Rosemary Farm Sanctuary is one of those wonderful sanctuaries that is totally transparent about what they do and how they use supporters' money. They so clearly have the horses' welfare as top priority, even when that means difficult choices must be made. Living overseas, I don't have the chance to visit the farm. But visits from the public are encouraged, which says a lot! The fact that these wonderful people do everything they can to let unwanted or abused horses live out their days as all horses should--that speaks volumes.
I've been following and donating to Rosemary Farm for over 10 years. They are what a sanctuary/rescue should be. They work with their full hearts and give more than 100% every day. Dawn writes about the horses and you feel like you are there. On my bucket list is a trip to Rosemary Farm and a stay in their AirBnB.
I have been donating every month for ten years, and have visited Rosemary Farm once. I am always impressed by how well all the equines are treated and grateful to learn of the individual stories of the horses, donkeys, and minis. I have also learned so much about the care of horses and the diseases they get. I always look forward to reading the posts from Rosemary Farm. My favorite rescue and sanctuary.
I've followed RF SANCTUARY for several years and I do a monthly donation. Top notch Sanctuary. They love the horses and donkeys. Transparent postings.
I’ve been following the Rosemary Farm page for years and I fully support the work they are doing. As a former TLAER rescue volunteer I can tell you that the folks at Rosemary Farm are doing th3 absolute best they can for three equines that pass into their care.
I have spent time in their guest house, surrounded by beautiful, free horses - and some long ears - all rescued from desperate situations. I am a monthly donor (not a lot, but it all helps). I am constantly impressed with their total dedication to each and every one of the horses. Excellent medical care - better, I suspect, than most people give their own horses. No expense is spared if there’s a chance to help a horse. The owner (who must never sleep) communicates daily with followers and I don’t remember her taking a vacation in the many years I’ve been a follower. She’s totally dedicated and totally committed and it’s a rare and beautiful thing. I love Rosemary Farm.
I am a faithful follower of Rosemary Farm Facebook page. I have never seen such a dedicated, loving and loyal group of people.
They work tirelessly to save horses from slaughter and give them the life they deserve. Even if a situation looks grim, they will do their very best and go above and beyond to save a horses life. They work hard long hours, but their love, determination and compassion does not falter. Their compassion has even been shown to hurt birds, baby mice who lost their mother and any and every little living soul that needs a helping hand. My dream is to visit Rosemary Farm one day. These loving people deserve the highest recognition for their dedication. They are truly amazing!

A friend introduced me to the work of Rosemary Farm and I began to research them and follow online. Before I donated I checked their reputation and status through various websites. Impressed by the transparency of their posts on line both about the joy and the sorrows of rescue as well as their sterling reputation I began to donate to the cause. I remain impressed by the way in which Rosemary Farm goes about implementing their mission. I hope to visit one day and see for myself. In the meantime I continue to follow them and donate, albeit small amounts given my financial situation.
I first found Rosemary Farm Sanctuary on social media. I loved their mission and donated when I could. A visit to RF was on my bucket list and I finally got my wish via a Mother's Day gift. The sanctuary is everything I imagined and more. The horses are loved and well cared for and each one is treated and loved as an individual . They are more than rescues at the sanctuary, they are treated like family. The highlight of my visit was getting to groom Remy a senior well loved horse. Since my visit I have become a monthly donor because RF is the real deal, Dawn their founder is an amazing advocate for the equines in her care.

