Thank you for taking in our precious Reba and making it possible for her journey to us in the USA. Found in a field outside of Galati, you took her in, cared for her, and prepared all the necessities for her journey. Your tireless efforts and work to save these precious animals in Romania is nothing short of amazing and made this blessing possible. Reba is the perfect addition to our family. Bless you and your team!

I have worked with ROLDA-founder Dana Costin as a volunteer, translating texts for over 15 years now, I am deeply impressed by the work she and her organisation does to help animals in need - both in Romania and now also in war-torn Ukraina.

The number of animals they have helpet and saved from a life of suffering and death is almost beyond counting, and to see Danas vision for a better future for both animals and humas take shape year by year, is an inspiration to us all. In a world where there is so much violence, hatred and suffering, we need more people like Dana and her crew, and we need more organizations like ROLDA.

I am honored to play a small part in this endeavor, and encourage all animal lovers to support ROLDAs work!

I had the great honor to spend a few days in Rolda's shelter and witnessed the fine work Dana and her team do for the dogs.

It gave me new perspectives and a strong motivation to help more dogs. I am eternally grateful that I was allowed to come and hope to come back soon.

Our amazing collaboration with ROLDA started in 2021 when we were reaching out for support in our efforts to alleviate the suffering of street cats and dogs in Romania. Since then, ROLDA's partnership and support has been instrumental in saving the lives of hundreds of animals that wouldn't have stood a chance otherwise. So many cats and dogs have been rescued from the horrors of the streets, from terrible situations, when they were hanging on a thread between life and death. Treated, cared for, healed, now they are living their best lives in amazing homes, having left the awful past behind them. And this goes on and on.. relentlessly.

ROLDA has been doing great work with the most important instruments available towards alleviating the suffering of stray animals: neutering campaigns and education. We have together organized spay events where hundreds of animals were spayed/neutered and educational campaigns in schools teaching children to be empathetic and aware of their pets and of animals on the street.

During this crisis with the war in Ukraine, ROLDA has made sure to offer aid by providing supplies and other forms of support for people and animals in Ukraine and also for refugees and their pets fleeing the war and moving to and through Romania.

ROLDA is one of the most comitted to the cause nonprofit organizations I have ever known and the extent of their efforts is simply incredible and comes with proportionally great results.

This organization is truly impressive and so worthy to get all the support needed to continue their selfless and valuable work!

I was first in contact with ROLDA fifteen years ago, through another animal rescue organisation, and was struck by their enormous "fighting spirit" despite obstacles along the road! Whatever happens, their proteges can rest assured they will never be left behind. And that says it all, doesn't it..?

ROLDA is such a beautiful charity doing so much good work in Romania with stray and injured dogs.
We adopted Mia from ROLDA over 9 years ago and she is the most beautiful girl we could have ever wished for. She has such a sweet personality and acts as mother to our other two unruly dogs. We call her the fun police because she is always breaking up the boys fun with a well timed "Stop it!" in doggy language.
She is the most empathetic dog I have ever met. She picks up on our emotions and seems to do all the right things without us even asking her.
She seems so grateful to be in a loving home. We can't thank ROLDA enough and still keep in touch with them and support them when we can.

We adopted Tom from Rolda in March 2021. He has been a PERFECT fit for us and is the sweetest dog we have ever had. While travelling through the Balkans previously, I met a lot of street dogs and fell in love with many due to their independent spirit. Yet, I pitied their often unlivable circumstance. ROLDA provided us with a way to legally adopt one of these guys. The process was legitimate and transparent. Would do again 100%.

After adopting my first ROLDA dog 3 years ago and having the most fantastic experience with the adoption process and speaking with fantastic and committed staff, I decided that my dog Leti deserved a friend...
I adopted Nudge (previously Laika) October 2020 and once again was just in awe of the help and support offered throughout the process. The ROLDA team are absolutely fantastic, they work tirelessly to find these dogs suitable homes and share in your excitement when the process moves along. Nudge has settled in perfectly, her and Leti are inseparable and my bond with both my dogs is something so special, better than I ever could have wished for. I will always support ROLDA in whatever way I can, and can't imagine ever adopting pets from anywhere else.

After being let down time and time again by the big name animal charities I was beyond happy to stumble across ROLDA. Immediately had my heart set on adopting Leti, the communication with Gemma throughout made the entire process so easy and exciting rather than feeling like a test you're about to fail. Any time I had a question it was answered with extensive backing and documents etc. Leti is now safely with me and I couldn't be happier; she's such a beautiful, soft natured pup. What an amazing charity with such tireless employees who make the process as easy as possible for the adopting person. Would 1000% recommend ROLDA to anyone looking to adopt. Adopting from Rolda:
Dana was very easy to work with and knows her dogs very well.
She was honest and is one of the most caring people for pets and their new families that I have ever met.
It may be a bit expensive, but it is worth it for the care and love she instills in her rescues. My experience was a very good one and I would adopt from ROLDA and Dana again, no reservation.

Adopting Dream (now Jaxton):
He was a bit energetic when my other dogs first met him, but he is a very loving, happy boy who seems to really enjoy being around his new furry siblings and his new family. Always happy, Dream is always ready to play!
Smart boy, learns easily and loves his treats! :)) He is a loved and cherished part of my family.

I have been supporting ROLDA since 7 years. I heard about ROLDA when I read a post on Facebook, requesting some help for the trip of the first dogs to Switzerland. I decided to help this honest asdociation. Then I adopted Arno. And I became member of Rolda.ch. Then I joined the committee, and finally became the president of Rolda.ch. I am actually very proud to be the president of this association.
I have adopted Ruby in 2016.
And, one week ago, visiting the shelters in Smardan, I saw Piciu, who had been severely wounded. His front left leg had to be amputated. I needed only 5 minutes to decide that I could find some place at home to welcome Piciu!

