer with Sankara Eye Foundation for the past several years. I am honored to be associated with this organization. Sankara Eye Foundation has conducted a number of free eye surgeries and operations in the various Eye Hospitals in India.I have visited Sankara Eye Hospital in Guntur Andhra Pradesh a few years ago and was very very happy to see the wonderful work carried out by the Hospital staff. Eradicating curable Blindness by the year 2020 - Vision 20/20 by 2020 is a goal I believe we all should try to achieve.
I have had a wonderful experience with SEF, they cater to the needs of both the rural and the urban, their support initiative towards the rural sect is quiet commendable. They operate with great efficiency. They strive towards making vision 2020 a success.
I have been involved with this organization for several years and think it is amazing. When i visited the hospital i was amazing at the quality of care the patients had received.
Sankara eye Foundation is a wonderful organization with a great cause and dedicated volunteers who are selfless and have a never give up attitude that inspires many people all over the world
I have seen the Sankara hospitals grow and spread their wings in front of my eyes. Starting from the Coimbatore establishment to eight hospitals across India today, SEF USA's commitment and hardwork is quite visible. For me the most astonishing aspect was the charity and free surgeries on offer, where the poor and needy are provided quality facilities and treatment akin to any world class hospital, with state of art technology and infrastructure. The awards they have received over the years bear testimony to the great work they are committed to.
My volunteer experience really gave me satisfaction to my soul. People who lost their eyes only know the precious value of this organization. I feel good about volunteering this organization. SEF should do for ever and helping the needy people.
This is a great organization that instills a great amount of care and compassion within those who greatly need affordable medical services in eye care. Organizations embodies how every penny earned is put to use to better the lives of others.
I love this charity because I know exactly where my money is going and that everyone who works on behalf of this organization is extremely motivated and believe in their cause.
I am a volunteer with an NGO called Samarthanam helping visually challenged children with their education. I truly understand the gift of sight for each human being. During this period Sankara eye foundation visited the NGO and carried out eye camps and helped out to the maximum. I think they are doing a great job.
I have been volunteering for a long time. Volunteers involve themselves with great passion and patrons' needs are taken care with utmost attention.
Sankara Eye Foundation USA has been fantastic in its service and commitment. All volunteers have been extremely friendly and helpful with a keen sense to bring about a change in society.
It is wonderful experience to participate in the programs of the Sankara Eye care institution. It is immencely satisfying to see thousnads of rural poor who go back after the surgery. It is heartening to listen to many old ladies whi pour out their mind in apprecfiation of the help thay receive from this hospital.
I visited the Guntur eye hospital built by SEF. The dedication and service is extremely good. All eye surgeries are free. I was amazed by SEFs dedication to the blind in India. I will donate to SEF again and again.
I have been involved and have supported SEF for almost 10 years now. I have known Murali (co-founder of SEF) for 10 years and I have seen SEF grow from a very small but ambitious charity organisation run by a handful of people, to a large very well operating charity doing events like Dandia, Walkathon etc attracting thousands of people and managing very well. I am totally impressed by what they are able to achieve in such a short period of time with their dedication and commitment.
Sankara Eye Foundation is a very well organized nonprofit organization. They have very enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers and their events are very organized and run quite efficiently.
Wonderful experience with this charity! A family member volunteers for this actively and I've seen such great dedication in volunteers! Everyone is treated equally! I'm proud of everyone for doing this for mother india despite living so far from it!
I was associated with SECI India, the Indian arm of SEF, USA and learnt a lot about eye care scenario in India
It has been a heart warming experience to see people experince the joy of regaining their lost vision.. especially the satisfaction of doing it for the young ones..

Sankara is a wonderful organization to be associated with. There is tremendous dedication and pride in the group. Imagine an event of 4000 plus people being managed by a group of ~100 volunteers and a security detail of 7 people. No issues; no crowd management problems; everything ran like clockwork. I volunteered because I was impressed with their efficiency, dedication and their ability to get results

I have worked with a very dedicated team of individuals who go out of their way to make events successful with contributors/participants feeling great about their contributions to the SEF cause.
I find the Sankara Eye Foundation a wonderful organization to donate my time and money for. One thing in particular that attracted me was the fact that they have specific, attainable goals, such as the newest vision hospital they hope to open. Their fund raising events are a lot of fun, too.
Professional Suroundings and homely settings..nice place to work!! the employees and employers share a cordial relationship. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the services offered by SEF and the passion show by them in this noble cause!!