I have witnessed first hand the wonderful work that Rosemary Farm does. Each and every equine is treated as an individual where their needs are met on a daily basis. I am honored to support them as a monthly donor and am always willing to share their information because I trust them as a non profit and know with certainty that the equines they care for are always put first.
My sister, Kayle Martino was a big donate her to Rosemary farm. She passed away this morning. After a brief illness. We came up and rented the Airbnb together and it was beautiful. No Wi-Fi no phones just beauty we listen to rackets and played board games we cooked all the lovely dinners, we spent time with the horses last night we went outside and looked at the stars there was a blanket of stars. It was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen as I held my sister‘s hand last night I told her to close arise and remember our evening at Rosemary farm, where we looked up in the sky and saw the blanket of stars twinkling down on us. I told her she was going to be one of those stars soon and to shine down on me and my family I have asked in lure of flowers donation to be made in Kayle Martino‘s name to Rosemary farm run free with the horses, Kayle twinkle high up in the sky. You are out of pain and not suffering my sweet, big sister. I will miss you every minute of every day till we meet again.
Nothing makes you smile more than seeing an update from Rosemary Farm showing how a rescued horse or donkey is progressively getting healthy, receiving the love they lacked a flourishing in a natural horse atmosphere. It’s a perfect back drop for a horse being allowed to once again be a horse.
Rosemary Farm go over and beyond for their horses. They do however, keep it real! They don't try to hide the difficulties that a rescue faces. They are honest regarding the health of the horses, stating that in all of their best efforts, there are times when you need to help some horses cross over. I respect who they are, their strength, and all that do to save a horse let down by others! The facility is kept nicely, they continue to expand in many ways. I donate when I possibly can, and would love to someday spend a day at this facility. It takes exceptional people to run this organization. They deliver through snow, rain, wind, sickness & tragedies. They put these animals before themselves! To all of the caretakers at this facility, I say Thank You, for the lives you have & continue to rescue!
I live in Minnesota and typically donate to local nonprofit organizations. Rosemary Farm Sanctuary is the lone exception to that rule. Rosemary Farm passionately lives their mission, to allow horses to be horses, everyday. Not only do they provide care and feeding to 100 horses, they share the successes and heart wrenching stories on social media, while educating their followers about the realities of horse ownership and abandonment.
I found Rosemary Farm on Facebook. The first rescue story I read involved two colts saved from slaughter. Both were covered, inches upon inches, with ticks and in very poor health. So much so, one was too ill to survive. The second, Princess Yanaha, is thriving at Rosemary Farm.
This non-profit also provides valuable equine education to so many who want to help, but never knew how or why equine rescue is necessary. Their experiences saving wild mustangs has opened the eyes of Americans who now know how the Bureau of Land Management treats these sentient beings.
Rosemary Farm’s Nemo and Ella also come to mind. Nemo was a miniature donkey starving and damaged. Surgery and a prothesis gifted a longer life where he enjoyed friends and freedom. He shared his joy with us and the sorrow of his passing.
Miss Ella! The 9 month Percheron was dumped at auction because of her dropped fetlocks. She continues enjoying life at Rosemary Farm and continues to receive the love and care she needs to be a happy member of the herd. All you need to do is visit the Rosemary Farm Facebook page to see photos of more than 100 equines saved from death happily enjoying the time they have at this beautiful, kind, and caring rescue.
A wonderful nonprofit horse rescue that puts the welfare of horses first and foremost. They ask what the horse wants first. And a beautiful place to visits as well! I’m so glad I live close enough to see it first hand.
I visited Rosemary Farms for a tour. What an amazing experience. We were told the stories of the horses and the staff knew every single name of over 100 horses. The care that is given to all the animals is evident by the interaction in the medical barn. While we were there a horse was in training and the care and patience with all the horses was amazing.
I have visited Rosemary Farm several times after finding them on social media. The founder and director is skilled, compassionate and devoted to equines. She keeps the sanctuary’s followers informed about what’s going on every day and educates people about rescue and equines in general.
I learned about Rosemary Farm from a friend. As a person who has been involved with horses since I was a child, it was so exciting to find a place where these magnificent animals are welcomed, cared for & even better ... cared about! And for those of us who don't have a sanctuary Farm, it is a true blessing to be able to participate in many ways with the amazing, loving, professional, smart, honest, kindest humans anywhere!! Rosemary Farm is a true "sanctuary" in every sense of the word.
I have followed and supported Rosemary Farm Sanctuary for many years. A former work associate began sharing their Facebook posts and I felt moved by the efforts and results of this rescue. The difference they make by letting horses be horses continues to amaze me. I live a long way from NY and the Catskills location but feel compelled to continue my support because I believe in their mission, their heartfelt caring and well written updates primarily through Facebook. I am very picky with where I donate my hard earned money. I am never disappointed by Rosemary Farm.

I was made aware of Rosemary Farm Sanctuary by a business colleague many years ago. While I was never fortunate enough to have my own horse, I have loved horses all my life. Following the “adventures” of the team at Rosemary farm, I fell in love with their compassion and practicalities of letting horses be horses. I have been a monthly donor for a long time even though I am now on a fixed income. They truly make a difference! I continue to be amazed at their tireless efforts. While they can’t possibly save every horse, they do truly take the best possible care of the ones they do take in. Nemo was my hero! A great example of their caring heart! Now I think I am in love with Zephyr! What a cute baby!
I was scrolling through Facebook a few years ago and stumbled upon a shared post that had a picture of a little donkey with 3 legs that was fit for a prothetic leg. This little guys name was Nemo. I started following this Sanctuary for equines (which I love, but know nothing about). They would post and occasionally I would ask a question. Rosemary Farm would answer, always in an educational and caring manner. I love that the rescued ones are safe for life. I love that each horse is listened to for what they want. I love that updates are frequent and we get to see the horses and become vested in their wellbeing- like when little Rudy ran away from another Sanctuary. Definitely top notch!!
Although I do not live close to Rosemary Farm Sanctuary, I have been a patron of this wonderful organization for the better part of a decade, even visiting with my husband and working on the guest house rehabilitation several years ago. The staff is magnificent- executive director Dawn Robyn is an eloquent advocate for her charges; her wonderful stories and explanations illuminate the challenges and rewards of equine rescue. I have complete faith that all of my donations serve only one purpose: the utmost care of the wonderful horses, donkeys, and mules who have resided and continue to live at Rosemary Farm. There may be other equine sanctuaries as beneficial as Rosemary Farm, but none could possibly be any better. Rosemary Farm is the best!

Since 2015 I have been proud to be a supporter of Rosemary Farm. My husband and I were even able to make the 9 hour round trip to volunteer there one weekend. I have always been impressed by the care, compassion, work ethic, and knowledge of the staff, especially the founder Dawn Robyn, who brings the sanctuary alive with her Facebook posts. This magical farm is truly the model of what a nonprofit should be- one whose donors can trust that every ounce of support will be focused on its mission. Without a doubt, Rosemary Farm Sanctuary embodies all that is good about equine rescue.
I've been a monthly donor of Rosemary Farms for several years now. Dawn and her team do an absolutely superb job of rescuing horses in need, providing them with a soft landing and sometimes a gentle end. She isn't focused on adoption numbers but rather the horse as an individual and their needs. She also is a spectacular writer and painter and uses both skills on the rescue's Facebook page to educate the public in an eye catching way. Dawn's peace flows throughout Rosemary Farms and all who follow along.

