My husband and I feel very privileged to be a part of the SARL family. We are volunteers who foster cats and kittens. The staff and volunteers are some of the most compassionate people I have ever met. They are truly concerned about every animal at the shelter. They take time to make sure all of them get the attention and love and playtime that they so deserve. They get to know the personalities of each of their guests! That plays a huge part in making sure that all of the animals find a perfect match and a forever home. When you make an appointment at SARL you will get undivided attention and get to spend time with all the available animals. They even have a dog named Finn who volunteers by spending time with the cats to see if they would do well with a dog friend! I can’t say enough good things about this wonderful SARL family. We are so grateful to be a small part of it.
I've been a SARL volunteer for just over three years, and in that time, I've learned the true meaning of compassion. Everyone involved with our organization is dedicated to the welfare of the animals in our care. I've seen cats and dogs who come to us in horrible shape get the medical care, enrichment and, most importantly, the love they need to live their best lives and be adopted into their forever homes.
I've been a volunteer at SARL since 2019. It's an amazing organization staffed by people who are extremely passionate about animal rescue and giving homeless cats and dogs a second chance at a wonderful life. I've seen thousands of animals come through SARL, receive wonderful care during their stay, and then go on to loving homes. My fellow volunteers are equally passionate, devoting hours of their time to help improve the quality of life of the animals. One thing that really stands out about SARL is the lengths to which they go to find the right match for each animal and each client. They work really hard at that. Just ask me, because I'm a client, too. I adopted my dog, Marquis, in June of 2022. He's the BEST!
We got our first senior kitty from SARL. They were amazing about giving us time with Marvin as he was shyer, and explaining his needs. They made sure we were responsible adults who could have a cat, and questions and documents needed were not intrusive. We always sent updates to SARL on Marvin and they were always met with a happy response. Marvin developed asthma when he was with us, and we asked SARL if it was possible to get his prior records to see if anything in there could help with his future treatments. They were amazing and got his past 5 years of records, redacted them and sent them to us. Getting those records were a game changer and understanding any past issues and how he was with his previous owner. While Marvin has passed, we still continue to support SARL through gifts, particpating in contests and of course anything we win, we always donate back to SARL.
SARL is amazing for all that they do for all the animals that they take in to help them get adopted. The staff and the interns give nothing but love, nurture, hugs, playtime, and acknowledgement to each and every animal that comes and goes. They make sure that the animals that get adopted go to a home with a family that is gonna love them as much as they do. Every Friday my company, CrossCountry Mortgage, Salem NH features a spotlight, video and picture of an upcoming animal on animals to help get them adopted and you can see when we are doing the videos how much the animals love them and love the Salem Animal Rescue League Home. No animal feels not loved or wanted in their care❤️
We adopted our dog Abby from the Salem Animal Rescue League. A little more than a year after the adoption, we brought Abby to visit the Salem Animal Rescue League (SARL) for a special event. There was a large crowd of people and amongst them was a special woman, Tiffany, who was very kind to Abby when she lived at SARL.
Abby could not get to Tiffany fast enough! She went right over to her and wanted to give her as much doggie love as possible.
After living with Abby, I can honestly say that is not typical Abby behavior.
She is friendly and sweet to people, but I have never seen her run over to a particular person and try to get as close as possible like she did that day with Tiffany.
It was a joy to witness and such a clear display how the love and caring people at SARL give to animals is forever remembered and treasured by those being helped. We as pet parents are very appreciative of this wonderful organization and of the people who lovingly give their time there.
I am the executive director for Salem Animal Rescue League (SARL). It's an organization that first and foremost recognizes their customer are the animals we serve. Adopters, volunteers, staff, and supporters are the Salem Animal Rescue League family unit. We are here for each other and to care, nurture, socialize, play, and love our furry friends until we find the best match for their forever life. Our support doe's not end on the day of adoption... we are always just a phone call away for advice and assistance. That's what families do.
Had to put my previous cat to sleep back in 2013 due to cancer, and I was very traumatized by it. But I saw this beautiful little black cat that was up for adoption just before, and although I really didn't want to go through the loss of another pet, I knew that if she was still available, that she was meant for me to adopt her. Amazingly, she was still there a week later, so I adopted her. She is the sweetest, most good-natured cat you could ask for. She not only got me through the loss of my previous cat Rusty, but she has also gotten me through the loss of my mother, who passed in 2018 from complications of dementia. Janie has been a constant joy in my life, and if it were not for SARL, I would not have her. They get animals from other states in order to give them a second chance, and I thank God every day for Janie and SARL, and what they do to give animals forever homes.
A great orgnaization that is there for the public to utilize and volunteer for.
They helped a friend of mine who had a dog for over 13 years, by giving the dog a 3 week home so my friend could get some help for herself and not have to worry about her animal.
Also they rescue animals not just from the area but from across the country as needed and as they can.