Have been a donor, volunteer and patron of Sankara eye foundation since 2001. Listening to Dr.Ramani in the SFO bayarea left me inspired like never before. Dr.Ramani and chairman, Murali emancipate the true spirit of volunteerism and gratitude that is genuinely uplifting and provide true meaning to the spirit of service. It's no wonder that SEF has scaled to 100000 FREE surgeries across 8 hospitals. SEF should extend their vision from 20/20 to 50/2050 as the world needs such organization and not just India. Proud of my association with SEF over the years. GO SEF!!!
I have read numerous stories of young kids benefiting from Sankara Eye Foundation's service. I am a regular donor for them to indirectly help the needy people. They are very ethical and humble and not aggressive in their fund drives, when compared to many others I have dealt with.
I attended a very well prepared presentation on the activities of the foundation in august 08.I am particularly impressed by the focus on eradication of curable blindness. The foundation has contributed tremendously in serving indians affected by this ailment.
I help with their charity runs. I am pretty tired by the end but I always feel better when I know it is going to a good cause.
They seem to genuinely care for the eye complications that people have with dedication and perseverance. All the donation made is linked to a recipient and the recipients name is disclosed to the donor. This ensures that a donors effort is not wasted.
My experience was excellent with volunteering with sef- the commitment and love for this org is amazing. The number of people who contribute is huge and all of them do it with the good thought of helping someone in need
I got involved with Sankara few years ago initially to raise funds for Guntur hospital. But since then I have been helping with many fund raising events. SEF is one of the professionally managed NGO I have ever seen. Was pulled into SEF by one of my good friend a year back and I regret not being a part of it for so long. Started as a donor but slowly got involved in their vision which in now spreading it wings all over the country. Way to go SEF. I am proud to be a part of this organization.

SEF is an amazing charity. I have seen it firsthand in India when I visited their hospital in Coimbatore. They treat their patients with respect, keep a clean environment, and are very professional. This charity holds excellent fundraisers, most of which I have attended myself, to support this wonderful cause.
I was volunteer and had wonderful experience with all the crea and get to know about SEF very clearly and made me ti stick to this for ever. Thank for the oppertunity.
I have been a volunteer with SEF for a couple of years now and I am delighted to tell my story with this organization. I have volunteered for SEF at various events, carried its banner, given out literature and educated people about curable eye blindness in India. And every little thing I did for SEF, I felt a pride surge in me..because it was for such a good cause, a noble cause and a cause that I, along with the thousands of selfless SEF volunteers, truly believe in: That we can eradicate curable eye blindness in India. I also take pride in the fact that SEF has made great strides and had tremendous impact to help the needy in India through its hospitals and mobile clinics. I hope to play a continuing role in this mission in every little way I can.
I have been a long time supporter of this wonderful organization. I am impressed by the amount of transparency they have shown. Unlike most other NGOs they provide the beneficiary details. I will continue supporting them always.
Initially I contributed for some eye surgeries in India. Sankara Eye Foundation promptly sent me the beneficiary information along with their address, I wanted to meet the beneficiary during my vacation trip to India, But could not due to shortage of time on my side. Later I started volunteering, we organized a Kannada Drama with the proceeds of the drama going to Sankara Eye foundation. I have manned booths, participated in fund raising efforts for their Hospital at Shimoga, Karnataka as well as Edited the newsletters that is published on their website.
I was a volunteer to teach those interested in Indian traditional dance for a cultural fundraiser that Sankara held. It was amazing to see how many people came out to support the event and every year it is very well run.
I am one of the volunteer to SEF. I belive Sankara doing a exelent work with clear objective/goals. Sanakara has dedicated volunteer in India and overseas. Their hospitals in India have high tech equipments, good facilities and dedicated poor people who cannot afford costly treatment. Go SEF go.
Sankara has existed for the majority of my life. Though I may not remember exactly how it all started in 1998 (I was only four years old), it constitutes an important part of the best memories and experiences in my life so far; volunteers dropping in all the time, going to Friday meetings with great food, attending or participating in exciting events (music shows, walkathons, dandias, etc.), making great friends among the volunteers, and forming a large, loving family all come to mind. Through all this time, I have seen the dedication, determination, and grand vision of this charity firsthand. The volunteers' hard work has led to the exponential growth and widespread success of Sankara - from one hospital and 8,000 free eye surgeries in 1998 to eight hospitals and 100,000 planned free eye surgeries today. I am glad to be able to say that I am involved in such a great organization, and I hope to be so for the rest of my life.
SEF is an organization that was started by two brothers and their families who wanted to make a difference. I've watched this organization grow from a few families trying to help out these two families to a highly visible and respected organization which is truly impacting the lives of so many underprivileged people in India. This organization can do even better than it does right now by better publicity of its events, fund raisers and accomplishments.
