Volunteering at RMHC of the Coastal Empire has taught me so much about helping others. I love to go there and see the smiling faces of the employees and of the other volunteers. I also really enjoy knowing that I am helping people in need.
There are three main ways I have found to volunteer at RMHC. First of all, one can sign up for a specific shift at the House and perform many planned housekeeping chores as well as spontaneous activities. Another popular form of volunteering at RMHC is their Adopt-a-Meal program, for which people may cook dinner for the families staying at the house in the double kitchen. A third way to volunteer for RMHC is to help out at their many fundraisers, such as Battle of the Bakers and the Red Shoes Run and Pop Tab Pandemonium.
I love RMHC!!!

The Ronald McDonald House in Savannah, GA is a community of sharing and caring, joy, tears, and smiles, blessings to the clients as well as the volunteers. I answered a request from the Christian Service committee at White Bluff Presbyterian Church. I worked each Tues for 25 years to provide support for families there by providing support when a child died or if parents needed to make a critical decision for a child's well-being. Most are happy memories as we tried to provide the comforts of home while clients were there. I grew in my faith and received many blessings as I worked to be a blessing to those staying there.

In 2008, our son was born at Candler Hospital in Savannah, Georgia. Despite a healthy pregnancy, Dylan suffered meconium aspiration along with 2 other bacterial infections during delivery. The doctors weren’t sure he’d survive his first night. Within hours of birth, he was transferred to Memorial Hospital’s Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery. I had to stay at Candler, while my husband split his time between the two hospitals. On Thanksgiving Day, two days after his birth, Dylan had shown enough improvement so that mom and dad could hold their baby boy for the first time. As the days went on, our son proved to be a strong healthy baby that just happened to be born very sick.

During the two weeks Dylan spent in the hospital, our family discovered how lucky we were to live in Savannah where the level of care Dylan required was just down the street. Many families have to drive long distances to visit their children in the NICN, which often means sleeping in the waiting room or their car, or covering the cost of a hotel room. This is where the Ronald McDonald House® comes in. Established in 1987, the Savannah Ronald McDonald House has provided a “Home away from home” for more than 5,000 families. The House has 10 bedrooms with private baths, a communal living room and kitchen, dining and laundry areas. Each night volunteers from the community provide a home-cooked meal for the families to share.

After this experience and learning what an essential benefit the RMHCE offers to the families of sick children, we celebrate Dylan's birthday each year by holding a small local fundraiser for the charity.

I became involved with the RMHC of the Coastal Empire when my husband and I moved to Pooler, Ga three years ago. I wanted to volunteer for a charity that truly gave back to the people it served. I have been so happy working with the caring and personable staff at the house and with the other volunteers at the Family Room at St. Joseph's/Candler hospital. My family has participated in the Chef's and Baker's Challenges and have been so proud to help support the tremendous work this charity does. Savannah is blessed to have this support service for their community and surrounding communities. In addition, I have found that people from out of state seek out the Ronald McDonald Family Room when they visit friends and family at Candler hospital!

My friends and I participated in the Battle of the Bakers for the Ronald McDonald House to have fun and to raise money for a wonderful cause. Then I found out one of my college buddies was just staying there because her baby was born at 26 weeks and with a lifelong condition. I am greatful I got to be apart of what RMHC of the Coastal Empire does for familes who really need their help. More people should try to do in one lifetime what the Ronald McDonald House in Savannah does every day!

I became involved with RMHC about two years ago when I became a part of the team from Pooler, Georgia's Sam's Club that participated in the 1st Chef of the House Challenge. RMHC has become a major part of my life and I can imagine not volunteering there for years to come. We have had over 20 associates from our Club volunteer there over the past year and everyone has not but good things to say about the experience.

I've volunteered at Ronald McDonald House here in Savannah, for over 4 years. Evey Monday my friend and I bake cookies for the families that are staying at the house. It gives me great pleasure to bring a little bit of home to those who are away from their own home. They are so appreciative of someone making the house smell like home.
All of the staff are so very compasionate, they ease the difficult time for families of ill children.

Serving as a volunteer for approximately 10 years I have observed first hand the great service the RMH performs. Of course it provide a home away from home for families with critically ill children but goes beyond that. The staff and volunteers help the families deal with their emotional challenges and physical needs. I know of several instances where volunteers have assisted needy families financially. I am impressed with the outstanding staff who are always there for the families and the caring volunteers who assist them.

The RMHC in Savannah is an amazing group of people whose caring individuals impact everyone who comes in contact with them. The constant support and care for the families whose children are hospitalized is a bright spot during a terrible time. They opportunities for the public to learn and be involved amazes me. No matter the age or stage in life there is always a way to become involved and part of the RMHC family. My children have helped prepare meals for the families through our church and taken pause to count their blessings. We have collected pop tabs for several years, and will even pick up discarded ones to add to our collection houses. We also attend several fund raisers every year.

I could go on and on. I cannot say enough how honored I feel to be involved with such an amazing organization and how thankful I am that we have RMHC in our community.

