By far the most organized and effective rescue I have ever volunteered at (farrier work donated for several years). I have adopted a dog and horse from them and adore them both. It's so refreshing to know that a rescue can be managed as thoughtfully and responsibly as Rugby Creek, and I've always felt so appreciated for the work I do for them!

Target demographics: Animals in Need!
Direct beneficiaries per year: approximately 30-50 horses in need and helped save and network 50-100 dogs
Geographic areas served: Virginia & North Carolina's Appalachian & Blue Ridge Mountain Communities (and other nearby areas)
Programs: RCAR is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, retirement and adoption of at-risk, injured and geriatric animals. We work closely the Animal Control Agencies in several states and multiple counties to provide them with assistance and education. We also provide the public with educational information, assistance and courtesy posts to help them provide, care for and/or place their animals. Throughout the year we network with several other non-profit rescue organizations to help save, network, transport and adopt animals in need.
