The people at Sacred Animal Sanctuary are so caring for all animals. They take the discarded and the lost and give them a warm and loving home. From Stray cats, horses who can no longer be ridden to Dogs that no one else wants. They have such a variety and the animals do not have to worry that some day they won't have a home. They are there forever!

Sacred Animal is the mot amazing place. They accept so amny different types of animals and even through their own battles, they still keep going and going and going.
The people at the sanctuary are all totally devoted to the loving care of the animals. From Lisa and her mom, to the wonderful volunteers, all truly committed to their mission.
I took some residents to the sanctuary last summer and we were given a tour, met all the animals and were treated to a wonderful BBQ lunch. The hospitality and friendliness of everyone is beyond measure.
As an animal lover, I would encourage supporting this nonprofit in any way you can.
It is my pleasure to put in a good word. Vanessa Uhrig, Life Enrichment Director, Shorewood Senior Living
When I first contacted Lisa and her mother Lauren, they graciously invited me out to see their sanctuary and meet the animals. Despite the fact that both were under the weather, they made sure I got the grand tour including information on the beautiful grapes that grew there! They are tirelessly and selflessly devoted to every animal there. Since I am a cat person, they loved introducing me to their cats and telling me their stories. The cats had so much room and places to sleep and climb and stretch out! But they weren't going to let me go after seeing the animals! They invited me to a simple, healthy, delicious lunch and we talked about everything. This sanctuary is about as devoted to animals as I have ever seen. I am proud and happy to call them friends!
As a retired accounting professional having worked in non-profits and having audited non-profits over a lifetime, I’ve come across my share of financial waste. So, it is of importance to me to familiarize myself with organizations I choose to support with my time and money, especially ones that consider themselves private non-profits because they don’t receive government and other types of funding. They are not required to provide what I consider the information necessary to make informed decisions, so it is imperative to ask questions. The Sacred Animal Sanctuary readily provided me with information, including bank statements, in order for me to feel comfortable with my support, mostly time commitments. There is not one questionable transaction on their books. Of course, that would likely be the case since the amount of money raised is less than the costs of operating the sanctuary. Lisa & her mother have to provide their own funds to keep the sanctuary running. I have contributed what I can on a retired budget, but it would be nice if someone could be a benefactor and provide an additional $10,000, so Lisa would not have to work and spend more time with the animals. As a care-for-life sanctuary, there isn’t much involvement with the public once the animal arrives, e.g. adoption activities, so the opportunities for exposure are limited in raising funds. Also, many sanctuaries do not have many public events because they are concerned if the general public knows their exact location, the possibilities would increase in having people drop animals over the fence. So, if you would like to make a real difference for the animals & Lisa & her senior Mom and feel confident that 100% of your money goes for a good cause, please consider this special place. Robert S.
I donated in excess of $10,000 last year to this animal sanctuary run by a mother-daughter team outside Eugene, OR. Lauren and Lisa really care about these animals and make sure that they have a loving "forever" home. These two are tireless workers who give all their energy to making Sacred Animal Sanctuary a truly wonderful place for these animals. All proceeds go directly to the feeding and care of the animals. This is NOT like other "non-profits," where a small percentage goes to the cause and the rest to its administration. So please, DONATE now!!!
I have been out to this Animal Sanctuary many times. It is clean, well kept and organized. The incredible love these two Ladies have for each Animal is so beautiful. So many Happy Animals! The last thing I saw before I left the Sanctuary,on My last visit, was LiSA kissing a big Ram on His forehead. She whispered sweet things to Him. These ladies entire Life is about caring for these Animals.
These ladies show so much compassion. The animals have hit the jack pot, at their beautiful place. They are taking the dogs, cats, pigs and horses, no one else wants. Special people doing a special thing.
The Sacred Animal Sanctuary in Walton, Oregon is a living, breathing space of spirit in animal rescue. The welfare of all furry beings is tantamount. The feeling of gratitude is expressed in the eyes of all the animals we have met that live here and their loving natures are infectious. A daughter and senior Mom run this 501©(3) non-profit, Care-For-Life Sanctuary, as a place of love for unwanted (mostly senior animals) and abused domestic and farm animals. A peaceful sanctuary where those abandoned can find their forever love home. The wildlife is also protected and supported and live peacefully in this 100 acre location. If you’re looking for an organization where 100% of your donations goes to the animals this is it! Volunteer/Animal Advocate!
This is one of the best rescues I know. The animals are so happy, these ladies could not be more caring. From pigs to dogs, cat and horses, all animals are well taken care of, on a beautiful piece of property, that the ladies take care of with their own blood sweat and tears. This is a rescue sanctuary, where the animals now have a forever home.
Love. Sacred sanctuary is a beautiful place for gorgeous animals to roam and be graciously cared for.
The tail wags and happy sounds are the true story of life at its fullest. Having been given a new chance at a rich and contented life, all of the creatures, big and small, are living in peace in this sanctuary, their forever home.
The volunteer staff cares so much for all of these rescued animals! Sick, abused, and neglected animals are living out the rest of their days without the trauma that was their life before coming here.
Green pastures, trees and native plants combine to make the setting of this sanctuary a special place. Everyday work is carried out to maintain and enrich the lives of all the animals as well as the environment. With so many animals to care for it is a constant job to ensure the yards, fences, gates, etc are working to keep all the animals safe and content. Not to mention how much feed!
Lisa and Lauren have dedicated their own lives to caring for these animals, genuine and kind hearted in their endeavor of giving these rescued animals the peace they deserve.
