Mission: The salt lake art center dba utah museum of contemporary art is a non-profit corporation organized to foster the development of utah and regional contemporary visual art; to educate the public to an appreciation of contemporary visual art and to bring together artists and non-artists into a working organization; to present the work of utah, regional, and national contemporary artists to the public by means of exhibitions and other activities; to promote and increase public interest in contemporary visual art and to educate and stimulate the community in such matters.
Programs: Exhibition galleries - exhibit contemporary art with the purpose of educating the viewer in contemporary art as well as stimulating consideration of current social issues.
public education - special programs offer tours and workshops for children to learn how to create and appreciate art. Adult education programming includes lectures and symposiums to assist in the understanding of the issues addressed by exhibitions.
salt lake art center school - school program that offers adult education classes in photography, digital imaging, and ceramics.
