SALEF gave me a scholarship when I needed it the most. This scholarship helped pay part of my tuition which allowed me to take the courses that I needed. The volunteering opportunities are amazing because we get to make a difference in the surrounding communities. We also have to opportunity to meet other professionals like ourselves who serve as a support group and local leaders in order to become more involved in our communities. SALEF needs a lot more funding and volunteers because they are always out in the community making a difference with only a few set of hands. Anyone needing volunteer experience should definitely come join us!

To decribe SALEF as expectional would be an understatement. SALEF has helped me tremendously with the opportunities they have provided me with. In 2013, I was gratefully presented with a scholarship that helped me fund my college tuition. That scholarship gave me a grand amout of hope, motivation, and confidence that I could never repay back. The SALEF staff makes the organization a welcoming place and they are always open to help. They are thoughtful of the Los Angeles community which is visible in the events they plan. I have volunteered at one of their annual Christmas toy giveaways which is a heart warming experience. Seeing families and children happy is rewarding and SALEF goes out of their way to help them make the holidays a joyful event. SALEF has also helped me grow in many ways such as learning the importance of lending a hand to others, despite knowing them or not. They have inspired me to continue with my education and to make a difference in the Latino community. They have inspire me to reach for goals that may seem impossible but, thought hardwork and effort, those goals can be accomplished. I don't know where I would be without SALEF, they have helped shape the person that I am today. They have taught me life long wisdom, supported me along my college journey, and have brighten my life altogether.

SALEF was the first organization that offered me the scholarship I needed to pay for tuition my first quarter at CSULA. I joined this great organization during my sophomore year in high school and I am still part of it because it's time to support and help other students. Since 2010, I been having the great opportunity to be part of many of its events; therefore, I can say that they are totally for the students. All I can say is thank you to all the people who make this possible.

I was awarded a scholarship for 2012 which helped me financially during the academic year. In addition to that I was giving the opportunity to help students in my community who are AB540 just like me by providing them tips on how to receive financial help. Not many Non-Profit organizations such as SALEF give you the opportunity to give back to your community, serve as GREAT mentors during college, and help you expand your social network by meeting people.

I feel really grateful to have found SALEF. It has helped me greatly because they have supported me in my educational career with their scholarship program. I also enjoy volunteering and doing community service hours because everyone is nice and the experiences have helped me grow as a person.

As a young Salvadoran American student I was blessed to have met an organization which met my needs and aimed to serve my demographic. The scholarship recipients I met mostly come from Salvadoran Heritage and are amazing candidates for even more scholarships. I am proud to volunteer with this fund because they have helped me develop leadership skills. I received a scholarship which payed for my housing costs of living on campus. I am also a mentor for two students who will enter high education and believe strongly that SALEF serves more than just the Salvadoran community (for more than 10 years).

This organization unfortunately does not do what it claims to accomplish. They claim to have mentoring program for which they fund raise and it does not exist. My child needed help of a mentor, we requested it and they never contacted me to follow up. They also claim to give scholarships to salvadoran american students and they don't. It seems that many of the programs they claim to have, don't exist; they seem to be a gost agency, only because the "ED" has good PR with some of the local politicians they have exposure to the public, but when it comes to deliver results, they are very short. They should be audited to make sure that the monies go to the students for real.