It is amazing the work of the Ronald House of the Coastal Empire! The caring way they manage assisting the families during such a time of need is unbelievable! The staff and volunteers make certain that almost no need is unmet to a family so they can focus on the healing of their child and spend as much time as possible with their child. Of course, when they return to RMHC for a break, the staff and volunteers make sure the family gets support and rest or whatever is needed.
What is special is that no family is turned away if they cannot afford the nominal fee charged for staying at the house however long they need to be there. That is why this grant and our donors make our house strong! The volunteers are constantly providing meals and making sure the house is a home away from home for these families!

Ronald McDonald House of Savannah is a great asset to our community, and we are grateful to have them here. I had the opportunity to tour the house and meet the staff, and it truly is a wonderful operation. We (our Sales Team at The Westin) elected the Ronald McDonald House to receive an award that was given to our sales team, and every one of us voted unanimously to support this great cause.

When I was first approached to help support RMHC of Savannah, I was not sure what to expect. Mindy Nash and the entire crew of RMHC here in Savannah go above and beyond to make the families staying there feel at ease. The "Chef of the House" challenge is an event we love to participate in and one we look forward to doing again. The RMHC poker run brings a great mix of people and raises awareness of this worthy charity. Mrs. Nash and her team believe in what they are doing and put there whole heart into it! It is hard to find that kind of commitment anymore. God forbid that I ever need to stay in a RMH, but if I were, I would pray that I would be taken care of like the guests in Savannah are!

My involvement with The Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
From the moment you walk in the house you have an immediate feeling that God is with you. The love and smiles that the dedicated staff and volunteers provide is something that I know every family remembers forever. When I started volunteering in the house, Miss Kennette was the only full time employee and ran the house as if it were her own home.
She extended her arms and heart to ever family that walked through the door. A time went by the house was blessed to have Nikole Layton join as Executive Director and her energy and true dedication for the charity has made the house bigger and better than anyone could have hoped for. Our developmental director Mindy is a brain child and has taken her passion for the house and started fundraisers and events in the house that has gained media exposure to the house like never before. Lastly we have Carol, our volunteer coordinator that has truly been a blessing. Our board is led by Ms. Lisa Dean and she has managed to build a board of strong people in our community that love and believe in everything RMHS stands for. I am proud to be involved with RMHC and proud to know the amazing women that help the families of the LowCountry during unthinkably difficult times.

How could anyone not want to help a child or a family in need? This place is amazing and what I love is the sharing with the meals and giving of unselfish time to help a sick child....help a family with broken hearts to mend....and the comfort of fellowship and love.

It is cheerful logos I love too! I have posted them on my FB and even have gotten my students involved in the sharing and caring:) Our donation may have been a small amount ,but it was given with so much love!!

Congrat's on the Extreme Makeover and Baby Zoe! My students loved it and have letters to send.

Thank you for all that you do RMHC!!! God Bless you everyday and more!

I have volunteered with my church group to cook some meals for this Ronald McDonald House. I know they serve the needs of families all over the Southeast Region, and parts of SC and FL. Our family has personally been blessed by a RMH in Atlanta because our daughter has had several surgeries at Scottish Rite. I know the RMHC have truly been a blessing to us and to many families throughout the years.

I'm a physician in Savannah and see the wonderful work done at RMHC firsthand. They are a wonderful resource for outlying families who otherwise would either have to spend hundreds of dollars for a motel, or simply be unable to visit their sick children in the hospital. The House is clean and cheerful and has a fabulous support staff. I've heard nothing but praise from the families that have stayed here. RMHC is a treasure.

For the past three years I've been fortunate enough to serve as a volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House. In fact, 'fortunate' is an excellent word to describe everything the House encompasses. The families who stay with us are always expressing how fortunate they feel to have the comforts of home so close to their sick child. The volunteers who serve the House feel fortunate to be associated with such a kind-hearted organization. And the employees, I've heard many times, state that they feel fortunate to be in a position to offer the love and support the families residing at the House so desperately need. We are truly 'the house that love built.'

I have been involved with The Ronald McDonald house for many years. In college, it was our philanthropy of choice and now that I am a parent, I am getting my children involved. My daughter enjoys taking pop tops to the house, touring the facility, and finding out all of the good that they do for the community. I feel that the employees and volunteers at the RMH go above and beyond when it comes to making a family feel at home and providing for their physical and emotional needs. It is wonderful to know that there is a place for all if and when an occasion arises and one should need such resources.

The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is invaluable to the children of our school district who live in poverty in our County. If it weren't for their help, many children would go without dental care. Without dental help, the children may be unable to concentrate on their school work. The $5000 would be a great assistance to them to help continue their mission in our district.

As a past member of the RMHC board, 2006-2009, I am truly delighted and impressed to see the progress RMHC is making in contributing to the community in a number of ways, in expanding its awareness and seeking out new ways to generate funds. Carrying the Ronald McDonald name is a double-edged sword. On the one side it generates immediate recognition. On the other side, too many people believe the organization is funded either entirely or to a large degree by McDonalds. And while McDonalds and its employees do make significant contributions, the House could not exist and operate without the support of outside donors. RMHC is worthy and deserving as much financial support as is possible.