As a recurring donor for several years I've seen Dawn share the stories of many horses saved and cherished by this rescue. Here a horse can just be a horse without being valued for their skills or what duties they perform. Seniors and youngsters alike are cared for, even if they have multiple medical issues. Dawn has cultivated a family at rosemary farm and I'm proud to be a part of RF Nation ❤️
Rosemary Farm is an incredible farm that helps over a 100 horses a year. I’ve been following them online for years, and have been fortunate to visit their farm on several occasions.
As a donor, I also appreciate their regular updates with transparency and candor regarding their work and challenges they face.
Rosemary Farm is a magical place, built from the ground up with the best interest of horses is mind. Their commitment to their herd is unsurpassed, their skills matching horses and people are expert, and their adoption process has led to many happy human/equine families- including mine! Horses who get permanent sanctuary at Rosemary Farm are truly blessed with lifetime care, love, an extensive equine herd of companions for every stage of life and a stable home until their very last day. Every living being should be so lucky!
I first discovered Rosemary Farm on Facebook about 10 years ago. I admired the work that they did, rescuing horses and other equines who had nowhere else to go and allowing them to “just be horses” in many cases, instead of serving humans again. As a horse-obsessed little girl who grew up and never got to have a horse of her own, I decided to do the next best thing and become a monthly donor so I could contribute to the ongoing care and expenses of the horses and equines who live there. Some day, I hope to visit the farm and meet the horses I’ve been supporting.
The director is very open and honest about her rationale for running the sanctuary the way that she does. When she does seek additional funds for expansion or improvement of the existing facilities, I know that the plans are well-thought-out and not frivolous. I’m very happy with my investment and would suggest it to any other horse lovers and/or animal lovers.
My friends and I spent a memorable weekend at this amazing sanctuary meeting these wonderful creatures who are living the life they were born for and not the life(or death) people thought they should lead. The amount of human care and work involved to allow these senior damaged and/or abandoned horses to survive is jaw dropping. Please donate if you can. ❤️
I am proud to be a supporter of Rosemary Farm, even in a small way. I love that they take in horses in desperate need, many that no one else wants, and gives them a place to live in peace. When I first read about the filly Princess Yanaha, who arrived covered in ticks and very ill, and how they cared for her, I knew I wanted to help however I could. I would love to visit the farm someday. I've always loved horses and reading about the many who live at Rosemary Farm gives me my horse fix.
I became aware of Rosemary Farm and immediately drawn to their compassionate yet pragmatic approach to horse rescue. Having had a horse when I was younger I am grateful for their work and through small donations maybe make amends for whatever harm I allowed through ignorance. Appreciate the tireless work of the volunteers and the writing that makes my day every day!
Visited a few years ago , a most magical place in the stunningly beautiful Catskills!
The people who run this rescue have angel wings saving the most beautiful creatures can’t wait to get back there!
We have always adopted ( or they have adopted us) our fur babies weather cats or dogs, we’ve had both and I have done TNR and continue to care for a colony of cats never horses, always loved them but never in a position to have or care for one then I found Rosemary farm on FB and have learned so much about them, following all and some special ones too loved them and grieve for ones gone. What a wonderful rescue is Rainbow Farms, I’m hoping to visit one day soon.
Monthly donor! Nemo had me at day 1!! And they rescued my favorites Paso Fino's and any breed needing a safe landing ❤️
I visited RFS a few years ago and stayed in the guest house for 2 nights. Dawn gave us a tour of the farm and I fell in love with Iron. We saw him in his stall and then We got to see him again while sitting on the porch watching the bonfire. He came right up looking for a pat. His name suits him as his face is both strong and gentle.
Early the next morning we got to see Dawn greet 2 horses who were rescued from Texas. These horses had traveled a long way. No one really knew what to expect when they came off the trailer. Soon the door opened, and 2 Texas beauties looked out. Dawn went up to them and gently took their lead ropes, looked up to then and said “Welcome to Rosemary Farm Sanctuary “. Both walked with her over to graze a bit. I think they knew they had both landed in heaven.

This past summer I stayed in the guest house at Rosemary Farm for 2 nights. It was a magical experience for me to wake up in the morning and see a herd of horses from my window. To watch the interactions and communication within the herd was something I never thought I would experience. And to think that each one had a hard, sad story through no fault of their own A very special treat was to watch 2 rescue horses come in from Texas. I watched as Dawn walked up to the truck, clipped on a lead rope, looked into those sad anxious eyes and gently said “welcome to Rosemary Farm. These horses are now living happily and being cared for with all their needs met. Thank you Rosemary Farm Sanctuary for all that you do.
I am a neighbor of Rosemary Farm and have been a monthly donor for years. The work that is done here is first rate, and always is determined by what is best for the horse. The sanctuary has several veterinarians on call, 24/7, plus a horse hospital where horses are taken for serious operations and recoveries. Rosemary Farm also employs gifted and seasoned trainers to enhance the horses, if necessary, to help them overcome trauma, PTSD, and other baggage from previous harmful experiences.
It is a spectacular rescue and one that I am proud to be a small part of.

