It’s a true honor and privilege for me to serve on the board of directors for SF-CESS and the powerful training, coaching, and tools it provides school leaders not only in San Francisco and the Bay Area, but across the country. SF-CESS is transforming the school system by educating educators on the racial issues that affect all of us, and the feedback and results have been phenomenal. Our coaches help teachers to teach and reach everyone in the classroom, and bridge the gap for our under-served students. With SF-CESS, more kids succeed in school, graduate, and go to college, demonstrating how crucial this training is for schools everywhere.

I've been very fortunate to have benefited directly from the work of SF-CESS as they support education in San Francisco. As a graduate of Leadership High School's first class, much of the work that is now part of SF-CESS' key curriculum impacted my learning — as teachers and school staff worked to improve my and my classmates' experience in school. Through focusing on student-centered professional development, always through a lens of equity and social justice, my school created and sustained a school culture that worked to provide all students with the resources needed to graduate ready for the world. Now as a board member I see the work, refined and executed with extreme expertise, impacting schools and students throughout San Francisco and its broader clientele. SF-CESS continues to be a leader in the work of creating reflective spaces for educators to address how to best serve and support young people, and it is a true pleasure to support the continued efforts of this organization now

SF-CESS does the work of creating conditions so that educators, schools and communities can talk about uncomfortable truths that need to be discussed to better serve all students. I was born and raised in San Francisco, and had the fortunate experience of going to some of the best public and private schools the city has to offer. Unfortunately, I often found myself the only person of color in the room, having the experience of being completely alone, while at the same time being the focus of everyone in the room. I wish SF-CESS was around help my educators see this.