Through Sankara I have been able to reach out to hundreds of blind people in rural India and grant them vision.
SEF has a very structured and methodical approach for a non profit organization. The goal of replicating its success in one place to many other parts of the country is unique and sensible approach to achieve its mission : vision 20/20 by 2020. Also the approach to being self sufficient by having paid patients pay for poor patients is novel.
I have volunteered for Sankara Eye Foundation for about six months and the experience had been amazing.I met so many other dedicated volunteers and made many friends.SEF made me feel very good about myself.SEF is doing very good job of raising funds for free eye surgeries in India.I feel proud to be a part of such a big organization.
It has been a nice experience volunteering for SEF..I volunteer mostly on the day of the event and most of the time I've noticed that the other volunteers are very professional and thoroguh with their work..In general, I have a positive impression about the work done by SEF and I look forward to continue volunteering as time permits.
I help out Sankara in organzing events and feel so proud to be a part of this team! I know that the proceeds are truly going directly to help people and that makes me feel very motivated to help Sankara even more.
Sankara is a phenomenon that is going to eradicate sightlessness in many and the progress and results are amazing as the entire orgnaization is driven with one single goal, that is help the visually handicapped and help in curable blindness so that every one can see the world .

We were impressed by the causes and goals that Sankara Eye Foundations is going for. Eye-sight is a critical sense for anyone and bring it to kids in poor areas is a very worthy cause. Our experience with SEF has been very positive.
I came in touch with the sankara eye foundation through a fair for independence day celebrations. I had been trying to get cataract eye surgery done for my uncle in India. He has parkinson's, cataract in both eyes and bed ridden for over 2 years. Finding someone in India who can get it done - even with financial support is not easy. The aunt runs a telephone booth and their 14 year old daughter is too young to take dad to hospital. Long story short - I asked Sankara Institute for help (Dr Kaushik Murali & Mr. Chandra Mohan) - they asked me to only provide the Name and address of the person. Luckily my sister was in India for a visit - I told her to take my uncle to the Institute. In 1 day she contacted the institute, the same day operation was done.Dr. Kaushik was extremely flexible and accomodating. No payment was asked !!!!. My uncle can see now. The family and I am very thankful. I plan to be a lifelong donor the institute. This organisation has heart and talent. It has reinforced my belief in the goodness of human nature. There actually are people who do good for goodness sake. This institute deserves recognition and support.
Dedicated Team, Focused on the cause, Serving the needy by curing blidness. Talked to people who got benifitted by the service and it is amzing the impact SEF has on their families.
Incrediblly bold mission and an equally motivated group of volunteers make SEF my charity of choice. I was event coordinator for an SEF-hosted concert at UCLA in 2007. Was totally blown away by how well organized the SEF board/mgmt team is. Am hoping to re-engage with this volunteer community really soon now that I'm headed to the West Coast again.
The organiazation and its volunteers work tirelessly for this unified cause "to get 20/20 vision for India by the year 20/20. I have never seen them lacking in enthusiam in devoting their time and effort in raising money for the underprivilaged. Above all treatment is provided for anyone regardless of caste, social status and they deserve accolades for achieving that.
My experience with SEF has been great. They are one of the best non-profit org I have seen in the past few years who have done so well. Their members work very hard in every event they organise. The last event I attended was a volunteer fair in my company.
Great service combined with devotion. Keep it up. Sankara Eye Foundation is offering eyes those who needs and is a GREAT NEWS - PUNJAB LAND IDENTIFIED now Volunteers work tirelessly
Been involved with SEF for 7 years. Help setup booth, conduct events. Speak to donars and explain the cause and different options available to help the visually handicapped.
really lives upto the expectations. Love working here. Gives visions to lot of people. Has a great cause. Deserves a five star rating and better.
I was part of the volunteer network and enjoyed working with the team in tri-state area. Needs more focus for regional growth and fund raising ideas.
I've been a volunteer of Sankara Eye Foundation for the past 8 years. SEF is like family to me. The dedication of the volunteers and the board towards the cause are exemplary. I am proud to be a part of the Sankara Family.
