I served as a volunteer/intern for the Youth Service Bureau my last semester at Texas State University. Initially, I saw it as an opportunity to get some experience before I graduated. Soon after I started I fell in love the entire Youth Service Bureau family. The program allowed the students to explore social and educational activities as well as provided homework assistance in all subjects. Everyone in the program made me feel like family and I looked forward to going there everyday. Julie, the program director is one of the most selfless and sweet persons I have ever met, she became my mentor and a trusted friend immediately. One of my favorite experiences during my internship was the 8th Dam Chili Cook off! I mostly worked on the silent auction, but I loved the concept and the environment! I miss the Youth Service Bureau!
My experiences here were all fun, im not going to lie. My first time going here was scary for me i thought that the kids were gonna be rough or idk mean but i was wrong in a lot of ways i thought they'd be. First off we had plenty in common from jokes and humor to school and stuff. We all got along pretty well and everyone was pretty awesome, what we did here was fun like going swimming at landa park in new braunfels and the rio vista pool here. The main thing at this club was service we did for our community, we gave back what they gave us,thisclubs worth coming to and i recomend it for all the kids and adults out there we represent fun together and service to our community