Rosemary Farm Sanctuary is a most excellent place and I am a regular donor to this cause. The director, Dawn Robyn, is meticulous about care of the horses, and protects them for life. The adoption contract is not taken lightly and requires the adopter to return a horse to Rosemary Farms if the "fit" is not what it seemed to be, no matter how long ago the adoption took place. Medical care is routine, and for emergencies, immediate. It is such a fabulous rescue and one where horses can be horses - no extra attributes necessary!
I fell in love with a horse named Lizette who came to the farm untrusting and broken in spirit. After years of care and nurturing sprinkled with generous helpings of love she found peace and lived in a beautiful and safe place.
Rosemary Farm is a haven for horses from sad, tragic and horrible situations. It’s run by volunteers and staff who are angels .
Shangri-la for horses in need. These people are amazing. Lately, they brought in a mare in foal, a very wild horse. She had her baby in care, and they even have a horse whisperer coming in to work with mom and baby. They ho the extra mile. My wish would be able to visit one day.
I am from Canada and follow Rosemary Farm Sanctuary on Facebook. I love the pictures, videos and updates on different horses they care for. More recently a new mom named Twister who came to the sanctuary pregnant , untamed and frightened. It’s amazing how respectful and gentle these human angels have been with her and her now little colt . I love watching the progress they are making . The progress is slow but in my personal opinion is done with the horse’s well-being first and foremost . Beautiful to watch and warms my heart to see such kindness toward these beautiful animals..
There have been so many things that have moved me. The first was Nemo. Then Annie. Miss them both. Presently there is Twister and Zephyr. But the main thing is the passion shown for all the equines.
I love the work you do for the horses that you rescue. I always love to read about the horses. You do a lot to rescue the horses. I have been following the newest arrive born lately and how you are trying to handle both mother and baby, so that they are more used to people. Thanks you for all the hard work you do. I donate every year at the end of the year and hope it helps.
First heard of Rosemary Farms because of Nemo. My sisters and I visited one summer and have been a supporter since then. I donate when I can. They do amazing work
Stumbled across RFS on line a few years back and I was kinda captivated by a photo of one of the BLM Mustangs they had saved. Went up to South Kourtright, NY one Saturday to visit and see that Mustang. I was totally impressed by everything I witnessed that day, the location, the layout & environment provide for the horses, the sincerity & caring by the staff & last but not least, the lady who oversees the whole operation, Dawn. Went back 2 years later & stayed in their guest cottage for 2 days & enjoyed every moment. Bottom line, it's the best. Oh, if you go up to visit, tell River I said hello & I'll be visiting again as soon as possible.
Rosemary Farm cares for the unwanted and most in need equines in their area. Without judgement and their only care if for ensuring the most humane and kind treatment of their charges. Making the hard call when it must be made. Always putting the well being of the equine ahead of all else.
I continue to be impressed by the focus on mission and always, always putting "what is best for the horse" ahead of any other factor in decision making. Proud to donate, volunteer and support as a board member.