Nothing is more basic than vision and SEF provides that to the needy. What more can one ask for !! The noble cause, organizational structure, accountability, immaculate functioning of the hospitals providing top notch care and enthusiasm and utmost dedication of one of founders Murali and his family are what attracted me to join SEF.Truly inspiring! I am always amazed at how energetic the volunteers are, how well the fund-raising events are organized and most importantly, huge, positive and IMMEDIATE impact on thousands of under-privileged people. The volunteers are the life and soul of SEF. It is truly a rewarding and fulfilling feeling to be part of SEF. SEF is a completely volunteer driven and almost the entire funds raised is used for providing Vision to poor and needy in India. All volunteers are encouraged to take charge and new ideas are embraced. The working of the organization is totally transparent and no room for ego's. It is an humbling experience and helps to build your own personality while doing service. We are marching very strongly and are looking to eradicate curable blindness in India by year 2020 and achieve VISION 20/20 BY 2020.
I have had a great experience with the SEF and its staff. As a President of another non-profit organization - AKKA, we partnered with SEF to build an hospital in Bangalore, India.

I have been involved with Sankara Eye Foundation on and off since high school when a friend and fellow volunteer introduced me to it. Over the years, I have seen this foundation get bigger and stronger with its vision 20/20 campaign. It has set up numerous hospitals, performed countless surgeries, and has given so many the gift of vision. And the greatest part about the foundation is that they have gone to poor villages, where many would never go, so that each individual whom they help there may be able to live their life a little more independently. SEF's gift of vision is comprable to the gift of life for all those that they have helped!
They are very prompt in responding to all donations with receipts and thank you notes. During the 2008 and 2009 Marathon fundraisers, they did an outstanding job in organizing and managing the event. Above all this organization's mission makes them truly remarkable. They are providing free eye surgeries where the need is enormous. The gift of eyesight is truly the greatest gift of all. Thank you for helping people see the world.
It has a been an awesome experience. This non profit is doing great work, helping people back home in India.
I saw an ad for this fondation and was really motivated to help such a worthy cause- eyesight for the curable. My first meeting made me feela t ease. The people are friendly unassuming and young. So its not like an organization that interests people who have nothing better to do People are giving of their time because the cause is so worthwhile!!
I really enjoying and feel very proud to be assosiated with an organization like this which does noble service. Me and my husband visited the hospitel in Coimbatore and were very impressed. The hospital is extremely clean. The patients are treated with care and respect. Hats of to Dr.Ramani and family. The whole family does service there. The canteen is so good. The people who cannot afford even a single penny are treated free. Overall I can say it is a TEMPLE. For those who can afford little are chrged very less. The charges collected from the poeple who can afford are again used for the needy. The beds are so neat. Even though there are 100ds of people. It is functioning very quietly with dicipline. One great thing, whether the rich or the poor all are treated equally. There are many surgeries taking place at a time.Very good doctors nurses and staffs. Everybody is sincere. Recently I had very interesting experience when I was sitting in India day booth in Detroit MI.Small kids from the age of 7 and 10 wanted to volunteer. They gave their names and phone number and very very excited. My dance kids were helping us.They also sold the jewellry and got good donations. Recently when we set ups a booth 2hrs from our place one of my friends daughter who is 14 came all the way with her father to volunteer. She was so happy to know aout SEF and what they do. I thank God to introduce MR.Murali from whom we came to know about SEF USA.
I have seen the SEF volunteers in action for more than 10 years! The work with great zeal and passion and dedication, working continuously to help spread awareness of their work - by way of participation in India specific events, sending e-mails, word of mouth, etc. Their volunteers work hard and with focus. I have sponsored (my employer) one of their events, and then have attended many of their events and also been a regular donor for their cause, because I see the work that they do! They walk their talk. They have actually done the free eye surgeries. They have actually helped give the Gift of vision to thousands of poor and needy people! They have opened hospitals in multiple locations to help even more people across the breadth of India. They are one of the best non-profit organizations that I have come across in the several years of my association with non-profit work myself.
I truly appreciate the work that this organization is doing in India. The impact that they have made in changing/touching so many lives. I have met the volunteers of this organization who contant work hard to accomplish their mission of 'Vision 20/20 by year 2020' and Build/run eye hospitals all across India and thereby bring curable blindness under control
Working with SEF has been an eye opening experience. Run by very honest, ethical and hardworking team. Will continue volunteering and supporting this cause.
I had a great time at the Sankara Eye Foundation event. The music was great, and the volunteers were very helpful. Great Event!
Great organization with a great cause !! I had been to their Fundraising walks and events and have been a supporter of the organization. Their vision of 2020 is truly great and treating curable blindness in a country like India is a much needed high priority work. SEF does that sincerely with pride and shoulders great responsibility!
I follow the Sankara Eye Foundation on Facebook and think they are extremely motivated and committed and have a great ad campaign.
very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very good
I have had a wonderful experience helping out. This is a organization where people who run it are dedicated, honest and very hard working.
