Working with Sakshi has been a challenging but rewarding experience for me, as I have learned a lot, witnessed the courage and resilience of the survivors, the dedication and compassion of the counselors, and the support and solidarity of the partners. I have also seen the impact of our work, as we have reached out to thousands of children and adults through awareness campaigns, workshops, helplines and legal aid. I am proud to be part of this project, which is not only a professional endeavor, but also a personal mission for me. I believe that every child deserves a safe and happy childhood, and that we can make a difference by breaking the silence and stigma around child sexual abuse. While understanding the behaviors and impacts of CSA, I also learnt how important it is to give time to yourself to heal and then help others in healing. Testimonies and real-life instances give you the heads-up that the cause you are working for isn't obsolete, it requires action. It's not just a social cause, it's prevention of this vicious cycle of sexual abuse and healing, physical and emotional. And for me a little bit more, an identity and a reason to believe in myself- and a reminder; until you start believing you can't make a change. Apart from this, soft skills essential for the 21st century have been effectively and efficiently carried forward across the youth, thus empowering them for their lifetime and enabling them to empower others around them.
It has been a great experience working with Sakshi. My mentor has been approachable and understanding. Sakshi encourages productive, insightful and joyous workspace. There is a platform for cross learning with collaborative and empathetic colleagues from varied backgrounds. You receive a plethora of experience working in this organization where there is an ample opportunity for growth and development. The experience of being here in the last few months have helped me polish my skills to the next level.

It was a pleasure to attend one of the sessions, a webinar of Sakshi. I felt so empowered and enlightened to know about many things which kept me ignorant for so long.Proud to say that the organization is doing a great job in spreading awareness among youth. Management is good.
What makes Sakshi an extraordinary organisation is the sincerity and commitment of the team. Smita Bharti’s leadership is commendable and inspiring.
Keep up the good work!
Sakshi is an exceptional organization that exemplifies social service and empowerment. Their commitment to education and women's empowerment is commendable. I have witnessed their dedication firsthand, as they provide tangible support to underprivileged children and women in need. Sakshi's holistic approach, focusing on skill development and mentorship, creates sustainable solutions for communities. Their transparent practices and ethical standards inspire trust. Sakshi is a driving force in social service, bringing meaningful change and transforming lives.
The Sakshi team are experts in their subject matter. They are well-intentioned, organised and hard-working.
Founded in 1992, Sakshi is a Non-Profit Organisation headquartered in New Delhi, India.
A pioneer in working for Gender Equality & Responsible Sexuality in India, Sakshi was founded as a rights-based, capacity-building organisation.
Sakshi has been working actively for the last three decades for the prevention of violence against women and children. Sakshi continues its mission to empower organisations and people through research and advocacy, capacity-building workshops, training, communication and social arts for change in order to work towards a society free of violence.
A pioneer in working for Equality & Responsible Sexuality in India, Sakshi was the force behind two landmark PILs – ‘Vishaka Vs. State of Rajasthan’ & ’Sakshi Vs. Union of India’. These PILs have informed four gender-based laws: POSH, POCSO, JJ Act & Sexual Assault Bill.
Sakshi’s flagship project as of now is The Rakshin Project - a gender transformative initiative to prevent child sexual abuse, in partnership with the Directorate of NSS, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, GoI, aims to reach 40,000 colleges, 40 Lakh Youth every two years.
The long-term goal of The Rakshin Project is to institutionalise the programme by building a model for the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports that can be replicated and scaled up through its structure of National Service Scheme (NSS) across colleges in Pan India.
In the pre-pilot stage, Sakshi has reached 616 colleges and over 38000 students, covering 169 districts in 32 States including Union Territories to capacity build young adults with 21st century skills to Prevent Workplace Sexual Harassment and Child Sexual Abuse within their families and communities.