I first met Rosemary Farm on Facebook and was immediately captured by the idea of a place "where horses can be horses." As I began to follow, and watched the work being done at the Sanctuary, I realized it was a special place that I wanted to be more involved with.
Rosemary Farm steps in for horses in dire need, horses that had no say in their predicament and need someone to be their champion. The belief that it is never the horses fault, and a core philosophy of doing what is best for each individual horse, drives compassionate and thoughtful decision making in rescue and rehabilitation. The organization has continued to learn and grow, becoming GFAS verified, a voice in the national equine rescue community, and a needed resource in their local area, and I have no doubt they will be making a difference for equines for years to come.
Today I am a Board Member, a donor, a volunteer and a Staydopter(TM) of a beautiful American Saddlebred mare named Glory. If you love horses, you'll love what's happening at Rosemary Farm.
This is from my visit last August 2019.
I just got back from the most magical place on earth. I’ll bet your thinking Disney! You are incorrect! I was at Rosemary Farm in South Kortright New York at the guest house. Which you can book through Airbnb. If this is not heaven, the gate is very nearby! There are horses grazing in a meadow outside your bedroom window. This place has to be experienced to be believed. I’ve been here 3 times. Stayed at the guest house twice. There truly are not enough adjectives to adequately describe the serenity, tranquility, or beauty of this most magical place. I almost when it was time to leave! While I was there, Dawn (the founder) took River and I on a guided tour meeting lots of the horses. The last night we got to groom horses at Ella’s place (one of the barns). I groomed Kevin, a retired NYC carriage horse. He is HUGE. Probably 17 hands for you horse people out there. And I groomed Lamar, a surrendered camp pony. A beautiful black and white spotted horse (not sure of the correct term. Not a pinto) that is blind in one eye. River groomed one of the three new, as yet unnamed horses. One is white and so beautiful she could be a unicorn if she had a horn! She has blue eyes! Very pretty! I also got to meet Nemo, the superstar donkey with the prosthetic leg! He is so inspirational! Please check out their FB page, their website, their fundraising page. And please, by any means possible, go there for a tour of the farm or a stay at the guesthouse! I’ll post more pictures later!
The best, most caring of all the animal rescues I have been exposed to. I love all animals. I try not to get attached to any, BUT My experiences with RFS just tugs at my heart. I have visited and witnessed the care and attention all the rescues receive. It is impossible not to get to know some of the horses up close and personal.
Horses in dire need have a safe, wonderful life that includes food, shelter, friends and a lifelong promise of a home. Rosemary Farm is worthy of your trust and donations. They have mine.
The Best horse rescue. I love how all the stories are shared about each individual. The horses are so cared for there and allowed to be horses, for the rest of their lives! Great Job Rosemary Farm.
This is a sanctuary near and dear to my heart and soul. The work is so meaningful in a society in which horses are not always considered for who they are but what they can do. The growth of this beautiful place has been wonderful to watch and participate in, along with so many incredible supporters.
I found Rosemary Farm Sanctuary years ago on Facebook. I was immediately in love with what I can only describe as the most beautiful way to rescue! To allow a horse to be a horse. Perfect. I have visited and now I am a board member. I am honored to be part of this amazing sanctuary.
I've been supporting Rosemary Farm for many years. The Love and Respect that Rosemary Farm gives to these animals is so Heartwarming. When Dawn writes about the farm and animals you feel like you are there. They are one best charity I have ever come across.
No one who knows me would ever have expected me to be a horse lover. Before Rosemary Farm Sanctuary, I only knew horses from pictures and TV. And I'm 80 years old! But they crept into my heart gradually, as I read about the stories of horses just being horses. Thank you, Dawn and all your wonderful people. I feel like I belong there. I know all the horses. And I feel like they all know me. If I walked into the pastures, they would run to me like they run to Dawn. Thank you, Rosemary Farm Sanctuary.
I follow this sanctuary on Facebook and am a recurring donor on a monthly basis. I also make sure to use Amazon Smile when I make purchases so a percentage goes to their support. The amount I send seems so small that I feel very insignificant, but when added to all the loving supporters out there, we move mountains! This sanctuary deserves all the love and support we can give. The work they do is so selfless and meaningful, and changes lives forever. I know they changed mine!
I follow Rosemary Farms on Facebook and love seeing how the under fed and under cared for horses that come to them thrive under Rosemary Farms love and care. Some days you just want to say “enough” with the news. But if you check out RF you feel good about world again. The owner (should write a book) she describes the horses and the farm on a late summer evening and the joy when a horse with a medical issue recovers, in away that makes you feel you are there with them. You can hear the sounds, smell the farm and sometimes the coffee.
Rosemary Farms is also my designated charity on Amazon Smile.
I am a monthly donor to Rosemary Farm Sanctuary. What an amazing horse rescue! The love and care showered upon these rescued equines in need is beyond compare. From a prosthetic leg for Nemo the donkey to nutrition and love for horses with a body scale of 1, to healthy rescued horses, every single one is treated with the utmost respect, care and unconditional love. I couldn’t be more proud to support such a deserving organization. I only wish I lived close enough to be a volunteer for RFS.
I have been proudly supporting Rosemary Farm Sanctuary for many years and look for their posts every day. The precious beings in their care will be lovingly nurtured for the rest of their lives and I bless Dawn and her staff and volunteers for their devotion
,
I have supported Rosemary Farm for 5 years or more, and over that time they have rescued many horses, providing medical care, training and end-of-life care as all living creatures should have. I have visited, cleaned stalls and filled nibble nets, hauled hay and helped my husband make a hanging rack for the horses’ halters. I have delighted in new rescues, cried when an elder horse “crossed the rainbow bridge,” cheered with adoptions and “stay-adoptions,” and continually marveled at the wisdom and skills brought into this effort to save these animals’ lives. And through it all runs Dawn Robin’s words of love and wisdom in her daily posts. -Judith Lyons, Tallahassee, FL
What do I love best about Rosemary Farm? They truly live by their mission statement and offer sanctuary to horses for life. They let horses get to be horses, and have the best in care not only for their physical health, but also their mental health. I am fortunate enough to have not one, or two, but three of their horses. You are immediately part of the family. My only regret is not finding them sooner!
We have been to Rosemary Farm, and have never seen horses treated better. Being a former horse owner, I know what it costs in time, care, money and heartache. As long as we have the money to continue to support this wonderful charity, we will do so. Once a horse become a Rosemary Farm horse, it is for life, and when your life comes to an end, it is with love and the family around you. If you need a leg, you get it, as the little donkey, Nemo, is on his third prosthesis. These people go to the wall for the almost 100 horses that get to be horses at Rosemary Farm.
I have been a donor to Rosemary Farm for several years now. They are a wonderful sanctuary who make the best use of their resources, providing many ways for the animals to receive the care and help they need. While they can't take every animal that they receive a call about, they offer advice for possible solutions as well as increasing the size of the operation whenever they can. Even though the herd size has increased, the level of care has not diminished. The animals are loved and cared for, allowed to heal and learn to trust again at their own pace. They receive the best of vet care, both emergency and maintenance, the best of feed with special care given for special diets, regular hoof care, outdoor room to roam and be a horse again. Rosemary Farm is the best soft place to land for abused or neglected animals, of all ages.
My daughter told me about Rosemary Farms and took me on a tour. I instantly feel in love with all the horses and the relaxed atmosphere in the barns and all around the farm. Dawn is the best-she walked with us and answered all my questions. I am a frequent donor and hope one day to get back to the farm for a visit.
A number of years ago a friend shared a Rosemary Farm Horse Sanctuary post on Facebook. Since that day, I’ve been following them, I’m a monthly donor and my heart is constantly filled by the stories of selfless service that I witness daily. I’ve visited twice, hope to go many more times, and pray that someday I’m in a position to contribute much more. I’ve cried, laughed and smiled at the commitment and devotion shown to each and every horse that is fortunate enough to land safely at RF. Bless Dawn and her crew for their giving hearts.
A few years ago a FB friend shared a post from Rosemary Farm, I was intrigued and liked their page. I have followed and donated whenever possible and not been disappointed. I have been blessed to have had 6 horses in my life that have all been family and only death parts us temporarily. A lot of people have criticized me for keeping horses that are not rideable anymore, they'll never know the joy of truly being loved by a horse. I was so happy to find a rescue mission that validated my own philosophy. Thank you Rosemary Farm
I have been following and donating ever since they started. They are a great farm and rescue horses and go out of their way to help and heal the horses they rescue a lot of older horses and donkeys they work long hours and any kind of weather seen horses that have came in with their ribs showing some that has been mistreated.Rosewood farm let the horses run free and try to get these animals trust and love again.
I stayed at the Rosemary Farm Guest House this past July with my husband and daughter. A feeling of quiet and peace enveloped me as soon as I stepped out of the car after a long journey from NYC. We helped care for the horses and took a tour so had an inside view of the whole operation. I was impressed with the structures they had designed and built for the needs of the horses. They were spacious, clean and well kept. It warmed my heart to see the horses happily living together in herds the way they were meant to. Dawn is totally dedicated to her mission and somehow finds the money to pay for expensive medical care when warranted. I loved how a few horses are rotated to roam free near her house which is on the farm property. She takes in blind and disabled horses that nobody wants and provides them with a great life. Sorry I haven't mentioned Robert, her husband, who works as hard as she does and is especially attached to their donkey with a prosthetic leg. I really can't say enough good things about the place. I'm just glad there are people like them in the world to save these beautiful, majestic animals. Carol O
