RMCR is the best! I've adopted 5 Cocker Spaniels from them over the past 13 years. All of the dogs are given medical attention, quality food, and lots of love in a foster home while they await the chance to meet their fur-ever family. All of the Cockers that I've adopted from RMCR have been wonderful family members, sweet as can be, and very appreciative of the second chance at life that RMCR has given them!
I adopted my first spaniel "Brownie" from Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue over ten years ago. A few years later I adopted a second spaniel "Kalbi" from them. I also volunteered for a number of years before leaving Colorado. It is an excellent organization, which I would highly recommend to anyone interested in adopting a pet.
Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue brought my alley to me from Louisiana. So many wonderful volunteers. If it wasn’t for them, all he would not have had the wonderful 13 years of his life. We only had him for eight years but with the support and love from Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue we both are very blessed. Their compassion and relentless hard work is never ending. Thank you Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue for bringing such beautiful doggies to our lives. ❤️
We adopted a pair of cocker spaniels here. We fostered first which was great. This organization is totally committed to these dogs and does fantastic work.
We learned about the great work of Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue, then checked out their website for more information about fostering and adopting. We were fortunate to adopt a bonded pair of two-year-old Cocker sisters, Reign and Romie. They have blessed our home and our lives ever since. We are proud to support RMCR!
Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue is the best!! We have fostered several pups from here and the coordinators have been exceptional with communication and helping these sweet babies find forever homes. All of our fosters were able to find extraordinary care and homes because of them! Our family is forever grateful for this rescue, I can’t thank you guys enough for what you do!
Love this group! We adopted one cocker thus far and fostered numerous. They do what they are supposed to do to be a reputable and successful rescue organization. Keep up the good work!
I have adopted 6 Cocker Spaniels from Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue since 2009. Each one was microchipped, healthy, up-to-date on all shots and vet stuff, and just wonderful dogs. They have always been easy to deal with and even transported the dogs to me. They do a great job.
RMCR is a top-notch rescue, rehab, and rehome charity. They take the time to fully vet dogs and potential adopters, ensuring a good fit and following up post-adoption to ensure everything is settling as expected. My husband and I have adopted all our dogs from RMCR since 2009 and would highly recommend working with this dedicated team of volunteers. I so appreciate their full disclosure of everything known about the dogs so good decisions and placements can be made.
They are a great group of volunteers! Always looking out for the dog by getting them into a foster home, vetting, and then to the appropriate adoption home. Highly recommend this rescue.
I Foster for Rocky Mountain Cocker rescue. They are an amazing organization who saves countless puppies lives. They are very quick to help with medical attention for incoming animals.
I have volunteered with this group before. They are organized & knowledgeable in what they do. They are there to truly help the dogs that need rescue. Especially the ones that are difficult cases, have medical problems, & may be long time fosters due to those circumstances. That is what a real rescue does, it is what they do!
RMCR is dedicated to improving the health and quality of life of each dog they rescue. Over the last decade I have volunteered at Pet Expos, adoption events and helped spread the word about this organization in a variety of ways.
RMCR rescues precious dogs who need basic care, as well as those who need specialized medical care. Veterinarian expenses are always a concern but that care is paramount to improving the quality of life for each dog. It is easy to understand how for example, pain management contributes to a happy, loving companion who can fill your heart with unforgettable love.
A fun way to promote this organization is to participate in the Colorado Springs St. Patrick’s Day Parade. As we walked along and interacted with the public it was obvious the adorable dogs brought smiles to many faces. One of my own Cocker Spaniels wagged his tail almost constantly as he looked at the adoring crowd and eagerly accepted treats.
Another memorable event I participated in was a holiday parade in Colorado Springs. We decorated our Ford pickup truck with so many lights and even a dog costume! The weather was chilly but it was an excellent way to be involved in a well attended community event.

Over the past 6 years, we have adopted several senior Cocker Spaniels from RMCR.