The purpose of The Rakshin Project is to have One Informed, Skill Built Rakshin (Preventor) In Each HOME to Make Homes A Safe Space by preparing the youth to uphold the sanctity of personhood of children within their families by safeguarding them from sexual violence.
The skill built Youth (Rakshin) in turn will build the capacity of their family members to prevent child sexual abuse and arrest the ‘shadow pandemic of GBV’.3
Sakshi believes in the strength of collaboration to achieve the social tipping point required to achieve the goal of a gender equal world, free of child sexual abuse within families and trusted communities.
I realised the impact of the work that Sakshi is doing, when I arranged a workshop in my college on “The Rakshin Project”. Child Sexual Abuse is a serious issue in our country and the more awareness we raise regarding it, the better. Sakshi has taken a very ingenious approach to the problem, by building the capacity of the youth and reaching into the family unit and the community through them.
It’s doing good work in education of people in general in the field of sexual abuse .

Sakshi is doing a phenomenal job in the space of gender. The Rakshin Project, which trains college students to develop awareness on child sexual abuse opens their eyes to a problem that they’d probably never considered and shied away from when they did hear of it. These programmes (each teach two and each teach ten) encourage them to share it with their families, their friends and their communities. They build awareness and vigilance in adults, which is the best protection we can offer children.
Sakshi’s work in the area of Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) for underprivileged women in tea estates is the need of our times.
Well done, Team Sakshi! Keep up the good work!
For those of us in the corporate world - CSR funds can make a big difference to the invaluable work that Sakshi does!

I have experienced Sakthi’s talks myself and heard the passion and ownership their interns bring to their involvement with the organisation. Their material is well-researched, their volunteers believe deeply in the work they do and are well-trained and their reach is excellent.
Great job, Sakshi!! Thank you from us who benefit from the work you do! Keep up the good work!
Sakshi is one of the foremost pillars of social change and justice in our country today. They have created a safe space for people of all genders, ages and diversities and continue to create expand this safe space. I would like to specially mention Project Rakshin by Sakshi, fighting against sexual abuse through education, storytelling and so much more. To sum it up, I’d describe them inspirational. We definitely need more people to know them, join them and fight this fight WITH them.
The awareness Sakshi is spreading has deep impact on the future of society. The norms and life principles are fast changing in the present age of internet, social media and OTTs. The implications are impossible to fathom for Social Psychologists and Scientists. So the NGO’s working amongst the youth to teach them the wrongs, the path to follow in cases they come across, the legal foundations to do the same are doing important work. In fact these NGO’s should be empowered by more volunteers joining and increased funding so their reach and impact goes deeper.

My experience from the first day till date is valuable to me. I gathered alot of information which one should need to know. I look forward to work with this because as per me I am still knowledge less in many aspects, and by being a part of this will make me happy and I can help many others.
Sakshi provide effective platform for making our environment a safe place for all. I am being part of Sakshi's Rakshin project for last one year, Sakshi give me insights on many social evils those people suppress knowingly or unknowingly due to shame, ignorance about it, don't think it's serious or maybe due to patriarchal mindset..., In the same time Sakshi also enlightened to work for bringing changes.
I am highly thankful to shakshi it is because of shakshi i am able to understand problems clearly my level of understanding has broadened.. I have got to know about several things which helped me lot.. It helped me to become bold and optimistic..

Sakshi- a place where I could work with passion for a cause I strongly believed in. I could see myself as a person who has evolved; perspectives widened and saw people with a different lens. A reality check- to know what the ground reality is and progressing to make a positive change. And it is enhanced when you see the commitment of all the members alike towards the cause:)
Hey i am anoushka...
And when I joined Dakshin, I never thought that this program would be a wonderful experience to me.. Not only it has taught me about the society and it's evil happenings but has also given me an insight as to how to improve it...

I got to learn so many new things and experiment with designs. I would recommend Sakshi to anyone that wants to learn and experiment!