The folks at Rosemary Farm do more than take care of many, many horses and other equines (Nemo and Rudy!), they inform their followers of why the proper care of all horses is so important, they shine a spotlight on the true nature of horses and their sentience. I have learned so very much from the founders' writings that I had never considered before. This non-profit is deserving of every accolade there is available.
Rosemary Farm is amazing! They are dedicated to giving each and every horse exactly what they need, whether it’s finding the perfect adoption or letting them live out their days “just being a horse” there at the sanctuary. Their devotion to the well being of horses is truly inspirational!
Rosemary Farms not only came to the rescue of our horse but also of our family at a very sad time in our lives. My brother passed suddenly during a terrible snowstorm and left behind his farm animals and his horse. We had no idea how to deal with this and Rosemary Farm was recommended to us by the state trooper who was helping us. They were wonderful, kind, understanding and an answer to our prayers. They took our horse under their care where he is still today. I cannot thank them enough and gladly donate to their cause whenever possible. I have visited and am so touched by the bond and care their horses receive while still allowing them to be horses and free. Can't say enough good things about Rosemary Farm, their director Dawn Robyn and her dedicated crew of workers and vollunteers.
I have visited the RF and find it very professional the way the horses are kept and treated with love. the concern for all the horses health is immense. The outpouring of love from all the staff is seen and felt as I now read stories of each horse in need. I support meagerly and love hearing from them. RFS is the best
We went and stayed there. The farm is fantastic and the work they do is incredible. I have always loved horses and I am so glad they exist.
I work with horses and it is hard to see how many well- meaning people do a lot of harm to these amazing beings. Rosemary Farm is one of the few rescues dedicated to letting horses live in a natural way - in herds with relationships. I wish I had more to give.
My granddaughters and I are great fans of Rosemary Farms. We had the pleasure of visiting this past summer and spending a night in their guest house. We are impressed with the care given, the natural beauty that surrounds them, and the love and care given to all the horses in their care. Thanks to Dawn and team for their dedication.
They rescue horses that will slaughtered, abused and neglected. The focus is not on adopting but rehabilitating the animal to enjoy life. Seniors are given just as much love as fouls. They work many hours night and day to meet their needs. I have always wanted to own a horse. Life never worked that way. I give a little each month towards the care of Jake.
I love seeing Rosemary Farm horses on my FB page - I have donated a couple of times but havent been able to in the last couple of years - the horses are so beautiful and to see their story of how they came to RF tugs at my heart but I know that Dawn and her staff will make sure they will be taken care of in every way possible - I couldnt bare to watch Greta TIn Tin when she first was rescued but Dawn always makes sure to post pictures and share her story - Greta is the cover girl on the new calendar for next year and she looks wonderful! I also love how the horses gain their horse friends and herd - they can be who they are in their own environment - Rosemary Farm is a true blessing for all of these horses!
I have been in awe of Rosemary Farm since I first discovered them and the mission they carry out every day. Dawn and her team are nothing less than earth angels with their commitment to giving these magical creatures the life they deserve. Although I am involved with greyhound rescue I've always held a special place in my heart for horses. When a friend sent me a monetary donation to give to the charity of my choice to honor my greyhound who had died, I knew it had to be Rosemary Farm. I will always support Rosemary Farm whenever I am able.
I was first introduced to Rosemary Farm via a FaceBook post by my cousin. Being a lover of horses, and never having had to privilege of having one, (though that wish was something I had for a very long time). I found the posts from Rosemary Farm so real, that I felt like I was right there! I am a monthly donor and am so amazed at the work that Rosemary Farm does to save and rehabilitate these beauty animals. Not a penny is wasted! I'm amazed daily at the love and care that goes into the horses. My only regret is that I wish I could give more!! A visit to Rosemary Farm is on my bucket list!!
I have been donating on a monthly schedule to this Farm for years now, through good and bad for myself, because I love their standard in caring for the Horse First- get to know the animal, figure out his quirks, and if not adoptable the horse has a life residence at the FARM!!! I was a Riding Instructor for years, trained Race Horses in the late 70's and 80's, and have Loved the horse since I was born. I treated All my animals different, as needs and conditions vary, and I am delighted with the same way Rosemary Farm horses are treated! A fantastic Sanctuary for an animal very close to my heart.
What a wonderful cause. I have been following Rosemary Farm Sanctuary for a couple of years and I'm highly impressed by the level of love, care, and support they provide to all the animals they save. I have donated several times to this organization and it will continue to be a go-to for me in the future as well.
I am a monthly donor and I wish I was wealthy! I would give lavishly to Rosemary Farm because their heart and soul is invested in each and every horse. Nemo is a donkey but needed a loving home and a new leg! Dawn and Robert said “yes” and Nemo and all the horses are blessed to have this amazing forever home. I visited the sanctuary and you can feel the peace that vibrates from all who live there. Dawn is such a great writer and brings me to tears at least once a week for the beautiful way she describes her horse family and the great care that the horses receive!!! I love the work this sanctuary does and thank God for the beautiful souls that care for them,
I love what they are doing! The first time I saw a post of them on Facebook I immediately liked what I saw. Their commitment and openess of taking care of the horses the right way. I saw to many other rescues, but nothing comes close to what they are doing.
I’m a horse owner myself and I know how much it takes to take of these majestic animals.
I love following and donating to this nonprofit. Reading the stories of the rescued horses and following their progress makes me happy.
I've been following Rosemary Farm for years when there were just a few horses. This Samctuary not only cares for the physical needs of the horses, but the emotional side of them as well. Horses have friends and the freedom to run in herds made up by their own desires. There are herds with horses who are blind or senior. Even Nemo, a burro who wears a prosthetic leg has a friend and a place to call their own. Rosemary Farm doesn't put a monetary value on it's residents, they are alive and deserve to be cared for and loved.
I became a monthly donor to support Princess Yanaha and have never looked back. A simply awesome responsible charity letting horses be horses. Incredible work and dedication
Rosemary Farm lives and breathes to save, protect and nurture horses. They have devoted their lives to this effort and perform it unfailingly, every single day, with love, respect and compassion. I am so proud and grateful for this wonderful rescue that changes so so many lives and not all of them are equine***
I found RFS through Facebook several years ago and became a monthly donor. I have seen the selflessness, love, and devotion Dawn and her staff give to every single rescue .
When my girlfriend told me that we shouldn't have more than 3 horses because of limited land space I said fine...I'll just find me a rescue/sanctuary and help them instead. I've followed and donated to RS for 2 years now and love every minute of it.
I learned of Rosemary Farm through a friend. After following them on Facebook and watching the amazing gift of life they give to the horses in need, I couldn’t help but get involved both financially and emotionally. Dawn and her horses will forever own a piece of my heart.
I found Rosemary farms and started following them on facebook. The more I read and learned about what they so the more I wanted to help. They make it easy for me to donate and feel connected even here in Michigan.
I found Rosemary farms on FB and started reading more about them. They are warm and loving to all of their horses. I started donating because of their transparency and wonderful updates on the horses in their care. I live in south Texas and still choose to donate to a program across the country.
I have donated to this horse rescue. The amazing stories shared pull the visitor in and make them feel as if they were right there on the porch. The pictures provided prove the dedication the entire staff and volunteers have to ensuring a safe and loving home for rescued horses.
I’ve stayed at the guesthouse twice now. Each time more magical than the last. The horses roaming freely in Stardust Meadows is, quite simply, breathtaking. Dawn and her staff are wonderful to watch as they interact with these magnificent creatures. Even though they’ve had rough starts, they’ve had a nice soft landing at Rosemary Farm. I can’t wait for my next visit.
I have always had or been involved with horses, i have worked for breeders and others. When i came upon Rosemary Farm as a volunteer, I had never been witness to such care, compassion and the respect they share with horses. I have since become a board member and also am an adopter of my heart horse Harry from Rosemary Farm . I have been witness to neglected horses in all ways become family at RF and the transformation from the care and love they receive is incredible.
I first started following Rosemary Farm Sanctuary when the they rescued two little horses from a kill pen. One of the little ones passed away from her neglect and the other, the Princess Yanaha, was so ill. Dawn and Robert fought for this little girl to survive and she is now absolutely gorgeous. I took the Saturday tour with my daughter and granddaughter and totally fell in love with the people and the place so much so that the following summer I became a volunteer.
As such I have been privy to some of the most amazing horses. I was greeted in the morning by the "house horse" who would follow me to the back door where she would get her breakfast. She was a love.
Each year since then I have witnessed the love and care that goes into every rescued horse that comes into the this wonderful place.
It is truly a place where "horses get to be horses." They get love and give love back because they know they are safe.
It is a wonderful place run by and staffed by beautiful people who care.
I love it.

