Terrible people work there. I could name names of almost the whole staff. Very phony people. If you are in need of recovery from addiction please do not fo there. If you do you will regret it.

Unbelievably, it is the only "soup kitchen" in WS. That, in and of itself, makes this organization special and necessary.

Samaritan Ministries is a much needed partner in our community serving our homeless neighbors and those in need of a hot meal. The staff is outstanding and cares deeply about the people they serve. I have worked with them for a number of years and they are always ready to help when needed.

Samaritan Ministries and their mission is such a blessing to so many people and families in Winston Salem. They provide warm meals and beds to homeless men as well as the amazing work they do with Project Cornerstone. The staff and volunteers are so committed and it shows through there dedication, smiles and the hope they give to each and every guest. They are doing God’s work!

A group of my coworkers and I did an overnight volunteer shift a few months back. It was a blessing to serve and interact with the guests and SM staff.

My son and I had the pleasure of volunteering at the soup kitchen. The staff is awesome. They are organized and caring. The facility is clean and welcoming. The online scheduling makes it a breeze to volunteer.

My family spent last Christmas Day at Samaritan Ministries! We had the most joyous time with the guests as we served them a delicious Christmas lunch prepared by the staff and other volunteers. My son worked in the kitchen and my husband and I handed out goodie bags and literally interacted with every single guest. This was so heart warming. My daughter-in-law, who is part of the wonderful Samaritan staff, scurried about making sure every detail was attended to perfectly. I watched a father, who brought his two teenage sons to spend Christmas morning at Samaritan. Together, they washed every single plate, fork, knife, spoon, pot and pan. They were able to speak with each guest as they returned their plate. I’m sure these boys will never forget all they learned this day and neither will I, especially after I learned from this father that he used to be a guest here himself. I sat and talked to several guests, one on one, and looked them in the eye and LISTENED to their stories. I met such beautiful souls, with so much potential and talent, who just needed a boost at this particular time of their life. This will always be my most favorite Christmas ever- because I found the great gift of caring and sharing within the walls of Samaritan Ministries.

I can't say enough good things about Samaritan Ministries and their mission to help the community. They are providing food, shelter, and hope to those who need it 365 days a year. The effort and organization that takes is unbelievable, and yet, they continue to work on better ways to server those in need. I would encourage anyone to volunteer at Samaritan Ministries.

I have been involved with Samaritan as a volunteer, Board Member, and advocate for over five years, and I can attest that this is a 5-star institution from top to bottom. From the dedicated staff family (and I truly mean family) to the thousands of volunteers that donate their time and energy over the course of a year, everyone who works "for" Samaritan and the guests it serves believes in the mission of the organization and its ability to make a demonstrable positive impact in our community. Samaritan Ministries really does provide food, shelter and hope through Christian love, and I am humbled and honor to be a part of fulfilling that mission!

Samaritan Ministries has been an amazing place to volunteer at over the past few years. Their mission of providing a place for a meal, a place to sleep, and a place to recover and change your life has been so trans-formative for so many men in the community. I am blessed to have the opportunity to serve the men of our community through an organization like Samaritan!

I was introduced to Samaritan Ministries through a friend who asked me to join them and the Young Samaritan group for an overnight shift, serving the 70 guests that take shelter every night. They serve lunch to 300-400 members of the community in addition to dinner and breakfast for the overnight guests, 365 days a year. Since then I've joined the young samaritan committee to engage young people in the community to get involved. It's a wonderful organization that is making a real difference in a city with a large homeless community.

As a longtime volunteer and now a second-term board member, I have come to appreciate so many aspects of Samaritan Ministries. It begins with a devoted and giving staff who show God's love through their service to the hungry and homeless. Of course, the ministry could not function without its many volunteers, whose commitment to serving on the Soup Kitchen teams, the overnight Shelter crews and in other countless ways challenges me to give of myself more. And finally, of course, there are the guests who enter Samaritan's doors on a daily basis, 365 days during the year. My experience has been primarily with the overnight Shelter, and the opportunities I've had to get to know some of the men, particularly those in the Cornerstone recovery program, and hear their stories are times that I am so grateful for and carry with me throughout all phases of my life. I've come closer to a number of these men -- and unquestionably closer to God -- during these times. Samaritan makes such a difference in our community. And it has made a significant difference in my life. I could never do enough to express my gratitude.

I have been involved, with Samaritan Ministries, for 22+ years. My roles have included volunteer, donor and board member. In addition, my professional work has been focused on tax exempt organizations and charitably inclined individuals for 37+ years. Samaritan is effective in its mission to provide a soup kitchen, overnight men’s shelter and drug addiction recovery program. The organization is well managed, fiscally sound and broadly supported by the community. It was one of the best non profits I have ever been associated with! The attached picture is with a group of overnight shelter volunteers.

A wonderful organization that not only gives men a place to rest their head but also provides meals, showers, laundry, a place to relax and watch tv or read/play cards etc. They have recently expended thanks to generous donations from the community. The male mentor staff work tirelessly to help and guide those down on their luck.

There is a 2 year? program for drug/alcohol/life skill rehabilitation called project Cornerstone. It has provided profound, life-changing results for some of the city's residents.

What is most memorable are the guests' positive, faithful attitudes.