SEF is a very effective organization run by a committed team. I have had the opportunity to interact with senior members of this organization and am truly amazed by their dedication and focus. I have also seen their good work (hospitals) in action to see the benefit of their work on thousands of people in India.
Sankara Eye Foundation is an amazing team that translates incredible enthusiasm into bullet train speed in bringing large projects to life. A string of world class facilities and the mantra of bringing facility to people is unprecedented and a true role model.
Great Experience! My relationship with SEF has been of a donor & also I've attended their events! They are executed flawlessly and in grand style always! They are the leaders and the best in their field!
I recently became a donor for SEF! I always here such great things about this org from my daughter who actively volunteers for this org since past many years! I wish SEF all the very best in achieving their goal 'Vision 20/20 by 2020' & Kudos to SEF and its volunteers for their amazing work!
I helped SEF organize a musical event in NJ. SEF team is a very dedicated team, helped me along the way in making sure that the event went well.
Sankara is a very committed organization with dedicated volunteers. They work very hard towards their golas alligned with thier mission.
Loved being a volunteer for SEF. Got to meet a lot of people; got the opportunity to serve while having fun.
I had a nice and fulfilling time planting trees. The drive that was organized was really very nice and helpful. It helped me gain a lot of information about the advantages of planting trees and what they do for our ecosystem. It was an informative and enriching experience.
the non-profit organizations like yours are really boon for the betterment of the society. Today whenever the government machinery fail, these nonprofit organizations take initiative and step out to help peoples in need and that too without any personal monitory profits. Hats off to the organizations like yours...
I had been to one of the counseling sessions and found that I was not the only one who has sufferings and hardships. i learned that you cannot achieve something just by cribbing about things all the time, but by trying to do different things and find what you are good at.S I was good in providing certain services and started doing it on a part time bases and found that i was more happy and earning better then the job I was doing before.
Sankara Eye Foundation is a great organization i am very lucky to be associated with.. Sankara Eye Foundation does a pretty good job in conducting operations to blind people all over India and in the Sankara Eye Hospitals spread all over India.
Sankara eye foundation is the only organisation which does total work for the society cause I have seen the their hospital in guntur. It s really a boon to lot of people who really are below poverty line
- Working with a very passionate group of individuals who all work towards doing a wonderful thing for people, by giving them an opportunity to see our world. - tirelessly, selflessly and generously give their energy, time, and strength to a noble cause. - vision of building a hospital in every state of India to serve the poor and needy and give them a gift of vision, there is nothing more satisfying than enabling this to happen. - a fabulous vision, wonderful people, and above all giving vision.
I've followed Sankara Eye Foundation from its infancy. My band "Pallavi" raised funds through concerts for the first three years of SEF's existence. At that time, SEF was small (just the San Jose branch), had a few volunteers and was raising a few thousand dollars through events. But with the kind of dedication shown by their volunteers, it was obvious to us even then that SEF will be huge... Helping a lot of needy people. We were not wrong! SEF is now a focussed, multi million $ charity organization that has helped so many eyes view the world in a different light. Kudos to the wonderful and passionate volunteers! I wish them all the success in their endeavours. Krishna Sivaramapuram
SANKARA EYE FOUNDATION IS DOING A GREAT JOB. They are professional, service oriented and a great team to work with.
Wonderful organization and fundraising activities and provide excellent support to volunteers to raise awareness and money for sankara eye foundation.
I became SEF volunteer for less then a year and found this organization is really doing a great job and for a noble cause of gifting vision. Moreover the organization itself have a clear vision on how to go about it. Their project plans are clearly laid out for next two years with clarity, where the raised money will go and all that at bare minimum administrative costs. Moreover it has a great team of vcolunteers who are so dedicated to the cause, it was great to be part of SEF team.
I have been a donor for the past several years. This is one organization where I never doubt if donations are put to good use. I have heard Dr. Ramani and others actively involved in the organization, and see the genuine sincerity and devotion with which the organization serves the cause of curing blindness. To achieve the goals and scale of this task, SEF has set forth a practical milestone of self-sufficiency for every hospital which seems the best way to do this long run. Giving a person the gift of vision to be able to enjoy the beauty in the world and also to help that person become self-sufficient is a wonderful thing, and SEF is an organization which genuinely wants this for every person and is working ceaselessly towards it. It has already changed countless lives by doing so. I highly recommend any kind of donation or volunteering for this organization.
It is an excellant NGO working for the cause of eradication of blindness with a vision to reach underprevileged & rural mass.Performance of the eight hospitals are amazing as they have taken to the task of vision restoration in a massive way & the reach to the rural poor is phenomenal. The envisioned plan of additional locations with a good geographical spread is a pointer to the state f things to come & the number of unreachables to be reached.Organisation is truly national & international & has few parrallels of this magnitude world wide.