Without fail, their interactions with us have been organized, efficient, compassionate and with the welfare of the dog always top of mind.
We have supported them with donations as well. They are the best!
We adopted our Elliot from RMCR in 2017. They were so thorough with vetting us and our home and making sure we were the right fit. They made the entire process very easy and they were able to make it work with our busy schedules. This happy healthy by has brought so much joy to our lives. We hope to foster and adopt with RMCR in the future.
The best rescue group ever! We have adopted 3 cockers... and fostered another. Wonderful people who truly care about the dogs.
We have adopted three cockers from the rescue. After our first, Wrigley, I was so impressed with the way they handled everything w such thoroughness in vetting adopters, love and compassion that I started volunteering. It is by far the best of the best!! We lost our second, Addie, last summer and have welcomed our new heartbeat, Joey, two months ago. I can not say enough great things about RMCR!!! Thank you for saving these sweet souls!!!
This is an amazing rescue that provides appropriate veterinary care to all the pups and matches them with the right homes. ❤️
I have worked with the volunteers of RMCR in various events for several years and they are a dedicated, caring, professional group of women and men. They work tirelessly rescuing, fostering and finding these sweet dogs a great home and a good fit. It takes many hours during the day to get these rescues the veterinary care they need and it is extremely expensive as well. They also must deal with various behavior issues, illnesses, surgical needs and more, also transporting them all over the Denver metro area and other Colorado cities.
A good rescue is certified by PACFA (Pet Animal Care & Facilities Act) who inspects and licenses groups and facilities dedicated to protecting the health and well being of these animals and RMCR is. A great group to work with and adopt from.
They are a wonderful rescue! And as with most rescues they are always in need of fosters for their rescued cocker spaniels and others. It’s definitely rewarding.
We adopted our Shadow in December 2017. Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue is the best and we are lucky they had Shadow so he is spoiled ND deserves the best.
Great experience and we donate every year.

Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue paired me with an adorable angel within a month of me applying. The supplies and vet care they started us off with helped my puppy recover from his life at the puppy mill. They were even successful in closing the puppy mill he came from, which is amazing! The staff and volunteers are caring and loving people and the work they do saved my puppy’s life and made my life so much brighter.
I found the RMCR after we moved to Colorado Springs 7 yrs ago and we were looking to adopt a dog. The RMCR was wonderful in helping my husband and I find a rescue that was perfect for us! They took a personal interest in matching us with a dog that suited our lifestyle and then the adoption process was also handled very professionally by the foster. I would recommend them highly!
We are so grateful for the work Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue did in finding, rehabilitating, and connecting us with our dog, Sunny. The entire team there was very helpful and communicative, and you could tell they love the dogs they help and the families they connect them with. We’re so grateful for their work and heart!
I started volunteering for RMCR after we adopted our first dog from them in 2021. Transporting and fostering for RMCR has shown me how dedicated their team is to both the dogs and the people involved in the adoption process. I've had snow storms delaying transportation meaning I couldn't check in with the organizers until late at night, and have always been able to get a response and support. Very detail-oriented on the management end, they make sure everyone is in good hands at the end of the day.
A+++ we have had 3 dogs from RMCR Minnie, Mitzi and Mixie. We have been blessed will all. Minnie is now 15. Mitzi was a senior when we brought her home and gave her the best final 1.5yr of her life. Mixie is our new puppy . Full of energy and just happy to be out of the puppy mill, thanks to MIchelle Cooper! Nothing better then a wiggle butt for us!
I have been a foster and adopter with Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue. It is a wonderful group and the people are very dedicated.
I adopted Waffle from RMCR this summer. She was 9 weeks when she came to live with us. We love her so much! I’m so thankful to the wonderful, dedicated staff at this rescue for making it possible for this beautiful pup to be a part of our lives. She brings joy every day.
