Super rewarding experience where you can see the difference you make every day! Whether it’s meditative mucking of a stall or the physical changes the horses and ponies go through as they’re rehabilitated. Every pony has their own unique personality and is finally given the chance to shine and feel love, sometimes for the first time ever… Volunteering here means not only seeing a horse but learning how to safely interact and care for them. Educational opportunities from learning vet care to how to train a horse from the start all under the direction of Tina Snyder the founder. An opportunity to learn not only about equines but about yourself and what you’re capable of!
This is one mighty farm! It is truly accepting and inclusive of everyone - both equine and human! My family has gained so much experience and knowledge with equine care, best practices, and the importance of rescue work. We have learned and experienced the amazing healing gifts of equines - my daughter is a cancer survivor and has a TBI - horses have literally saved her life and rehabilitated her. She now rides and is learning all about rescue and how to support the mission for the next generation.
I love their work with Veterans as well - experiential programs that are either group or individual oriented my husband is a 100% disabled combat veteran and the techniques and community are so valuable.
I am in awe of the level that they will go to help equines in need - not only from auction but from the community - they even help with education and learning for new horse owners or those who need help.
Cannot say enough about this farm! Just amazing and so grateful!
SHEW is amazing! It is a wonderful place to volunteer and see how well they take care of horses and bring them back to health.
Safe Haven Equine Warriors is a wonderful organization doing amazing things for horses. Everyone involved in SHEW is dedicated to the mission of saving neglected, abused and unwanted horses. SHEW has rehabbed and rehomed many horses and brings people and horses together through on farm and community events.
Safe Haven is a rescue for horses, however they rescued me from the grief of losing my Dad. I was a horse lover as a young girl. After the loss of my father I started a ground class with the rescue horses, which then graduated to a riding class!! My horse passion was reignited and a wonderful new journey was begun!! SHEW rescued me!!!
Tina is very well known in the world of horse rescue and I am amazed by the phenomenal work of this organization. In recent weeks I helped to set up a new quarantine barn as they prepare to go to auction and save more horses. I was inspired by the dedication of this 100 % volunteer based organization.
I love volunteering at SHEW events. They are always so organized and really make it easy to do your job. You can see the horses they’ve rescued and rehabilitated at their events, which is wonderful because you can see first hand what your donations and hard work goes towards.
I have had the honor of being a part of this wonderful organization from its inception. Having this unique position of seeing this organization grow and change the lives of each horse/pony that has come through its doors has been truly rewarding and gratifying. It has allowed me to grow personally and gain valuable knowledge in the care and handling of horses. S.H.E.W. takes great responsibility to pledge it has the resources to ensure that each horse/pony that it takes in can be provided with the best veterinary, farrier and training during its rehabilitation in order to make sure their adoptability is viable. By taking these vital steps, S.H.E.W. is giving that horse/pony the best possible outcome to have a second chance in life.
Why I enjoy being a part of S.H.E.W. is because of the community of volunteers and the power of being part of change. Witnessing what each person brings that is unique and an important part of S.H.E.W.’s success is gratifying. S.H.E.W. understands that it is key to provide an enriching experience to its community of volunteers and values this experience by teaching good horsemanship from the basics to hands-on training. S.H.E.W.’s goal is not only horse rescue but it is making great strides to change and educate the community of the perils that all equines face in today’s world. The greatest value I see from being part of this horse rescue is the wealth of experiences that even our youngest generation gains by their involvement of taking a life that was on the edge of giving up to blossoming into a life that was meant to be all it can be. Seeing the pride that young person has and the tears of joy they have when the time comes to handover the horse they had the honor to help transform in order to give that horse the best chance ever for a new loving home is priceless. S.H.E.W. is providing our next generation with lessons in life that they can only learn by being involved in change, giving of their time and commitment to something they are passionate and believe in.
S.H.E.W. is small, but mighty in its efforts to change the life of a horse or pony in need. I am extremely proud to be part of this wonderful organization and it’s community of volunteers and supporters as a whole, they are what brings strength to what we do and accomplish…one horse/pony at a time needing a safe place to land. Join us and see the power of a community that seeks to bring hope to both equines and humans.
