Mission: Shelter and empower victims of intimate partner domestic violence
Programs: Shelter - houses daily up to 105 adults and children. All residents receive free room and board. Adult services include counseling, classes in the dynamics and effects of domestic violence, parenting skills, extensive case management, safety planning, assistance with job development skills and referrals to other resources in the community as needed. Children's services include children's individual and group therapy, including art/play therapy, educational and community activities and assistance in developing a safety plan should the violence reoccur. During the current year, 764 persons received shelter services.
supportive housing - a two year program that assists participants in acquiring permanent housing while working on self-sufficiency and life goals with a case manager until graduation from the program. During the current year, 186 persons received supportive housing services.
thrift store - receives donated clothing, household items, and furniture. As needed, donated items are provided to shelter residents and housing participants at no cost. All other usable items are sold and the proceeds used to support the activities of s. A. F. E. House, inc.