Thank you for sharing and for being an integral part of what we do at Rosemary Farm.
Best of the best for equine rescue/sanctuary! I compare every non-profit rescue that I deal with to Rosemary Farm! Great transparency, good use of funds, good fundraising programs, and I feel confident that the money is used as fundraised for. Their communication is awesome too.
It is the first 'place' I go when I turn on my computer!!!! I can't wait to see what is going on, and go back throughout the day to keep up with everything :)
Dawn is an incredible writer, and conveys the wonder and beauty of the work she does with the horses. You can almost visualize everything in your mind, and THEN she adds WONDERFUL pictures to help us join her in the joy and sadness that comes with rescuing and CARING for horses!
I so appreciate knowing that Dawn and her crew is out there helping horses in all stages of their life and needs. "Leaving no stone unturned" to care for each horse to be sure they are as comfortable and happy as they can, with hopefully a long life. She takes the time to learn, and care for each individual horse, as just that..! Individuals
I first began to fall in love with Rosemary Farm online, on Facebook, like many people do. The stories of horses saved and healed and loved are utterly compelling.
I had two horses I brought back East with me when I returned from living in the West Coast, one also from a rescue, and decided that my little herd needed to grow. I have adopted two horses from Rosemary Farm - a gorgeous young mare, Ivy, who they had saved from the kill buyers for a bid of $10, and Robin, a sweet old gentleman who needed a soft landing after his loving owner could no longer care for him.
Rosemary Farm is, I believe, on the cusp of becoming one of the most important horse rescues in the United States. The commitment to all aspects of the horses and their care, the innovative work being done exploring how to manage horses in herd so they can have the closest thing to a natural existence, the unflagging curiosity and interest in learning, the compassion and passion for both horses and their all-too-imperfect human companions is extraordinary. So much so that I am proud to serve on the Board of Directors of the organization, hoping to support Rosemary Farm a bit on its path to re-inventing how horses and humans can live together. I am genuinely grateful to be a part of its work.
I love Rosemary Farm and what they do. They let horses be horses. They know each and every horse, what they like, what they need and what makes each happy. Dawn is a good writer and describes for us each day what is happening in this happy place for horses. God Bless Her for what she does. Every day I go to Dawn's Facebook posts to see what is happening. My stomach is clenched tonight, worrying about Baby Ella with her disability that will shorten her life, and Silvie who got stuck in the mud last night and just barely was rescued. Dawn heard Silvie's voice and went to her on a dead run. Dawn knew what to do and did everything fast enough to save Silvie's life. Can you imagine knowing the voice of each of 40+ horses?

