Mission: RxArt is a non-profit organization dedicated to placing original fine art in patient, procedure and examination rooms of healthcare facilities, at no cost to the institution. Our mission is to improve otherwise sterile environments through contemporary art, promote healing, and inspire hope in patients, families and staff. RxArt supports the belief that artistic excellence should not be compromised while working in a healthcare context. We work with hospital staff and respected art professionals from across the country to actively consider the most appropriate artwork for specific environments. Artwork may be commissioned or we may negotiate the purchase of outstanding existing pieces.

Programs: RxArt's collection contains works by artists who are household names and whose artworks are held in museums worldwide including Vito Acconci, Will Cotton, Rob Pruitt, Matthew Ritchie, Alexis Rockman, Frank Stella, Wolfgang Tillmans, Fred Tomaselli and William Wegman. In addition, we have published an artist's coloring book, Between the Lines, which we distribute free to children in our partner healthcare facilities, with works by more than 50 artists including Rita Ackermann, John Baldessari, Alexander Calder, Mark Grotjahn and Sol LeWitt. The staff and patients at our partner institutions are delighted with our projects and report that they have made real and crucial contributions to healing in the hospital environment.RxArt currently serves hundreds of thousands of people in fourteen healthcare facilities. These include Beth Israel Medical Center, NY; Bronx Lebanon Hospital, NY; Children's Hospital Boston, MA; Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center, NY; Hassenfeld Children?s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, NY; Mount Sinai Hospital, NY; The New York Center for Children, NY; NYU Child Study Center, NY; Rockefeller University Hospital, NY; Roosevelt Hospital, NY; Schneider Children's Hospital of the North-Shore LIJ Health System, NY; St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital, TN; St. Luke's Hospital, NY; and St. Vincent?s Hospital, NY.