It was really a very pleasant & beneficial experience working with Rakhsin project as its a platform where you get the friendly atmosphere to talk about the social problems that are neglected in other platforms..
I gives you chance that without being at a very high social status, you can still bring a change... They give you potential yo be a reason of social progress.. You can become a reason of help for people who are abused or in any difficulty..
What can be more great than bringing peace & happiness to world
Sakshi has equipped me with proper Language to raise my voice against Child Sexual Abuse , Domestic Violence & Gender inequality . I feel much more confident now to have difficult Conversations with my family, friends and colleagues .
I realised how I can contribute my bit in making the surrounding a better place for others by being a "Rakshin " .
# Na galat karenge , Na Karne denge , agr hua hai to bol ke rahenge !
Thanku Sakshi & team for this empowerment!
When I first came across Sakshi, I thought of it as any other NGO but when when I actually started working with the team, I realised what a strong impact it is making in the society by actually teaching hundreds and thousands through so many ways. Child sexual abuse is a matter of serious concern and the way Sakshi is creating awareness regarding this, I'm sure one day we'll freely live in a world where all children will be safe, secure and happy. Long live Sakshi!
You don't need to change the world...you need to help one person and change his/her world.
After being associated with Sakshi for more than a year, I have seen a drastic difference in my knowledge, thoughts, attitude, and practices...I have learned to live a life for others.
Sakshi has changed me; Sakshi has given me a new identity.
Experienced extremely good work environment within this NGO. The team is dedicated towards the cause and achieving the vision of the NGO. The team is extremely helpful and collaborative and works tirelessly to actualise the goals. Along with this special attention is paid to the needs and aspirations of the team members as well.
In this organisation, working as a field facilitator I have been learning new things and having a good exposure to the tea garden environment. Moreover, I am learning more about gender inequality and violence that has been prevailing in recent times. Sakshi is really embracing women empowerment in the areas of tea estates. Acknowledging the women about gender inequality and violence has been a great help for the upliftment of the women in the covered areas of tea gardens in Darjeeling.
Sakshi to me is much more than work. I am delighted to follow my dream and my passion. Sakshi has empowered me to stand out dignified with grace and confidence. I would like to extend my thanks to the Sakshi team for being supportive throughout.
One of the most impactful NGOs which ensures quality work across the country, truly an honour to be working with some of the best people who inspire us to do better everyday.
Even though it is my start with the organisation, it has already improved a lot of my skills and keeps me grounded in the true sense.
Sakshi is one of the most motivated and caring ngos out there. They work hard to create change and they have one of the most cooperative team with strong individuals supporting them! Incredible organisation with incredible leaders. Extremely supportive and helpful to each other and people who are in need.
I have just started interning with Sakshi and it has been a very fun experience. We meet everyday in the morning and everyone is given a chance to communicate. The team has brilliant people and each task is done by involving all.
I came across Sakshi, NGO on the GoBarefoot App, as I was looking for NGOs where I could volunteer as I had lost my job in COVID-19 pandemic and wanted to do some meaningful work for a social cause. I got selected to volunteer for Sakshi in Jan 2021 and was given the project on Safe Space Sessions, entrusted by the Executive Director Ms. Smita Bharti. The cause of Equality and prevention of Child Sexual Abuse is very close to my heart and I find great pride in collaborating with my team to ensure we create more awareness in the society about these issues. I am an active member of the Learning and Development and Marcomm team at Sakshi.
