The San Diego Public Library Foundation is truly making a difference in the San Diego community. I have been a volunteer with this organization for 7 years and I am so proud of the work that is being done for people of all ages. Together with the city, the SDPLF is redefining libraries and the impact they can make on literacy, learning and community. The energy at the new Downtown Central Library is palpable and the support given to our other branches is inspiring. There is a reason that so many other cities are studying what we are doing and how we are doing it.

Since 2003, I have followed this foundation's progress and achievements, often volunteering my expertise and time, and supporting its lifetime literacy and learning cause financially. For seven years I served on its board and headed a committee, so I have been able to observe this foundation's functioning and impact at close range during a challenging time when it achieved a thirty-years-in-the-making goal of opening the new Central Library. This is an extremely well run organization, operating with effectiveness and transparency as it helps the public library system provide access and meaningful assistance to all residents and visitors. I give this organization my hearty and highest rating.

I have supported this organization for many years with gifts to support the new downtown library and my own branch in San Carlos. It is great to make gifts to a competent org that shares my love of libraries.

Interning at the San Diego Public Library Foundation was an amazing experience. I created many meaningful relationships while working there as well as learn from professionals and other volunteers like myself. I am glad I chose this location as my first internship. Angelina and all the other staff create a welcoming environment and showcased their solid work-ethics every day I was there and even now when I visit occasionally. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to work with such professional and like-minded individuals like those working at the San Diego Public Library Foundation.

The San Diego Public Linrary Foundation is one of the best foundations. I have always enjoyed volunteering there. The people involved are so nice and friendly and you can tell they are there to help the cause. They have so far opened 7 libraries, and have incorporated a summer reading program and help for homework. Which is so helpful.

I first became involved with the Foundation in 2010 when I volunteered to join its Finance Committee. In 2011, I also became a member of the Audit Committee after a 35-year career as an auditor in public accounting serving many nonprofit clients in the San Diego community.

In early 2015, I was elected to the Foundation's Board of Trustees and became the Chair of the Finance Committee. During my five plus years of volunteering with the Foundation, it has been my pleasure to serve with an excellent group of Trustees, committee volunteers, and staff. Their dedication to the Foundation's mission of providing financial support for the San Diego Public Library system's operating costs and facilities improvements is outstanding. I am proud of the Foundation and its achievements.
