I have been affiliated with SACRED since its inception. I have witnessed the organization's growth and progress. A personal experience by SACRED founders, John & Carol Dattoma, has evolved into a beacon of light for others who have been exposed to the horror of sexual abuse. SACRED's unwavering commitment to these children and their families provides hope, promise and the necessary means to move forward with support, grace and dignity.

I've been following and donating to the wonderful work done by Sacred. I follow the aid and spending of any non profit I donate to and am impressed by their compassion to those that need their help and their ability to spend money on clients, not overhead.

Sacred is an incredible partner of Sunflower House, the child advocacy center serving Johnson and Wyandotte Counties in KS. Sacred assist our families with much needed support. They have assisted our families in changing locks on doors, purchasing new beds and helping a non-offending caregiver relocate their family. We are grateful that Sacred is available when we need to "phone a friend" to best serve the kids and families in our community.

As a forensic nurse who cares for abused children, I understand how vital this unique non-profit organization is. Tragically, finances sometimes make it difficult for a loving parent to get an abused child out of an abusive situation, replace necessities taken as evidence, or replace items that remind a child of the abuse. SACRED helps with these things, providing immediate financial assistance to families impacted by child sexual abuse. All families are referred by Child Advocacy Centers. I volunteer for this organization because I believe in their mission, and have seen the dramatic impact SACRED has on helping children heal from abuse.

The one important thing I can take away is the sharing of stories, and making it okay to share these stories to educate others. I don't know personally, but I can imagine the feeling of guilt, and shame for something they don't deserve to have these feelings about. There is anger, and rage that goes along with this but keeping the victims safe is most important. I can empathize for the families of abused children, and wish in all my soul I could make it go away. SACRED is incredible to those in need. Most people don't realize what victims and families go through when a child is sexually abused. Between the loss of hours, loss of pay, need for therapy, the cost associated with these things aren't covered by restitution or the courts. If not for SACRED many of these families wouldn't be able to pay their bills, afford mortgages or therapy. Recovery takes a long time and SACRED helps to cover some of these costs. In 2019 alone, SACRED helped 55 families with 163 children. These funds come from Auctions and private donors. This isn't something our government or victims services puts out.

I have referred families to SACRED and been consistently impressed and inspired. SACRED short-term funds have helped these families to be able to maintain basic needs in order to allow the family time to sort out longer-term practical plans. The process supports privacy and is time efficient. All of this allows the family to be able to focus more on thoughts and emotions during the pivotal time period rather than having to postpone healing while struggling at the survival level. I appreciate how easy it is to ask a question (such as quick email replies) and how those at SACRED go above and beyond when possible (such as around situations with unusual/additional needs).

Sacred is a wonderful organization that fills an important gap for victims of child sexual abuse. They work only with Children’s Advocacy Centers, like Sunflower House, to vet and refer families facing an immediate, unexpected financial crisis because of experiencing child sexual abuse, often at the hands of the family’s breadwinner. They provide funds to pay for rent, utilities, food, and other needs for a month or two until the family is processed to receive victim assistance funds. It is a lifeline for many families at a time when they need compassion and help the most! The founders, the D'Attomas, do all their work voluntarily, with no compensation, so all the money raised goes directly to fulfill the mission of the organization.

SACRED-Sexually Abused Children's Relief Endeavor is a unique nonprofit, unlike any other in that it provides financial resources directly to families impacted by child sexual abuse. They do this in partnership with Child Advocacy Centers. When a family experiences the trauma of child sexual abuse, their journey has just begun in navigating the judicial system and most often face the significant and immediate loss of financial stability. This is where SACRED steps in. By working with Child Advocacy Centers that apply for a SACRED grant, SACRED provides the necessary and immediate financial resources to help the family through their trauma. The officers of SACRED receive no financial compensation for their work. They raise money through direct donations and fundraising efforts. SACRED offers families an opportunity to heal.

Sacred supports families of children who have experienced sexual abuse with immediate financial assistance. The assistance often allows these families the ability to move to a location unknown by the perpetrator, or time to regroup with therapy and other services. It truly makes a difference to the families and is a wonderful resource.

For a smaller nonprofit charity, they do great work and as they grow, they will be able to help a wide range of those in need.

I know from experience the work that Scared does for Abused Children in the Mid West and more recently other parts of the country . I cant think of a more useful way to donate to these children and families who have nowhere to turn for help . I didn't know about SACRED until I happen to meet Carol and John D'Attoma. I learned of their non-profit organization and heard their passion about SACRED in telling of their personal story. It is run by tremendously caring and compassionate volunteers who are dedicated to helping children who have been victims of sexual abuse and their families. The funds go directly to support these victims and their families in their immediate time of crisis as well as supporting afterwards, education and prevention. Supporting SACRED is a great way to help in our community!

There is simply no organization the fills this need for child victims and their families. Providing immediate assistance takes one less thing off their minds and enables the focus to be on starting the healing process. Even better, all donations go to the children. This organization provides immediate temporary assistance to families of abuse. It’s a way for these families to catch a breath, and get back on their feet. Many times the breadwinner is the abuser, which makes it difficult for the family to leave the abuser. Our small staff is all volunteer and funds raised go directly to those in need

John and Carol D'Attoma are two people who are passionate about Sacred and genuinely care about people. The idea of providing financial support in a terrible situation is more than words can say. We love working with sacred! The mission of this group comes from personal experience and from the heart. How do you heal from such a devastating event? Carol and John are there to provide a bridge and to give real support. I also love that they are linked in with all the larger agencies in the city, because it truly does take a village to make change happen!

I became aware of this organization four years ago when I learned of how the organization came into existence back in 2006 and what they were doing to assist children who are victims of child sexual abuse whose family has been impacted financially. The founders and officers are passionate about the cause of helping these children and families transition out of their harmful situations. The founders, who themselves were affected by sexual abuse of a grand-daughter, have been effective in garnering help and support from their friends and other supporters to understand the importance of moving quickly and deliberately to help families in their time of desperation. The board works with Certified Child Advocacy Centers to provide help within 24 hours of a request because they belief that financial concern should not get in the way of protecting children. The board has also made it fun and satisfying for people to dig into their pockets and donate to the cause. Because most of the proceeds go directly to the affected families, supporters feel comfortable donating and knowing that their donations will not be used for operational expenses or wasted. Their largest fund raising event is their annual wine auction for which all the wine and other products for the auction are donated. The organization does not spend money putting on the event. Supporters provide the space, supplies and their services for this event. This is a fun event, which is usually a themed event during which attendees get into and stay in character. It can be funny seeing serious and professional people dress up and act otherwise. I would encourage anyone who is serious about protecting children to support this organization.

Since 2009, sacred has granted over $200,000 to families with sexual abused children to help with their immediate financial needs when they suffer a loss of income due to the sexual abuse of a child. Checks are sent within 24hrs of an approved application so funds can be of immediate help to support housing, food, clothing, counseling, utilities and other necessities. No other agency does this. It has been the most rewarding work we do. Thanks for all the support

I can't think of a charitable effort that is more needed than Sacred. I am proud and honored to help contribute to all that John and Carol do for these families. It is subject matter that nobody wants to admit is real. The sad truth is that it is very real and likely much closer to all of us than we can fathom.
