RMHC is family! They will always hold a special place in mine and my family's heart! They have always gone over the top to help us, comfort us, and always lend an ear for difficult times. More people really need to know how great this place is as well as the staff! Thank you RMCH from the bottom of our hearts!!!
I worked as an employee with Ronald McDonald for 3 years, and just recently left. There are few places you will find such amazing people of quality. Every employee and volunteer strives to do their best to put the families first, and think of new innovative ways to help and serve. I absolutely loved my time there and will stay involved through volunteering. There is no organization I love more.
I have volunteered at Ronald McDonald House for a few months. I enjoy playing games with kids while their parents have some down time. The staff is so dedicated to making sure families feel at home. The house is truly a magical place.
As a donor I love the confidence of knowing that my donation is going straight to where it is needed. Having family close is essential to kids recovery and the RMDH takes the stress off so many parents who need a place to stay during an already difficult time. The people I’ve met from the house are so passionate about what they do. It’s a great organization!
We stayed at RMHC in 2015 when my son was born with multiple, severe heart defects. The staff was so helpful and kind, and it was a true blessing to be able to stay there and get a good night's sleep while still being able to spend every day with my son. I had three older boys as well, and being able to get out of the hospital to spend time with them was exactly what this mama needed. My son ended up inpatient at Emmanuel for six months before finally going home for the first time. We will never forget RMHC and everything you have done for us, and what a difference you made during a very hard time. Thank you!!
My sister and her husband have been staying at the Ronald McDonald House that serves Dornbechers/OHSU whole my niece is in the NICU. It’s been a month now that they’ve been staying there. They’ve been able to be with their daughter every single day since she was born because of your services. Without you, they would be an hour away and while they would still be up there daily to see their daughter, being able to jump on the tram first thing in the morning or drive up to the hospital from your location has been a HUGE blessing.
Thank you so much for what you do. Thank you for providing a place close to my niece for my sister and brother in law to be so they don’t have to leave their baby. Thank you for your kindness and support. Not only is it a blessing to them but it is a blessing to our entire family knowing that they are comfortable and close to each other.
My daughter has a rare chronic illness that necessitates treatments at Randall's every 4 to 8 weeks. It is such a relief to arrive at the East Side Ronald McDonald house after driving 270 miles for her appointments. The staff is so welcoming and there are always activities to take her mind off her tough days. Her time spent in hospitals has been made less traumatic by her time spent having fun at the house. As for us as parents, it is such a relief to not worry about having a place to stay near the hospital. We were even there during the "snowpocalypse" of 2016 for surgery. It is such a blessing for our family, I can't imagine trying to navigate with out it.
Ronald McDonald house of Oregon and Southwest Washington was AMAZING to our family. We lived there for 59 days while our daughter was in the NICU. She was born at just 27 weeks and wrighed in a 2.8lbs. During the time we were in the hospital, we still had to care for our 2 year old daughter. Ronald McDonald made her and our visit so pleasant and our 2 year old asks to go back all the time. We had passes to ride the tram to
The hospital, tickets to the zoo, tickets to the children’s museum and many more opportunities to get out and explore Portland. These were crucial to our sanity as it was an opportunity to get fresh air outside of the hospital. We are forever grateful for the people to donate and make Ronald McDonald possible.
My daughter was born and rushed to ohsu and were not from portland so we had no where to stay and we were lucky enough to get the opportunity to stay at ronald mcdonald house and get taken care of by the wonderful people there we were there for about a month and so much of what we needed was provided. Cant even beigin to tell you how much if a relief it was we were there about a month and spent Thanksgiving there someone volunteered to come in and make turkey dinner and it was great. I just dropped of a box of donations last weekend while i was in town. I will be forever grateful for robald mcdonald houses and always support them.
The year was 1992. I had taken early retirement and decided to use my available time to do things that were really important. Being selective, I had looked at various types of volunteer positions, wanting to find "just the right fit" - a place where I could make a difference!
I learned about the Ronald McDonald House from my cousin and his wife who live in Eastern Oregon. They had stayed at RMHW while their daughter was undergoing treatment at Emanuel Hospital. They raved about their stay, the accommodations, the staff and the volunteers! Their experience made it easy for me to make my choice!
Our goal at Ronald McDonald House is to fill an immediate need, by providing a "home away from home" to the family, while their child receives medical care in Portland Hospitals. I find it is rewarding to be a part of this story, offering a helping hand to the family during their stay! However, the very best part is sharing in their excitement, while celebrating their success, when they are finally able to return home!
I've been a "Tuesday Morning Volunteer" for 26 years. While there, I simply "do whatever needs to be done" to make life a little easier for our guests! Proudly I acknowledge what a privilege it is to be a part of this unique organization!

The wonderful support that RMCD gives to families is reflected by the comments of the families and their demeanor of relief of having somewhere comfortable to try to rest. I feel welcomed by staff, everyone has been very positive. An incredible place!
Ronald McDonald House is exemplary. The staff is first and foremost concerned with families. I am always impressed with how dedicated the staff is to making the families feel welcome and accomodating changes or concerns at the highest level.
There is always a respectful tone everyday. There is never a doubt about the mission at RMH.
As a volunteer, I am aways greeted with a big smile and without fail I am thanked for my contribution. It is a pleasure and honor to help.
As a volunteer at RMHC of 4 years I have quietly observed the staff's interaction with families...they show so much compassion and are so welcoming...frequently greeting return guests with hugs as if they were family. It is an amazing organization.
As a weekly volunteer I see the families being treated with respect and kindness. Volunteers are also treated with respect and appreciation. I love volunteering at Ronald McDonald House!
Amazing efforts serving families who are in need and away from home. You can see the high level of care and compassion through meals being provided, activities, and clean living environment.
My husband and I have been working at Ronald McDonald for close to 2 years now. We could not be happier with our experiences and the organization it is. We didn't know a lot about it before being involved but it has exceeded our expectations in it's value to the community. This nonprofit aids in providing a comfortable home away from home while their loved one is receiving the needed essential care at Randal Children's Hospital. They provide housing, food, transportation, a Christmas "store" for shopping free to them while staying at Ronald McDonald and much more.
My husband drives residents to various places in the Portland area for shopping or a reprieve from the hospital experience going to the Rose Garden, Zoo, Play areas, etc.
I bake items in their fully functioning supplied kitchen for residents to enjoy while away from home. We have participated in the Christmas Store and have helped with one of their fundraisers the Golf Classic at Pumpkin Ridge. Throughout my life I have volunteered at several organizations and although all are important Ronald McDonald is absolutely wonderful in the services it provides.