We have adopted two dogs from RMCR. They are easy to work with, communicate quickly and efficiently, and have high and fair standards for adoption. Each time they called our vet and character references. That's awesome! They care about finding good homes for their rescue dogs. We're grateful for both our girls, adopted 2 years apart.
We adopted Daisy Mae last year from RMCR and have been smitten with her since the first day. The fostering and adoption were simple and straightforward. The volunteers at RMCR are kind people and want your fostering and adoption experience to be the best. From day one, the volunteers work with you to make this a great experience with the end result a forever home for the dog. Thank you RMCR!!!!
We have adopted 2 cockers from Rocky Mt Cocker Rescue (Dottie and Mercedes) and have been very impressed with the thorough care the dogs have received before they are available for adoption. RMCR, also, does a great interview and home visit to ensure the dogs are placed in the appropriate situation. When we adopt another dog, it will definitely be through RMCR.
Our experience with RMCR has been overall phenomenal! My boyfriend and I started the application process at the end of March to become fosters and by the middle of April adopted our puppy Watson! They had such a fast response time and assisted in finding our perfect match. All the lovely ladies that help rescue and find homes for these pups are amazing! We recommend RMCR to everyone we meet. Nothing is better than a non profit with cute dogs at an affordable price!
We contacted Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue soon after our previous Cocker girl crossed the Rainbow Bridge last year. In January we had the opportunity to become fosters to a Mama Cocker rescued by RMCR from a Puppy Mill - plus her four newborn puppies. Throughout this experience, RMCR was with us every step of the way. Not only did we adopt Mama, but also her daughter. Our daughter adopted one of the boys. One of our friends adopted the third boy. The fourth boy was adopted by another family. Each adoptee was supported by RMCR. The staff has hearts of gold.
Such a great organization! We have adopted with them in the past and they really care about their dogs. I would highly recommend them!
RMCR is a great organization that really cares about the animals. They have a lot of volunteer opportunities, as well! I’ve volunteered and adopted one of my dogs from them!
16 years ago, we adopted our dog from Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue.
They were wonderful!
They made sure we had everything we needed to insure a successful match with our family.
I would recommend RMCR every time!
I told them I didn't want to foster a dog, I wanted to adopt. But they insisted. And I'm glad they did. This little guy needed somewhere to land asap and they thought he might be a good match, based on my adoption application. Boy, were they right. Albie (formerly Ollie) is an amazing dog who arrived at my home in October 2022. We were missing my dog Charlie who passed away at 17, and from the minute Albie arrived, he filled that gap in our family with his wonderful personality! This organization is the real deal. They make every effort to ensure a great fit and their foster (with first right to adopt) way of thinking does just that. They check in consistently, keep in touch and get so excited when there are new updates or photos! This rescue is well run and staffed with truly committed volunteers. I feel so lucky to have found Albie and them!
I adopted from RMCR in 2013 and shortly after started fostering. RMCR is a great organization. They are easy to work with. There is a wealth of knowledge within the organization and there is always someone available to help fosters and adopters.
My first foster, Murphy was a foster failure. He was 7 years old when he came into the rescue. He's still with me today

I started volunteering for the RMCR in 2013 shortly after adopting a Cocker Spaniel from them. My first foster, Murphy ended up becoming my second adoption from them. I am still fostering today. The most rewarding part of being a volunteer is the fostering. Every dog that comes in is unique. We have plenty of expertise that is available to help us with the care we give the foster dogs.
We have strong and dedicated leadership. The board members are all such wonderful people whom I enjoy working with. Their love and compassion to the breed is unparalleled.
I only get to choose one role in the drop down, but I am also a regular donor and a client served.
Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue makes a big impact despite being a small organization. Every volunteer I have had the pleasure of interacting with has been responsive, kind, patient, and obviously dedicated to the mission of placing cockers and small dogs in safe, loving homes.
Such a great organization! We had to make the difficult decision to surrender our dog. They made the process so much easier and even took the time to give updates with her new foster! Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue will always have a special place in my families heart!
