When I first came to Samaritan for assistance in dealing with the torture my son had endured that ended up leading to his death, I could barely stumble through a few sentences before choking on tears. Facing a child's death is daunting enough, but learning about pain and suffering of a loved one is worse. Then there were court cases, legal systems to negotiate while trying to maintain one's sanity. Enter Samaritan Counseling. I first worked with Judy who laid the ground work and helped me keep my head above water and encouraged me to fight on. When she decided to move on she handed me over to a PTSD co-worker she had great faith in. Bob has stood beside me and behind me as I have grown into a Dragon Slayer. Now I am able to speak about my sweet Nicholas and his story without being shredded into bits of confetti. I have gone to more court sessions, faced ugly truths, and stood strong because of this wonderful organization. Thank you, and job well done. Catherine Wickline

A great organization that I am happy to support. They are focused on servicing a pressing need in a non judgmental and caring way. Their dedication, enthusiasm and professionalism are evident as soon as to speak to them.

A serious situation occurred in my family which caused me deep sadness, extreme anger, and very dark thoughts. The anger and dark thoughts consumed me. I felt helpless. I’m a fixer and couldn’t fix (aka control) the situation for my family. I thought I could manage these feelings or they would just go away, but they didn’t. I was miserable. I knew I needed help.

I went through the EAP program at work, where they provided me a list of counseling centers near me. After looking up a few of them, I came across Samaritan Counseling. The one thing that stuck out about Samaritan that I didn’t see with the others center, was each counselor had a very lengthy bio. I really liked this. I read through all of them, found someone, and made an appointment.

Self-awareness as the main tool Samaritan taught me. Being self-aware of my thoughts and feelings has dramatically changed my life for the better! I originally went to counseling for my family situation, but after multiple sessions, it turned out I had other issues I needed to work on. I continued counseling for a year. It was the best thing I had ever done! I only wish I would’ve started sooner.

I use the tools Samaritan gave me almost every day. I still get angry, depressed, and have dark thoughts, but I now immediate recognize those feelings, what they are about, and how to deal with them.

In today’s times, it’s hard to find truly compassionate people. The staff at Samaritan embody this. I recently had the pleasure of attending an event with some of the Samaritan staff members and board members. To see how passionate they are about the work they do was truly inspiring. I am forever grateful for how Samaritan changed my life!

My experience with this Counseling Center was that they have many well trained professionals who help their clients with compassion and up to the minute therapeutic interventions. They get good results for their patients. I would recommend them to anyone.

When my mother was down and out during the time of COVID Samaritan Counseling was there with virtual therapy - what a fantastic and creative way to help people during this stressful time. We had a stressful social-political environment and a stressful attack from an unknown virus. The holistic, spiritual, calming, and availability of the Samaritain counselor for my mother was a godsend. Thank you and god bless you.

I learned about Samaritan almost 10 years ago through the church that I previously attended. I remember being very interested in the mission of this organization and having this feeling in my heart that Samaritan would be a part of my future someday.

My family and I began attending a new church that regularly shared information about Samaritan, and I spent time looking more into the organization. I thought the idea of spiritually-integrated mental health was brilliant for supporting the whole person, and I once again had this tug on my heart that Samaritan was going to be a part of my life.

Fast forward, I end up desiring a career change and left my career as a teacher. I didn't really have a plan for what I wanted to do in my next career, but I knew I wanted to help people. I had a brief moment where I wondered if Samaritan could use a teacher for something, however I quickly dismissed the idea because I couldn't think of a way my background could be of use to the organization. I decided to take another path, became certified in life coaching, and started my own coaching business.

It was long after this when I was asked to join Samaritan's team as their life coach, and I almost couldn't believe that the opportunity was in front of me! Finally understanding all of those tugs on my heart over the years, I eagerly joined Samaritan and couldn't love this organization more! I tell you all of this because I truly believe I am where I am supposed to be, doing what I am being called to do, and those little tugs on my heart led me here. Everyone at Samaritan is so welcoming and helpful, and each person brings special gifts and expertise to the organization. I could not be more proud of this organization and how we serve our clients!

As a new therapist, I can honestly say that Samaritan has been an absolute blessing to work at. There are so many highly skilled, compassionate clinicians with a real heart for providing the best level of care and they have welcomed me with open arms. I've gotten the opportunity to work with clients of all ages, beliefs, and walks of life while benefitting from excellent guidance and supervision. I have learned so much with Samaritan and I know that I am getting some of the best post-graduate experience I could have ever hoped for.

