I've worked with SABP on a number on conservation initiatives. From beach cleanups to crab trap collection to advocating for oyster conservation SABP is a leader in midcoast conservation. I appreciate their efforts.
The International Crane Foundation has worked with the San Antonion Bay Partnership on many projects through the years including the crab trap removal projects, shoreline cleanups, and "Water for Wildlife" projects. SABP does great work for the San Antonio and adjacent Bay systems, and the Texas coast is a cleaner and healthier place for wildlife and people that call this place home or like to visit.
SABP has been a leader in marine animal rescue and environmental cleanup from Matagorda Bay to San Antonio Bay in Texas. They work tirelessly to help stranded/injured marine animals through freezes and other adverse events, as well as keep the bays clean of discarded crab traps and other trash that hurt marine animals. I’ve volunteered with them multiple times and can attest that they are one of the best organizations I’ve worked with!
The Guadalupe-Blanco River Trust has partnered with SABP for many years, including taking part in the annual crab trap removal effort they organize for the San Antonio Bay. I have personally spent many hours on a boat, at a table, or around a fire with several members of SABP. This is truly a great nonprofit, with a remarkable mission, dedicated members and a vital local impact. We are proud to consider them partners and friends in the Texas coastal region.
The SABP is an active non-profit conservation organization that advocates for the wise stewardship and conservation of the resources in the San Antonio-Espiritu Santo Bay system. San Antonio Bay Partnership's annual crab trap clean-up, and debris removal efforts have removed countless numbers of abandoned crab traps and thousands of pounds of litter and debris. Their efforts provide an example by which other non-profits, like the Matagorda Bay Foundation, use as a template to become successful conservation stewards in their respective regions. We (the Matagorda Bay Foundation) hope to develop our relationship with SABP and combine efforts on issues common to our respective areas of focus.
I have been a witness to, supporter of and volunteer for SABP for over ten years because their efforts are truly impactful. Not only hosting efforts such as removing abandoned crab traps and litter from our bays and estuaries, but also partnering with organizations throughout the region and up the watershed to do the same.
Additionally, they make efforts to get to the root of the problem and to contribute to scientific efforts toward new solutions. They have reached out to crabbers to understand and prevent lost traps. They use phone apps to track document abandoned crab traps and submit marine debris data to national organizations for research. They have sponsored organizations such as the Texas Floating Classroom to educate thousands of children both on the coast and up the watershed about the impact that they have on the health of the bays and the animals who live there.
Most recently, the have adopted the Mid-Coast Sea Turtle Rescue program to provide search & rescue efforts for stranded and cold-stunned sea turtles throughout the Mid-Coast.
SABP is a top notch organization.
Most of us have seen a variation of the saying “We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors. We borrow it from our children.” SABP takes being a caretaker of the planet seriously, and volunteering with them has been fun and so very rewarding. I've been able to participate in their collection of abandoned crab traps, shoreline cleanups, and more recently the Sea Turtle rescue program, and I always feel I've gotten more out of being a volunteer than I've given. When much of what we hear about the planet and our fellow humans is so negative, it can be a little difficult to remain positive. Then you see groups of eager volunteers turning out for the nasty job of pulling crab traps and collecting trash... and those who cheerfully spent part of their Christmas 2022 holiday rescuing cold-stunned turtles... it restores hope. I am personally grateful to SABP for the opportunity to participate in these activities, and for all the volunteers (individuals, friends groups and families) who show up for them.
over the past few years my wife and I have been participating on the yearly events held by the SA Bay Partnership. It's admirable to see the support from local entities and the community. Especially helping cleaning up the bay and promoting more awareness towards the importance of protecting our ecosystems. More than anything, it is fulfilling to take an active role; either cleaning up the bays or by removing leftover crab traps during the fisheries off-season. It also fills us with joy to see how the number of participants has increased over the years. We highly recommend learning more about what this entity does, and if you have the capacity, come and participate in one of their events!
We've been able to participate in several of the San Antonio Bay Partnership worthwhile and effective programs including Crab Trap Removal, Shoreline Cleanup and Estuary Education. Over the years we have involved our adult children and their friends, making it a true family affair. Good for the environment and good for the family.
As a retired schoolteacher, I value intelligent meetings. I attended the SABP conference on various ecological topics a couple of years ago and it was one of the best all around conferences ever. It was indeed intelligent, and also pertinent, interesting, and entertaining, with a large number of great eco-minded folks present. And as a Texas Master Naturalist, I have volunteered several times on SABP-sponsored events, and I have always felt supported and valued and valuable as I did my part. Kudos to the partnership for their terrific contributions and righteous orientation towards the environment.
San Antonio Bay Partnership has been a local leader in conserving our coastal environment for many years here on the mid-coast of Texas! They are a grass-roots organization that has implemented stakeholder-driven conservation plans with our surrounding communities. Their long-running, annual crap trap cleanup and plastics cleanups are just a couple examples of how they engage local communities in hands-on efforts to make our coast a better place for humans and all our wild species that live here! The Partnership's efforts to engage youth through on-the-bay educational boat trawling trips that expose them to our local ecosystems and the importance of natural resource conservation is also worthy of note.
I have had the pleasure of working with SABP on numerous projects over the past 3 years. They are exceptionally organized and they get the job done! From Crab Trap Cleanups to Shoreline Cleanups to Assisting Researchers to Educating Kids. This volunteer network is a well oiled machine protecting and enhancing the San Antonio Bay Ecosystem.
The San Antonio Bay Partnership has a long history with my organization and we couldn't be happier with the work they do. Their volunteer opportunities truly make a difference in the San Antonio Bay system including the annual Crab Trap Removal event. We've also relied on their technical expertise over the years and have had their staff serve on our Environmental Advisory Committee. We look forward to continuing our collaborative relationship with the partnership for many years to come.
The San Antonio Bay Partnership does great work to protect, restore, and enhance the natural resources of the central Texas coast in the watersheds of the San Antonio and Guadalupe rivers. The board takes a pragmatic approach towards conservation that is driven by stakeholders with a variety of motivations, including environmental, economic, and recreational.
SABP gets "hands-on" by deploying community volunteers with initiatives Bay Cleanup, Crab Trap Removal, and Sea Turtle Rescue. My family has been able to participate in some of these events and we've seen firsthand both the immediate impact to the area, and the educational impact that will pay dividends in the future as the community becomes more aware of the impact that everyday actions have on their local ecosystems.
They also partner with other local organizations, such as TCEQ's Environmental Educator of the Year: Texas Floating Classroom, another excellent investment in the next generations' attitude towards the environment that we all depend on for life and livelihood.
We trust that every dollar that we've donated is spent as thoughtfully and as efficiently as possible towards their intended purpose. We are proud to have helped support the San Antonio Bay Partnership over the past few years with both our time and our money. Keep up the great work!