This Sanctuary runs completely on donations. Please consider a visit to experience the peace of this place. If a visit is not possible, a donation is always deeply appreciated.
Please help these truly special animals.
Thank you,
Theresa Jones
I've participated in Sacred Animal Sanctuary since it's beginnings and before. It's a beautiful setting and all the animals are not just taken care of but they are loved! They all have names and their personalities are known.
More than that is the part that we don't talk about enough...the end. I've participated in and have sat vigil as some have passed. The love and kindness and comfort is truly the real proof of the happily ever after. Not one goes alone. Not one goes in pain. It truly is a Sacred Animal Sanctuary.
I recently went out to visit Sacred Animal Sanctuary, an all "animal rescue" ranch, and I was so deeply moved. The setting is idyllic and is nestled in a valley between two mountain ranges of sloping forest and a creek. The property is perfectly enclosed like a loving womb for rehabilitation and rejuvenation. Human or animal, one cannot help but feel the inner peace. The property was well maintained and the animals were all well taken care of.
I was initially struck by 2 volunteers lovingly exercising a huge rottweiler dog, playing tug of war and throwing a ball and giving him lots of one-on-one attention and hugs in a large separate enclosure. This gentle giant was getting his play time and loving it! The volunteers had formed such a strong bond of trust when I know most people would be reluctant to get in a pen with this breed, if not already rehabilitated from being previously abused. I also saw a German Shepherd, other rotties, a golden retriever and some other large breeds. I marveled how they got along so well and had their own igloo style dog houses/pens with outdoor access, in another area just for them.
As I continued on my farm tour with Lisa, and walked about the property and visited the barn I met an older ewe who was being treated for illness. There was such a loving exchange between Lisa and this sheep as Lisa softly spoke to her. (they all have names and respond more like pets than they do farm animals). There was also an elderly mare that was in her 20's, wrapped in a blanket and kept in the barn this cold winter morning for added warmth. No expense is spared to truly care for these animals and consider their comfort, as the vet had already been called to care for the ewe who was being dosed with antibiotics orally twice a day by Lisa. The care is genuinely given from a place of service to these wonderful creatures.
Nearby, there was a large room, the cattery, with many cats of all breeds and personalities. These affectionate souls all came over to get their love and attention and they were not shy about it. ME (ow) first ! I wanted to take a few home as they were so sweet! They were well fed and the room kept clean. This was a huge play room of sorts with high perches for nesting and climbing up to a high ceiling. I was told that many of the animals are here because the owners got very ill or passed away and no one would take these creatures, so SAS did ;-) That was remarkable to see how friendly they all were as I knew someone really had to be present with them to make them all feel so loved.
After that I walked to the back part of the property where a huge meadow awaited. There are large towering trees for shade in the summer and other animals too. What tickled my heart the most was seeing 2 large goats, a llama and a donkey and a sheep all trot over when Lisa called to them from the back meadow. They all came as fast as they could with their unique gaits when they heard Lisa call to them by name. I laughed out loud with delight. I was able to pet each of their heads as they strained over the farm gate for me to reach them. My heart smiled as I saw different species united from real love that creates trust. I was rather struck by this and that was my take away. Humans can take a lesson here in getting along better in the world. There were also 2 horses in another pasture separated by a fence that were yearning to get a closer look at me too.
Volunteers are treated well too. Lauren, another volunteer, will cook an absolutely delicious lunch for the volunteers. This was real Italian cooking with secret family recipes too! Oh, and the high end organic, dark Maximillian Chocolate Lauren makes too to raise funds for the animals is heavenly. You can order online. We all know food is a uniting factor in creating a bond of trust from being well nourished. Many good people, with different talents will make an organization successful. That is the case here as well. I was so inspired that I plan to volunteer in the future and support this wonderful non-profit for animals financially, as well. I can see all the good work that SAS does and their reasons are pure. These animals would have been euthanized as they would have been difficult to place being older or previously abandoned or abused animals. Instead, they are all thriving and loving the life that God has brought to their sweet Spirits. Well done SAS!!
Many blessings for your continued success!

There is no place more serene for the seniors at this sanctuary! Surrounded by the Siuslaw National Forest the animals are able to come and retire to a life of love and happiness. Have you ever seen horses want to be friends so bad they lean over a fence to hug each other from the other side of the fence? I have! It’s beautiful to watch a rescued animal re-find itself shedding its fear and sadness. Sacred Animal Sanctuary is peace on Earth.
Sacred Animal Sanctuary is "Where It's Never Too Late To Live Happily Ever After" and it shows as every dollar goes directly to the Animals.
The Animals are mostly seniors that have come into the Sanctuary with an unpleasant series of unfortunate events that they have endured. This ALL Volunteer run nonprofit goes beyond just rehabilitation and gives them the LIFE they were meant to live.
Here's one of many... Meet Drax...
Drax came to the Sanctuary after being found as a stray. He was an intact 10 year old Rottweiler with no teeth in the front on the top or bottom, emaciated, no hair from basically the middle of his back to the back of his legs and he had eyelids that were curled under destroying his vision, not to mention his extreme fear of people. His rehab has taken 6 months to include Entropion Bilateral surgery on both eyes, Neuter and Special Diet to gain both Weight & Muscle. Slow socialization with the Volunteers to regain his trust in people. Today he is living the Dream... Picture 1 is the Before, 2 & 3 is during Rehab, 4 is the Today just Happily Meditating at his "FOREVER" home!