My words will fall short to describe how I felt after joining the family of Rakshins at Sakshi. It's like my inner child got a voice and a beautiful home on this Earth. I've always wanted to see people fighting unitedly against all forms of sexual violence with a sense of commitment in uprooting this evil and thus secure a safe and better world for every kid and adult. Through the Rakshin Project, I came to know the teachers here who are very passionate about providing the real education of Equality and the power of taking a courageous stand for yourself and others instead of silently bearing the injustices. We often fail to ingrain these values to the students/children in schools, colleges and homes in becoming a good and responsible human being first but rather focus on chasing endless personal fulfillment and adjusting to the corruptness in the society. That's simply a soulless system of learning. Sometimes, certain incidents happen in our lives that deeply hurt us, something that has never been taught to us or have imagined to exist and we need someone whom we can trust to share those stories and feelings without them judging us. A few simple words of understanding, support can help in preventing emotional breakdowns, anxieties, and traumas faced by the individuals to let them know that they aren't alone and still have the potential to emerge as strong persons, to lead a happy life of their own. This environment of a safe and healthy community is what all of us must've aspired for a long time and together we can surely make the sunlight reach everyone.
Thanks!
I'm extremely happy to be a part of this wonderful project. It's really a great initiative to abolish such a cruel practice in our country. I wasn't much aware or sensitive towards Child sexual abuse, but after the seminar conducted by Sakshi, I felt that I must contribute towards the betterment of society by being a Rakshin & hence I decided to join this project. I'm lucky enough to learn more about this & being guided by such awesome mentors.
I find their work really important for our society. Sakshi is doing a great job to bring a positive change in the society.
I got to know about the work Sakshi is doing about a year ago. It warms my heart that there are people in this world who care enough to devote their lives to a cause. Hats off to you, Sakshi!
The interaction with sakshi definitely opened my eyes to this heart wrenching problem and how to fight it
The team members are a dedicated lot who firmly believe in the cause
All the best to sakshi and hope they are able to make big differences in the right places
I came to know about Sakshi through my friend Ramya Nisal. it was shocking to see the level of sexual abuse of children in today's society...Sakshi is doing a great work in the field of prevention of sexual abuse of children. Wishing them all the best to continue this great work.
MYSELF RAKESH ,ACCORDING TO ME SAKSHI NGO IS BEST NGO WHICH IS GENUINELY WORKING TO STOP CHILD SEX ABUSE AND SPREADING AWARENESS ABOUT SUCH CRIMES . AND BEST THING IS THEIR WORKING WAYS AND INTERNSHIP GIVEN BY THEM TO CREATE "RAKSCHINS"
I have been been an intern at Sakshi for past two months. The values I am taught in this institution is just tremendous. Sakshi is truly wonderful. And most importantly they are trying their best to prevent child sexual abuse and to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place to live in
I have attended a workshop conducted by Sakshi. They are doing great work in making people aware of child sexual harassment and abuse within and outside homes. The method of the workshop is through theatre, stories and examples. People are made aware of the language and gestures which one needs to be aware of and also the laws which are there to protect oneself. I really enjoyed and learning more about protection from child sexual harassment.
Sakshi is doing a fantastic work towards the society. They are helping people to come out of the situations where the helpless people need support and guidance. Their work is highly appreciable. I myself have seen their dedication and passion towards the betterment of the society.
I wish them Good Luck and would be grateful if I get an opportunity to become a part their cause.
It is run by the sincerest, most hard working people I have ever met. They’ve worked through their toughest battles with intelligence and dedication
Sakshi has been my backbone for a few years. It is because of Sakshi that I have grown so much professionally and I am indebted for their continued support. Thank you Smita Bharti & Naina Kapoor.
Regards,
Anchal Andrews
I came across Sakshi via Instagram and I was really inspired by the cause it was working for , The next minute I opened their their webpage and I applied to be a volunteer and I would say it was one of the best organization.
I have interned with Sakshi for 3 months and it's been a great experience. This was my first time interning with an organization and they received me warmly. You can really tell that the volunteers and other interns here love doing what they do and care deeply about the cause. I've learned so much more than just basic work skills, and to that, I'm grateful to Sakshi.
At Sakshi, I got to use my design skills to contribute to the goals of the organisation. Truly grateful to be part of an organisation working towards the betterment of our society.