I have been a foster for the Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue since the beginning of 2020 but had to delay getting my first foster due to my Charlie was diagnosed with cancer and only given 3 months to live. It took a few month to come to peace after he passed and my first foster Toby landed in my lap June 2020. Since then I have foster Calloway ( who I adopted), Ella and Bentley and now Lily(who looks like she will have her forever home soon). The rescue has always been supportive and they do the best for the dogs in the fosters homes. I do the best I can for the dogs in my home and will do so until I am unable.Remember adopt, don't shop.
We found Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue after our sweet Cocker Max died. From the meet-and-greet to the home inspection and adoption process, the volunteers were amazing. The foster family even allowed us to visit at their home and brought the dogs to our house (as we had another dog at home). We only planned to adopt one dog but we took another one whose adoption was stopped through no fault of his. These two (Buddy and Percy) became friends at the fosters’ home. RMCR is amazing! If I ever got another Cocker, I would check with them first! Top-notch nonprofit that really cares for these dogs!
We adopted our little Lucy from RMCR when she was 5 months old. She has been the joy of our family. They vetted us to make sure we were a good match since she was let go because the family took on too much. WE were the lucky ones! She just had her 7th birthday .
I first got associated with Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue in 2019. I had moved from Florida back to my home state Colorado. I'm retired and have been around Cocker Spaniels since I was six months old. I love this breed and was hoping RMCR could help me find the best campanion for me. When I started filling out the applapplication I knew immediately these people were serious about finding the best home for their rescues. It didn't take long to find Charlie. He was an eight year old buff and was prefect for me. Unfortunately two and a half years later he was diagnosed with cancer. I did everything I could do to save him but he only lived four months. I was devastated and getting depressed. So two months later I got Boomer. He's was only seven months old and terrified of EVERYTHING! He's so smart and is adjusting to his new life so well. Boomer is a red Cockalier. We're still working on commands and he's now playing with the other dogs in the house. RMCR has been amazing to work with. They always are there to offer help or just support. Please help support a great nonprofit organization and help find homes for these amazing animals.
This was Charlie and my new loving Boomer.
We have had a wonderful experience adopting our Sidney boy, a field spaniel, from Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue nearly a year ago!!! He is such an awesome dog--so loving and happy all the time. From the start, Sidney loved being hugged, cuddling with us, sitting on our laps, and leaning hard against us! We always wanted a dog who loved to be with us like Sidney does.
He's also great with strangers. For his first trip several weeks after he joined our family, we went to a park where there was a small car show, and Sidney immediately went to one of the car owners and wanted to be petted. Sidney's tail was wagging so hard against the man's leg that the car owner said, "He has a serious RPM tail!" It was so true that this term stuck! Sidney's “RPM tail” and whole back end hardly ever stop wagging when he's awake. I call him Sidney Wiggly. He brings such great joy and comfort to our lives!
We are extremely grateful to Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue (RMCR) for taking such great care of Sidney so we could later adopt this awesome boy! When RMCR found Sidney, he had heartworms, was underweight, and had been a stray; but that didn't deter RMCR from taking him in. They had a foster mother who nursed Sidney back to complete health as RMCR provided all the proper veterinary care Sidney needed to thrive. We are very thankful to God, RMCR, and the donors, who fully funded Sidney's heartworm treatment for six months, as well as his neuter surgery and all his other vet care, so he was totally healthy and ready to join his future family!
As Sidney grew healthier, his foster mom trained him to be even further ready for his forever home. She taught him to sit and wait on command, including before he eats, which is when he gets the most excited! Before he eats, he runs like crazy to his food bowl and looks like a cartoon character. It’s so funny! Then when we tell him to sit and wait for a few seconds, he uses such self-control to obey before we release him to eat. His foster mom also taught Sidney not to jump on people and to go outside. As a result, Sidney was fully house trained and well-adjusted when we adopted him! We couldn’t believe how well behaved he is. His RMCR foster mom was also completely honest with us, which is equally important, and said that Sidney still needed to learn "leash manners." He was so happy to go for walks that he became a bit wild whenever he was leashed. The foster mom offered advice about how to train him on the leash and gave us some names of trusted trainers when we asked. Before very long, Sidney improved well enough to walk fairly comfortably.
