I began donating to the River Parkway Trust 12 years ago when I first walked my dog along the multi-purpose trail they established that runs through Woodward Park and has access to the San Joaquin River. Since then, I've watched rapid urban growth in this area and am so grateful for the Trust for having the vision to protect precious open space along the river by creating a 22-mile parkway. Now my three grandchildren, who live in Kansas, come to Fresno in the summer to attend the Trust's River Camp, which has been a hit with children for over 20 years. They attend other camps (soccer, girl scout, etc.) but usually opt out mid-week.. not so with River Camp; they wouldn't miss a single minute from Monday to Friday! I know several Trust board members and admire their integrity and passion for protecting land and the river. In my opinion, the Parkway is the most valuable amenity in the San Joaquin Valley for providing a place for everyone to experience nature and pursue a healthy lifestyle.