Thank you so much for your kind words. Can you help us improve by explaining why the sanctuary only got 3 stars out of 5? We aim to be a 5-star non-profit!
I saw Jed for the first time on a friends Facebook page. I had to see more about this gentle giant and the person(s) who rescued him. It truly was love at first sight. I immediately joined Rosemary Farm's Facebook page and have been hooked ever since. This group of rescuers display the true meaning of compassion, love and integrity. I've been there twice to photograph the horses and meet them face to face. I couldn't ask for a better up-close experience of "Where horses get to be horses." I'm truly impressed and humbled by their efforts. I'm proud to say I am now a monthly supporter as well. Please enjoy this shot of Oliver from August 2012, he's the old man of the group and full of personality.

Rosemary Farm 10/30/2016
Thank you so much for remembering Jed. He lives on through those thoughts.
I first started following RF on Facebook when they saved two young fillies from kill pens and trailered them home a cross the US. Princess Yanaha and her sister. How I cried throughout reading that. I vowed to become a monthly donor when my hubby found employment which happened this year! I read every update and wait for photos every day. Every month I receive a personal thank you for my small contribution. They are amazing!

Rosemary Farm 10/30/2016
Those two fillies touched a lot of hearts, thank you for helping us with your caring donation, it means the world to us.
I have followed and donated to Rosemary Farm for over a year. I have visited then as well. 100% of the donations go directly where they are needed. The horses come first. The work that Rosemary Farm does is vital to saving these beautiful creatures. Wonderful farm, exceptional care and as their mission statement says, "where horses get to be horses".

Rosemary Farm 10/27/2016
Thank you for your lovely comments. Based on this, did you mean to leave a one star review? That's the worst of the possible ratings!

Thank you for the kind words; did you mean to leave a one-star review? That's the worst!
I am a longtime supporter of Rosemary Farm, and they are incredible. Watching the transformations of the horses they save is inspiring. Visiting the sanctuary for the first time this past summer, I was awed by the setting in which the horses get to live. The farm is idyllic, and all the horses are obviously content in their new life. They always act with the horse's best interests in mind, and they do the best they can to give every single one the chance at a pain-free and happy life. They really do listen to the horses.

Rosemary Farm 10/30/2016
So glad you were finally able to visit and share in the beauty you have helped to create with your donations.
This is a wonderful organization that rescues and rehabilitates horses. Some horses are rehabilitated, fostered and then adopted out to forever homes. Some horses can not be adopted and they have a forever home at RSF safe and secure being a horse. I am a regular donor to this organization and highly recommend it as a charity. I follow them daily on Facebook. Their caring rehabilitation is an inspiration!

Rosemary Farm 10/30/2016
Thank you so much, we are blushing!
This is an amazing organization dedicated to rescuing horses in need, be they abused, neglected or in danger of becoming neglected. Horses have a forever home at Rosemary Farm if need be and receive the love and care they need and deserve. In addition to good food, medical care and medical support for those horses who need it, horses at Rosemary Farm Sanctuary get to be.... horses.....and live as horses were meant to live with each other and also interact with people. I can't say enough about how much thoughtful care is given to each individual horse. I am able to make a small monthly donation and have been thrilled to become part of the Rosemary Farm Sanctuary "family" in this way.

Rosemary Farm 10/30/2016
What a beautiful comment, and thank you for being an integral part of what we do at Rosemary Farm.
These are wonderful people doing wonderful things for horses. They love and care for the horses they rescue, putting their heart and soul into it.

Rosemary Farm 10/30/2016
Thank you for your beautiful words.
Been a supporter of Rosemary Farm for several years. Wonderful mission statement and they follow thru. Funds go to the care and feeding of the horses.
Wonderful caring and kind caregivers doing a desperately needed mission that will not have an end. Wish all nonprofits were this dedicated.

Rosemary Farm 10/30/2016
Long time donors hold a special place in our hearts here, thank you for helping to make this possible.
Went with family to a recent "Ponypalooza" here. So inspiring to see the many rescued horses surrounded by love and care. Horses that have been injured, blinded, or just neglected are thriving here on this farm in the beautiful mountains. My daughter took horseback riding lessons as a young girl and I learned that owning even one horse is incredibly expensive. Rosemary Farm Sanctuary works miracles every day!

Rosemary Farm 10/30/2016
Thank you for joining our first Ponypalooza and hope you make it back for the next one!
This is the most caring nonprofit rescue I've ever seen they truly truly care about their animals and taking care of them getting them what they need to feel healthy and letting them be horses they try their hardest to do everything in their power to save a horse to adopt a horse out to a forever home to give them the best that that animal can have for the remainder of its life I have yet to see any other rescue as dedicated as these people are I would nominate them not just number 10 but 10 + + + + +

Rosemary Farm 10/30/2016
Thank you so much and thank you for helping to make this work possible.
This non profit is the best I have seen. I follow them & they restore my faith in humanity for all the horses that they have. They have wisdom & compassion for the horses. They all LOVE Dawn so much.

Rosemary Farm 10/30/2016
And we love those who help make this possible, thank you. :)
I have been a long time supporter of Dawn and Rosemary Farm Sanctuary. Dawn's insight and wisdom belong to someone far beyond her years. She does rescue right and is always about the horses and their best interests. She looks for every possible solution to problem horses and has done amazing work with them. Rosemary Farm rocks!

Rosemary Farm 10/30/2016
Thank you for being our first commenter here at Great Non-profits and for sharing such beautiful words.
