It is with great sadness that I acknowledge the closure of the Boulder College of Massage Therapy by DPOS (Division of Private Occupational Schools, Department of Education in Colorado.) Since graduating from the program in 1985 I have continued my relationship with the school, as a mentor to students, advisory committee member, instructor in community classes, faculty member, and as a nationally approved continuing education provider. For the better part of two decades I taught and supervised students form BCMT who offered Comfort Touch to patients and family of HospiceCare (now TRU Community Care).

The school began as an outgrowth of the Rocky Mountain Healing Arts Institute, under the direction of Honora Wolfe. As a non-profit entity, the school has operated under a succession of leadership over the years, overseen by a board of directors. From the initial guiding vision and commitment to quality massage and bodywork education, the school entered the world of accreditation and regulation, allowing students to participate in federal student loan programs. While its demise can certainly be blamed on the vagaries of economic challenges, the terms of probation stated by the national accrediting body (ACCSC) point to a number of other concerns.

The Boulder college of Massage Therapy has long been regarded as one of if not the Best in Class in Massage Therapy education. I am an employer locally in Colorado and I have to admit I find more high quality candidates coming out of this school than any other that we higher from.