When we adopted Sidney, we paid a nominal fee—not even close to what his vet care cost--and signed the RMCR contract, which says if we ever want or need to give Sidney away, RMCR is ready to take him back. That was comforting especially if for some reason we weren't a good fit for him. RMCR also gave us Sidney's medical records, his next heartworm chew, and a schedule for his followup vet visits for his heartworm checks. The foster mom also gave us his leash, harness, as well as some of the food and treats he was used to eating. Sidney also came with a bag of all his favorite toys and his special "blankie," which is very important to him, since he uses it to soothe himself when he gets excited or anxious. He’s very adept at using his “blankie” when needed.
After the adoption, RMCR regularly followed up on us quite a few times to see how we were all doing. They were also available to answer questions and offer advice when asked. We are so impressed with Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue that we have decided to adopt all our future dogs from them. This incredible organization forever touched our hearts by so generously preparing sweet Sidney to become the newest beloved member of our family. We never imagined we would find such a wonderful dog to share our life’s adventures with! He is truly a gift from God!
The people at Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue are some of the most caring, lovely and hard-working people I have ever met! They work constantly to find homes for dogs who have little hope of being adopted, and manage to find loving, wonderful forever homes for them. We adopted Tucker last summer because he had some issues that we had dealt with before. He was a biter, with serious and long-term infections in his ears, and a really bad haircut! Suzette gave us so much support in getting him the care that he needed, which Tucker made very difficult. But no one gave up on him, not the organization, their vets, or us. He was biting because he was in so much pain from his ears, and once we got the pain managed he started to reveal what an amazingly funny and loving and playful guy he is. He makes us laugh many times every day, and then snuggles in with us at night. We are all living our best lives now.
I have been volunteering with this organization for over 5 years. My experience has been excellent, and have enjoyed working with many dedicated people with the same vision – to save and rehome as many Cocker Spaniels and small dogs as possible. A noble cause!!
We have worked with RMCR for almost two years to build the software that fuels their rescue. having worked with 40 other rescues, I can state unequivocally RMCR an extremely organized and well-run rescues out there! Watching them in action, it is clear the volunteers at RMCR care deeply about the Cocker Spaniels and Cocker Friends. The dogs are fully vetted and provided substantial time to recover from any past issues prior to adoption. the adopters are fully vetted as well which produces more successful adoptions. If you are looking to adopt, foster or otherwise volunteer with a fantastic organization in the Rockies or beyond, I highly suggest you contact them - they are the real deal!
They are a wonderful loving caring group of people and a solid rescue that does so much for Cocker and the people that love them. I have gotten two of my dogs from them 1/3 did pass away already but I have no doubt in their capabilities and they are in my will to take my dogs should anything happen to me. I would give them a 5-star rating any day.

I have been a foster for a bit now, and they are the best group of people with whom to serve. They care for all animals fully and find ways to provide support for volunteers. They communicate effectively in their weekly newsletter to all, and offer frequent individual support with personal phone calls, text, and emails to ensure fosters have the knowledge and resources required to provide the best care. There can be unique and rare challenges for fosters with neglected and abused little souls. Somehow the members always find funds and expertise to relieve the suffering and anxiety to a large amount of animals efficiently and with compassion. It's an honor to be a part of RMCR!
At first I thought I would help by being a foster. Well, I failed. Coco and Swirl came to me in 2009, I fell in love. They were a bonded pair that loved each other, and the sweetest dogs ever. They passed two weeks apart, 7 years later, and took a part of my heart.
Adopting those two, was one of the best things I have done. For them and myself.
Thanks to Rocky Mt. Cocoker Rescue.