My experience with SEF has be awesome. This is a kind, thoughtful group of people who come together every week to make their lives meaningful and help those in need in India. As someone who was feeling lost after migrating to the US, volunteering with SEF established the sense of family and unity for me. My friday's were spent in a meaningful way sharing ideas and potluck dinners. I feel very fortunate to be part of this group. I have made long lasting meaningful connections through this organization. The genuiness of this cause resonates with every person's need to do something big for the world and help others overcome their hardships. A big strength of SEF is the quality of people it attracts and the environment SEF provides for everyone to be their genuine self. This is evident during event organizations and meetings. I have been the event co-ordinator for Roshni Hindutani and Dandia events. Clear leaderships are established early in the event organizing and this helps put up an organized event for the patrons and donors. Another common strength is the mentoring provided by the members of SEF to each other. As an MBA student I found fellow MBA grads in this org who helped me with valuable advice, books and course information (Amit Patel, Bina Patel, Girish, Snehal). I have a degree in business with a leadership concentration. I got ample opportunities to learn leadership through SEF and I now mentor other volunteers in their MBA program (Neha Desai)
I volunteered for the iWalk 2007. Everyweek we would have planning meetings. The first very meeting I attended all the other volunteers made me feel like part the group. The meetings are scheduled on Friday evenings. It's a Pot-Luck planning party. Each one brings a dish. The meeting is conducted in a professional manner. Each person gets a chance to express their opinions and everyone is encouraged to take up a task or two. New comers are helped along by the experienced volunteers. I have enjoyed my involvement in SEF.
"Sarvedriyam Nayanam Pradhanam" is an age old Sanskrit saying. One cannot fathom the darkness of not having eyes or right vision to see the beautiful around us. Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, true in many ways. As poets say, people can see thru their hearts as well, so please see and feel with your hearts the worls of darness one without eyes has to go thru. It is very painful. But, THERE IS HOPE, and WE HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE A CHANGE through SEF. This is one of the reasons, I volunteer and donate to the cause of SEF...SEF is a great organization working for a noble cause.
Sankara has been a wonderful organization. The dedication amongst volunteers and sincerity is extremely high. Sankara treats their donors with a great deal of respect. Sankara is tightly run by excellent leadership. Sankara's growth has been phenomenal, they are on track to edadicate curable blindness by 2020
Exceptional job by this non-profit organization in the noble cause of eradicating curable blindness in India by 2020. Outstanding commitment from the volunteers in support of this cause and delivery of results in various hospitals in India that are run using these donations. I am impressed !!!
Excellant. This organization is one of the best. For a very small donation, a person can get a great vision of vision.
My self & my son got lazer correction for the eyes for reasonable rate & did a good job. Doctors were kind & careing, staffs are co operative, the premises are kept clean & well maintained. I am pleased to see the institution does a lot of good work. I am impressed to see they go to villages & conduct medical check ups & bring the patients & their relative to coimbatore & treat them & reach them back home, free food for them etc. I would like to see the branches of the same all over India.
This team is doing a great job in providing funds required for the voluntary efforts undertaken in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. I spoke to some of the people who got eyesight back due to the organizational efforts OF Sankara eye foundation. Hope they continue to operate in the same mode and help serve the largest blind population of the world.
I met an older gentleman who had received an eye surgery in India in a hospital managed by Sankara Eye Foundation and was very please to see a SEF booth here. He was looking for an opportunity to mmet somone from Sankara Eye foundation. He picked up a donation from so he can mail a check later.
I have been working with Sankara Eye Foundation for last 5 years. Did couple of fund raisers along with BATA and TANA organizations. Sanakra is team is very professional. Even though I am not officially part of SANKARA, I always feel I am part of SANKARA family.
Incredible enthusiasm and commitment by the volunteers, service providers, and donors. The organization's mission is ambitious, and progress so far has been incredible. SEF deserves to be given all the support we can to help eradicate curable blindness in India.
For as little as $30 you can make sight happen to a blind person! I think this is an incredible service.
The organization does amazing work. They have treated so many underprivileged children by providing them with free eye care. I am a US licensed optometrist that does volunteer work with them. Moreover I have been volunteering with the childrens outreach program and it is very gratifying. Helping children get glasses who normally cannot afford them does wonders for that child in school! Vision is the most important sense:)
"Sarvendriyanam Nayanam Pradhanam" I would like to congratulate SEF for all its achievements and success, and really appreciate &applaud;all the volunteers for their selfless, dedicated effort who are working towards a noble cause 20/20 and providing outstanding services to our community, and am proud to be part of such wonderful community.I wish them all the very best..Gayatri Avvari
Sankara eye foundation does a excellent job providing free eye surgery in India. It's like a giving new life to human. All volunteers are dedicated to organization and work for a cause.