This organization has been such a blessing to my family! We were able to find just the right therapist to meet our child's clinical and spiritual needs. Our child has felt completely supported throughout the therapy journey and always looked forward to the sessions. Our child willingly uses the tools that are being taught in the sessions throughout daily life. We are truly grateful for Samaritan!

As a person who has experience in the nonprofit and mental health fields, and who also had seen a counselor during a time of crisis, I cannot commend Samaritan enough. Samaritan therapists are caring and thoughtful professionals with exceptional skills. Driven by their empathy, passion, and faith, they "walk" with people who are suffering and struggling, doing all they can to lead them to a better life. They truly are healers and Good Samaritans. If you are hurting inside, do not put off getting help. Call Samaritan--you'll be blessed!

My wife had Parkinson’s disease for many years, but with various drugs, the disease was kept at bay, but several years ago that all changed and with the change, she not only had physical changes, but also psychotic issues. We contacted Samaritan Counseling and she started on a series of regular sessions that tremendously minimized the psychotic issues. This was tremendously important at that time in our lives.
Thank you

Samaritan took the lead in training counselors and making teletherapy available to clients before the true ramifications of COVID-19 affected the face to face world as we know it. This organization also constantly brings in speakers, on a range of topics dealing with both body and mind, to broaden the knowledge base of their therapists. The board, administration and therapists truly care about the clients they serve (because of special donations, fundraising and grants no one is denied care) and about each other. Samaritan counseling accepts one’s uniqueness, provides challenges when needed and foremost promotes and celebrates hope, healing and life.

As a pastor, Samaritan has been the primary place I referred people to for counseling for over 25 years. They have always offered the highest quality counseling with a great sensitivity to people's faith regardless of what denomination, non-denomination, or even struggles with faith they've had. I can't recommend it highly enough.

This organization is a wonderful place to work. We have a community of therapists that are diverse, compassionate and supportive of their clients and one another. I have worked for other behavioral health organizations, including an outpatient psychiatrist clinic, but have found that Samaritan has a welcoming culture and deep commitment to their mission, both of which were lacking elsewhere. It is a pleasure to come to work.

Several years ago, when chatting with my PCP about my fear of public speaking as I faced a new leadership role at work, I was advised to consider counseling. It had never occurred to me that this problem could be solved, and it didn't fit my perception of a serious enough issue to utilize a therapist's time. I was incorrect on both counts, and I was thrilled to be able to manage my issue so successfully after only a few sessions. I still employ the tools I learned to this day, and am now fortunate to be involved again with this wonderful organization.

After experiencing multiple losses, with three of them sudden and traumatic, I had become overwhelmed with grief, anxiety, depression and PTSD. I was referred to Samaritan Counseling by my pastor. I called them and spoke to a kind and understanding person who set me up with one of their therapists. Casey K. called me and spoke with me over the phone to determine my needs and to set up our first meeting. She emailed me forms to fill out before I arrived. I liked her efficiency. Having never been in counseling before I didn't know what to expect. Casey was very professional yet very caring and warm and friendly. She earned my trust right away. I felt confident in sharing my grief and pain with her. I wasn't sure she could fix me because I felt so broken, but over several months of meeting with Casey, I have been restored to a new and improved self. Casey gave me insights into how I got to the point I had let myself get to. She taught me to express my feelings and emotions and not to let them build up as was my habit in the past. I learned about mindfulness and being present in the moment. I've learned to open up and share with friends. I'm confident now that if life throws me another curve ball in the future, I will be able to step up to the plate and hit it right out of the park. Thanks to Casey K and Samaritan Counseling Center.

Samaritan Counseling Center is a wonderful resource for people in southwestern PA. The staff is extremely professional and caring. I love that the counseling and educational programs use the resources of faith. The holistic approach to achieve spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being just makes sense. The pre-marriage counseling is definitely something I will encourage my children to participate in. Having the Client AId fund available to assist financially relieves stress at a time when people are already struggling.

Thank you for your kind words! We agree--a holistic approach helps people to be healthy and whole in every respect. Also, pre-marital counseling is an invaluable activity for all couples. It helps them start their marriage "on the right foot."
