SAINA and it’s board members are tirelessly working since the inception of this association. They are at forefront on educational activities and service events. The educational activities provided are not just limited to nursing topics, but goes way beyond that, a few examples are financial literacy, leadership skills, life skills etc.The President Sam Merchant is not only fully visible but is the first one to roll his sleeves up and dive head first into activities and still able to perform his task of president impeccably. Many times makes me think that he has more than 24 hours in his day.We take pride not only for his leadership but also by how he is respected by other leaders in the community.GO SAINA!!!

Hello everyone, my name is Mariamma Shaju. I am a nurse with 35 years of experience in multispecialty and currently working in UHS as a nurse manager. I am one of the founding members of the San Antonio Indian Nurses Association, a non-profit organization. I have seen great enthusiasm in every member, making the organization grow and giving back to society by conducting medical check-ups, donating blankets, hygiene kits, and fans. SAINA extended its help to people in India who were affected by the pandemic COVID 19. I would like to take this opportunity to thank this non-profit organization for recognizing the front-line nurses for serving the community during the pandemic. On May 12th, nurse’s day, SAINA gave attractive gifts to all its members. SAINA motivates fellow nurses to advance in their career and education by finding community partners in education and scholarship. I am proud to be a member of SAINA and my involvement in SAINA helped me become a recipient of the 25 Best Nurses in South Texas Award and the Exemplary Professional Practice Award from SAINA in 2019. Currently, I am serving as a chair of the editorial committee.
With just a one-time membership fee, you get to be part of a great non-profit organization, have opportunities to serve the community, gain knowledge, increase your skills in leadership and moreover, lots of free CU’s, saving some money.
This organization provides a lot of help not only to nurses but to the community through projects that they sponsor and events that help the community. I had decided to be a member because they were providing a free certification class but as I learn more of the organization I realize that they have great aspirations to be able to help a lot of people. Sam who is the current President of SAINA contributes so much of his time to be able to help nurses by being a mentor, by conducting Certification Reviews. I am really impressed with this organization.
A selfless non-profit for nurses and the fastest growing organization in South Texas. The only organization that is committed to providing FREE education to its members. The value that members get is tremendous and the amount of service that SAINA provides to the nursing community and to the San Antonio community is remarkable. The organization truly practices its motto of "Service Before Self" in every interaction it has. So proud of being a member of SAINA.
