Causes: Domestic Violence, Family Violence Shelters, Homeless & Housing
Mission: To provide shelter and advocacy services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking in the 11 counties of southeast kansas.
Programs: The safehouse crisis center sheltered 205 unduplicated victims for a total number of shelter units of 4,982, representing an average of 14 victims per day. The safehouse crisis center houses the child exchange and visitation center in pittsburg and provides families in crisis with child and exchange visitation services. Additionally, the safehouse crisis center works with all adult and child victims of domestic violence and sexual assault on personal safety plans and makes available through collaborative efforts with community agencies on self-esteem and confidence building,parenting skills, self-defense, nutrition, banking and budgeting, and other life skills.