I have worked with Sankara for past 9 years. Their dedication towards the curing the blindness is can't be expressed in words. They are very professional in doing good fundraisers. Volunteers are well trained and self motivated in talking to the people to spread the word and very successful in moving so many people to donate the funds. all the funds are well utilized and gave so many people much needed sight. This is one of the best non-profit organization I have ever worked with. I am very happy to be part of it.
I enjoyed working with Sankara team and they are well organized team of A+ class of volunteers. My experience with them was the best.

Sankara Eye Foundation "SEF" is one of the best run non-profit organizations. We partner with them on many events & always enjoyed our assocaition.
I have been donating to Shankara for the cause that the organization is working for - treating curable blindness. One of the best things that I like is that Shankara provides its donors with a feedback on how the donated money was used and who the money was used for.
My experience was very good when I donated as well as volunteered for Sankara. They are very clean on their mission and very communicative. Being a voluntary organization for many years with same momentum and passion is something eevrybody need to learn from Sanakra work force. I wish them all success in curing curable blindness by 2020.
I have been completely impressed by the thorough professionalism, and the commitment displayed by the entire team, and I have seen them do this year after year for 10 years! I have nothing but admiration for the organization.
I have been a volunteer for the last 10 years and I have been amazed at the growth of the organization. Having a clear vision and proving consistently that they are marching towards the goal has been the key to success of SEF.
The Foundation contributes as much as possible of its receipts to directly funding eye care and vision improvement in India. All of the volunteers I encountered were professional and friendly and information about the use of donations was widely available and well corroborated.
We have been supporters of this cause for several years. Sankara is the most amazing organization in setting goals and realizing them in a very short period of time. We have been amazed at the volunteer pool they have and how all of them come together to make things happen. They have a variety of fund raising events which are so cleverly organized that make them extremely enjoyable and a pleasure to attend. It's very clear that their vision of having 20/20 by year 2020, will certainly happen.
Recently I attended a Dandiya event in the Santa Clara convention center held by SEF. The organization og the event far exceeded my expectations. I have attended several dandiya events in the bay area before and this was way better than any one of them. The food, music, crowd, everything was simply fabulous.
A truely non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating curable blindness in India by 2020. When I was requested to volunteer for this organization 3 years ago, I did not know if I hade enough time and committment.... so I just closed my eyes for 15 seconds and tried to go about my life... At the end of 15 seconds I became a dedicated volunteer and am still volunteering for this noble causee.
I am one of the new volunteer and have been enjoying tremendously. We have a great team of volunteers with one goal in mind, eradicate curable blindness in India. SEF is my extended family and I have been blessed to work with amazing and inspiring people.
The passion the cause generates is truly infectious and is what keeps the volunteers and the donor recipients on a roll. The 2007 Dandia organized by SEF in the Bay Area was my first personal contact with the volunteers and was a defining movement. It made me realise that I was witness to a movement which was generating so much of positive energy and committed involvement that the momentum is truly unstoppable.
Tremendous orgianisation with excellent leadership and vision workig towards a great cause, i think this oprgansation has the ability to make a difference in the lives of many in india.
A non profit organization which is trying to eradicate curable blindness in India through their free eye hospitals. I have seen a lot of dedicated volunteers who raise funds, from people who are willing to donate by organising events here in USA. I am really impressed by the support that they are giving to the rural people in India.
I have participated inaguration event (SEH Anand) as well as SEF Events in US, it is great orgainzation. Great Job done by this organization to cure blindness of needy people
I volunteered for the first time with Sankara Eye Foundation in October 2009. I have been familiar with the organization for many years and I finally got involved. I loved working with the team in organizing a successful event. Everyone is dedicated and determined to eradicate curable blindness by the Year 20/20.
I have been a proud volunteer for Sankara Eye Foundation on many projects and over last 5 years or so. The team is very organized, dedicated and committed to a good cause. Please do join the organization and help raise money for a good cause.
I have been following the progress of SEF since the beginning. The founding members, doctors & volunteers are very sincere, dedicated & committed to performing outstanding service in many parts of India.
Great Team to work with and be with. You get a great satisfaction after working with many great volunteers and wellwishers.
I have been following the progress of this organization for over 3 years now, they are very sincere, and have been performing outstanding service in many parts of India.