The organisation is doing yeomen job in the field of Child sex abuse a object which was till now brushed under carpet. All the Trustees are dedicated workers and their Rakshin project is supported by The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Their work on prevention of Child Sexual abuse making homes a safe place for a child needs to be highly lauded!
I got an opportunity to work for youth from economically weaker sections and mostly from rural areas.
Through sakshi I could make them aware about their rights and helped them in resolving their issues, helped them in councelling and confidence building.
I am proud to be associated with Sakshi.
I've been following their socials for over year and it's truly interesting and engaging content for really pressing issues.
The series on abuse and stuff they do for children is pretty novel and very needed.
Sakshi is the best place to learn the correct things. They teach you how tackle difficult conversations perfectly and confidently.
My experience at Sakshi has been fulfilling as a creative educator, getting the chance to become a member of a community-driven, youth-focused, and incredibly diverse group of individuals. My work has given me an opportunity to learn in an intersection that meets at Art, Design, Communication, Training, and Content Development towards creating a safe space for dialogue and measurable action against Child Sexual Abuse. By facilitating conversations and an open-minded approach, we strive to practice compassion, equality, and healing together as a community.
Sakshi as an organisation works tirelessly towards preventing sexual abuse in its various forms and colour. This is done in so many different ways which are unique in their application.
The projects undertaken handle the sensitive issue with lot of care as well as clarity. And all those associated with implementing it, are engaged and motivated while they work towards bringing in the change that is much needed.
It is an absolute honour to be working with Sakshi, NGO and contributing towards the prevention of child sexual abuse in India
It has been absolutely wonderful volunteering with sakshi. The primary aim of the org is to prevent sexual abuse of children by conducting round the clock workshops. The work can be overwhelming but it is a good opportunity to have a sneak peak about behind the scenes of an ngo.
The team is chilled out and extremely friendly.
Sakshi is a pioneer in the field of Child Sexual Abuse and Gender-Based Violence. Their expertise makes it an amazing place to work since there is a lot to learn and the team is extremly smart, supportive and diligent.
The project they are undertaking is the first of its kind and is genius. It is my pleasure and honour to be associated with Sakshi and The Rakshin Project.
I came to know of Sakshi 5 years ago.
The work that Sakshi does, the thought process it follows, the target it wants to achieve are not only unique but a need of the hour with priority yesterday. The result it works towards is desired by all, surely, but no one knows what has to be done.
I resonate with the principles, and I assure you, the experience is unseconded!
Kudos and all the best.
I work with Sakshi and tbvh it's amazing. The kind of work they do is what we should all be doing everyday or even a bit of that. They all are very nice people. It really takes a matter of confidence and courage to do something apart from yourself...and that's what Sakshi is known for, it's amazing work.
Honest efforts and a relentless stride to make world a better place.
My experience with Sakshi has taught me that there is hope for the future. And that it's time to take action to unlearn, inform, intervene, and be an active bystander in the face of discrimination.
I'm a doctor who stopped practice after 23 years, trying to find new meaning to my life. I found that in Sakshi and the Rakshin Project.
With transformative and restorative justice as the ultimate goal, Sakshi is an organization that is working tirelessly for systemic change to systemic issues. Their model especially with The Rakshin Project gives everyone an opportunity to learn and to effect change. By creating a system of changemakers they are ensuring societal change.
I was a volunteer at Sakshi! I enjoyed working closely with Smita Maam and Natashja, they taught me a lot.
I choose to leave my job and work with them cause I was inspired by this one of a kind NGO which was working towards real reforms that are urgently needed in the society.
The team was extremely helpful and let me explore myself, the meeting table was always open to discussions and suggestions for everyone!
Smita and Natashja’s teachings and friendship will be with me for my life!
I started as a Volunteer with Sakshi 4 years ago and i’m honoured to be on the board of this prestigious organisation. Sakshi’s focus on building accountable communities with a focus on prevention is not just sustainable but a unique and much needed model to combat gender-based violence and child sexual abuse.
