Mission: The Mission of the RISE - Rural India Student Education Foundation is to increase educational opportunities to children in rural India. This will be accomplished by: *Education - Traditional and Montessorri methods to enable students to meet and exceed Indian and international educational standards. *Character - character building through the practice of high ethical, moral, and spiritual values. *Culture - multicultural understanding through music, dance, and art. *Recreation - sports and physical activities to develop skills including teamwork, self esteem, discipline.
Programs: The academic programs of RISE school are based on Montessorri and other modern teaching methodology for ages 2 1/2 through 6 followed by more modern up to date teaching system for the later years. It is a full fledged school with playground, music, teaching facilities, spiritual studies with emphasis on moral and ethical values. In addition, the school will focus on vocational guidance. There are currently 60 children attending the school, ages 2 1/2 - 6 years old. The students come from local villages in a 3-4 km radius. Each year, another class is added with approximately 20 students. RISE school is located in the village of Thimmanguthu. Its location is exceptional; surrounded by the western ghats, a perennial river and green vegetation. It is close to National wildlife preserve, Anamalai mountains and waterfall and Alayar dam.
