Very organized and professionally run meetings. Run-Walk Events made it easy for me to participate. Our meetings well held as video conferences. There was also a phone number we could call in.
I had the privilege to get to work on Run-Walk Events website for the past few months. I learned a lot from the experience, and had a great time collaborating with the team. I'm so thankful that Run-Walk Events gave me a way to connect my passion for running with my passion for web development
I worked wit Run-Walk Events during their Race Across the USA, where 12 marathon runners a marathon a day (with one day off per week) traveling from Huntington Beach, CA to Washington DC. Along the way they were attending schools to talk to the kids about fitness and share their love for running. I joined the team as an off-site editor and would receive video from their school events and daily runs a few times a week, when they were able to get online. From there I would help deliver short edits that they could share on their social media for people following the runners, they were then going to develop the footage into a documentary. When I joined the team I was looking for full-time work as a video editor, so having the experience of creating dailies and working with a producer that was on-site while I was in California taught me a lot. I enjoyed working with the whole team and really loved the message they were trying to spread. If I was able to work with Darren and his team again, I think they're doing some really interesting work in this space!
I worked directly with Run-Walk Events for Race Across USA which was a transcontinental foot race that occurred in 2015. It was a great experience. I helped support 12 runners race across the country and share an important message of childhood health and fitness along the way. I was the assistant race director and helped create video and social media content, transport/support runners and organize school visits. I was personally impacted by RWE by meeting several lifelong friends and also meeting my first full-time employer out of college. I'd highly recommend this organization and its amazing leadership!
Being a Race Director for Run-Walk Events completely transformed my career path! I was able to work on so many skills such as leadership, logistics and management and am now using those skills in my current field. For anyone looking to break into event management, sports management, event planning or logistics, I would highly recommend getting involved with Run-Walk Events! Plus, you get to be part of changing lives for the better, there in your very own community! It's a win-win!!!
I truly enjoy volunteering with Run-Walk Events. I have been given the opportunity to learn many new skills and strengthen existing ones. My work is challenging and engaging, and I'm provided with support and feedback. Being able to work at my own speed, on my own schedule, is a great benefit. Run-Walk Events is a wonderful mission-oriented organization. I'm pleased to be a part of it.
I am an IT retiree and welcome the opportunity to apply and grow with RWE. It is indeed a very professional environment. RWE allows me to build new skills with personal and reference material.
As a volunteer, Run-Walk Events has allowed me to pursue my passion for fitness and I have been able to learn strategies of marketing and getting involved with the community! Run-Walk Events mission to inspire health into future generations is an excellent way to involve all generations!
Hi. My name is Angelo. I am a full-time employee in the Tech Sector. Though I am busy, I like to give back when I can. I was able to contribute by rebranding the runwalkevents.org website. I was able to do it on my schedule, slowly, nights and weekends. Though I had already created a website for another nonprofit, I still learned a tremendous amount. And, Run-Walk Events made sure that the work stayed challenging and provided excellent document and feedback along the way. This field keeps on changing and with this volunteer opportunity, I was able to keep my skills up and help out a worthy cause.
Hi. My name is Minal and I am a graduate student at Northeastern University. I worked with Run-Walk Events as an Project Manager Intern, to put together a Request for Proposal for the Webmaster Project. After it was approved, I issued it to several contractors who specialize in website monitoring and support. This volunteer opportunity gave me a way to manage a project of my own end to end, build project management artifacts like the charter and schedule, find the candidates and then document my results for evaluation by the decision committee. I learned so much during my time with Run-Walk Events. Darren was a great mentor and working with him was a valuable experience as I learnt more about the dynamics of project management. I received a very nice recommendation letter which will surely help me after I graduate.