The first time I offered to translate for ROLDA, it was on impulse. I saw a request for help, and offered to translate a little. But after only a couple of translations, I discovered an organization that was not only thankful for its help, but also super-clever to SHOW you that they are! And that made the difference for me! Few others make me feel as kind and helpful as ROLDA does. Few others are equally good at thanking you for your help, or to show that they appreciate you! Therefore, Today I am active in both translating texts, managing the Norwegian facebook page, holding auctions, as well as selling homemade products in income for ROLDA!

It’s been nearly ten years since I found Honey through Rolda. Honey came by flight after quarantine and the necessary vaccines. She has been a delight from the first day, a healthy, positive, friendly, loving, beautiful and careful dog, an important part of the family. At about 12 years age, she is still going strong, going on long walks, having fun with friends and even jogging with us - without any health issues whatsoever. We love her so much and don’t dare thinking of a life without her.

Zinga was found in the streets of Galati in early 2016. Her rescuers found out she was blind and named her White Angel. Dana started to search for a home for the angel and I was tagged in Rolda facebook by a friend. I just knew that Zinga belonged with me. I already had a blind dog and opened my home and heart to one more. Zinga came to me in november 2016 and I loved her from the day I met her. She is my soulmate, my comfort, my everything. We travel on the mountain together. We are training together and at night she sleeps next to my bed in her own bed. I lost my other blind dog at the age of 13,5 in august 2018. I would never live over the grief without Zinga. She needed me in 2016 and I was one to save her life. In august 2019 she saved me and I hope we have many more years together.
Thank you Rolda

The ROLDA sanctuaries are run by the devoted Dana Costin together with her co-workers. Today there are more than six hundred dogs, and the donkey Ben, for them to care for.
A visit at the large sanctuary is an emotional experience : Glad to see all these dogs saved from their former life, victims of hunger, violence and danger of accidents and diseases - sad to see how much more care they need, and how many of them crave intensively for contact with humans.
Rolda's goal is to adopt as many of these dogs as possible to homes in Europe, where they can get love and care and a life worthy a living soul. A lot of work is also done to cure dogs who suffer from injuries and diseases. To save lives is Rolda's aim, but also to take the responsibility to put an end to a life that consists of suffering and pain.
Fundraising is not easy. Although there are many dog lovers around Europe who contribute , the need is still urgent. Costs for veterinary, vaccinations, maintenance, food for the dogs and material of all kinds is in constant need. Rolda also engage in feeding stray dogs and campaigns for sterilization of dogs in the neighborhood .
Being a volunteer is for me, personally, rewarding: I can see that my money does go straight to what they are meant for, and that our work give many animals a home and a better life.

All the 700 dogs are healthy, in good shape. They all receive medical assistance, regular checks. All dogs are sociable. The social programs and rehoming are helping the community to solve the existent strays problem. The sterilization campaign is preventing new puppies to born to suffer. In Belgium I was lucky to work as inspector volunteer for the Flemish Animal Welfare organisation. I am doing what I think to be right for our local animals. Once I got contact with Dana from ROlda. She badly needed support and network to survive the critical situation of the Romanian dogs. Firstly I was curious and a bit excited to visit the shelter of Galati but once on the spot my joy changed deeply in sadness. In fact I had left my West European confort zone to visualize another world. Dog dying on the streets, puppies crossing the few highways of the country. Not enough time to describe what I saw.
ROlda did an amazing job on the East coast of Romania. They gave a second chance to more than 600 souls. They are not only watching on dogs but they respect them what you won't find often in other shelters, simply check the social media. ROlda built a clinic but needs material, surgery tools etc... NO definitely ROlda does not look for the Hall of Fame but ROlda is only looking to what you can do to show your love for these dogs. So if you never experienced the love and the gratitude that a Romanian dog unconditionally will offer you just take action right now.

What can I say about ROLDA? It's an awesome non profit organization that really is dedicated to save all the dogs in the surrounding of Galati and some.

I work together with Dana (founder of ROLDA) since last year (I'm based in Germany and help by promoting the organization and the dogs) and I can only say one thing: To save the romanian strays is her life task and she is doing one hell of a job. And it totally got to me. Dana is pure inspiration and to see that she and her team cares so much for these tiny creatues warms my heart.

I will definitely continue to work for ROLDA as a volunteer and to support the task because it's the right thing to do. And I know that ROLDA can make the world a better place...even if it's a tough task.

I have visited the shelter many times and I am always greeted by happy dogs and a nice staff. The shelter have done improvements every single visit I make and it's clear that they want to make the best environment for the dogs there until they get adopted. Sandra keim from sweden

I'm glad and feel honoured to support ROLDA from Germany by having founded the German division last year. The best thing I can imagine is to tell interested people about ROLDAs great and necessary work and finding loving homes for at least some fortunate dogs.

Rolda does an outstanding work to stop the increase of the stray dogs population in the area of Galati , to take care of it and protect it . With respect to animals and humans . At both Rolda's shelters old , young , injured or handicapped dogs as well as puppies are treated with love by the employees . The are kept under very good conditions . Roda is an exemplary charity . I adopted one of ROLDAs dogs and I'm very glad that the association does exist. They are the only hope for the poor dogs living there in the Romanian streets. My dog Muffin was injured very bad when he was found by ROLDA employees. They gave him the best medical care and cared for him the best way in general. When it came to adoption they provided me the best service to get my pup in Germany. I'm so thankful for ROLDAs work that I support their work from Germany now. I hope we can keep on moving so much during the next years and save as much poor souls as possible from their miserable lifes.
