Results: We are celebrating our 15th year of operation. March 5, 2005 we were meeting in a middle school gymnasium and now 15 years later we have a permanent site near downtown Salem and a satellite site in Dallas, OR.
Target demographics: The uninsured receive the medical, dental, mental health medication management and counseling they need until they receive insurance. Many of our patients are hard-working individuals, but don't make enough to pay for the high cost of healthcare.
Geographic areas served: Salem and Dallas, Oregon
Programs: Our clinic serves the uninsured population in our community who lack access to basic primary care. Although we see a wide variety of presenting conditions, the top three diagnoses for our patient population are mental health, diabetes and hypertension. In 2019, we provided 6,238 patient visits utilizing over 400 volunteer doctors, dentists, dental assistants, dental hygienists, nurses, and support personnel.
Our counseling clinic serves the uninsured population in our community who lack access to counseling services. We have a partnership with Corban University who sends their graduate level counseling students to our clinic to provide counseling services. In 2019, 1,473 client visit hours were provided through the service of 15 volunteers.
Our dental clinic serves the uninsured population in our community who lack access to basic dental care. We provide extractions for those who have significant dental issues including abscess and decay. We hope to start providing simple fillings in the spring on 2020. We also provide dental hygiene services through our partnership with Oregon Tech's Dental Hygiene Program at Chemeketa Community College. Graduating seniors do rotations at our clinic and provide preventative hygiene services for our uninsured patients. In 2019, 565 dental patient visits were provided through the service of 37 volunteers. These are our greatest numbers to date. A huge thank you to our volunteers and financial supporters!