It is great organization committed to eradicate curable blindness in India. SEF is quite committed and focussed in their goals and is expanding through out India.
Have been associated with Sankara Eye Foundation for less than a year. Can assure all that they provide positive experience through professionalism , positive attitude & dedicated team. This institution allows people from all walks of life to avail specialized eye care at reasonable rates. Their service to the community needs a special mention.
Umpteen number of times while coming by train I have met people who are going from India's North Eastern sides to this Sankara foundation in Madras of India. For them this institution is close to God. They know only this. Plenty of times I have seen my friends glorify the same. One of our family friend is very closely associated with this institution and has often explained the painstaking efforts undertaken by this institution to restore the eyesight and correct the wrongs umpteen number of times. It is much better these people's efforts are hogging the limelight as the world is guided to newer heights.
Many of the population ignore preventable eye care either due to ignorance or due to lack of resources. SEF has supported the cause and every year one lakh of the needed Indian Population is benefited from this service.
"Yes we can"..these are the three words which would summarize the efforts and the zeal that Sankara has towards the cause!!
I have known the Sankara Eye Foundation for the past four years and at different points had opportunities to be able to see their work very closely and be a part of it in my own small ways. Sankara Eye Foundation is the example of Best Practice Institutions in India when it comes to Eye Care. The dedication towards the cause, the diligence towards the work, and the honesty of the heart involved makes Sankara and its work an awe inspiring model in India. The outreach strategies and the step involved gives it a feeling of personal care than just a service being provided to those you need. My interest of working with people with visual impairment and disability got strengthened with my experience at Sankara. The feeling that even a small effort is a contribution makes a big difference was my biggest learning from my experience with Sankara.
I volunteered with Sankara Eye Foundation actively when I was still in school. The volunteers are hands down some of the most genuine folks out there with hearts of gold. To me, Sankara Eye Foundation has always been far more than a volunteer organization, it's a family. Wonderful cause, wonderful people, go 20-20!
I was extremely impressed by the facilities and care offered by SEF to patients who have vision compromised to the extent it affects their normal working day. Keep up the sterling work.
I like the noble cause of Sankara to eradicate curable blindness in India by having an eye hospital in every state by 2020. I know the paing of blindness and would be happy to be a part of this campaign
Upakriti.org, a US based 501(c)(3) nonprofit, has been interacting with SEF's San Francisco Bay area team at least a couple times every year over the past several years. Our engagement with SEF has been a tremendous learning experience for a fledging nonprofit like ours. We have received invaluable guidance and direction from the SEF President, Murali Krishnamurthy, on all facets of operating and managing a nonprofit. It is hard not to be moved by his passion, and committment to the mission of SEF. And if you attend any of their events or interact with any of their volunteers, those qualities will be apparent in them as well. We wish them success in pursuit of their mission ! The Upakriti Team
I had wonderful experience with Sankara Eye Foundation. I donated money on several ocasions. Raised funds for Guntur hospital. Great group of volunteers. Great people coordinating various efforts of the organization. Dedication and commitment from the management of the foundation. It's always fun to be at SEF booths. It's amazing to be part of this organization which is dedicated to eradicate curable blindess in India. Great job folks!
Me, my parents and my brother have been in this organization for the past 6 years. I have volunteered at numerous events as small as bulk mailing and as big as the annual SEF 1000$ banquet. I have enjoyed my time in SEF so much. It helped me better as a person, especially after visiting one of the hospitals in Guntur 2 summers ago and has even inspired me to start an SEF club in my school this year. Go SEF! :)
Sankara Eye Foundation vision to create replicable and sustainable model of Sankara Eye Hospital and establish one in every state of India with the ultimate objective of acheiving perfect vision for all by the year 2020
I have visited Sankara Eye Care Hospital in Bangalore. They do a phenomenal job in providing eye care to the needy who otherwise have no means of either accessing any medical facility or be able to afford the needed medical care. Majority of the blindness are curable but cannot afford the cure. Sankara volunteers set up eye camps in remote villages, screen the residents, identify people who need care, bus them to the main hospital, treat them, house them until they recover and bus them back. As a result of Sankara work many of these people are able self sustain and earn their living
I volunteer and raise funds for Sankara Eye Foundation. I like Sankara Eye Founndation because they help poor people to get free eye surgeries, clothes and food

I have volunteered and fund raised for Sankara Eye Foundation since I was in second grade. They have truly touched my heart deeply, because of the fact that they basically give blind people a new life. I am always looking forward to Sankara events filled with hope that all of us, together, will raise lots of money for such a wonderful cause.
