It is a fulfilling opportunity to volunteer at Rock House Kids in Rockford, IL. The young people have three hours to participate in a safe environment where activities are Christ focused. Youngsters receive an evening meal, time for praise and worship, and learn about Jesus. Love is always poured into the youngsters lives through positive communication and support. Wholesome field trips, camping trips at no cost.Winter coats, hats, boots gloves are given regularly.
It is a blessing for all involved.

I have been volunteering for Rockhouse Kids for approx two years. I work with elementary aged students. I began at Rockhouse because I could see the love the staff and other volunteers have for the children. Each day staff and volunteers work very hard to meet both the physical and emotional needs of at-risk students. So many of these children just need some extra attention and love in order to thrive. The work can be challenging, but it is so worth it when you see a smile on a little person's face and you know that they are happy you once again came to spend time with them. Rockhouse Kids does not let any monetary or material donation go to waste. The staff and board use the donations wisely as they continue to serve the children in challenging times.
If you have a heart for children and Jesus; RHK just may be a good fit for you!

I have volunteered with RHK for over six months now, and I am always so impressed by its heart. RHK truly puts the kids first and ensures that they have everything they need. All of the staff go above and beyond and truly have a heart for God that the kids have a chance to see and learn about every day that they're here.

I love the work that RHK does. You can see the difference that they make through the smile and laughter from the kids. The activities are extremely created. RHK gives all students to have the opportunity to do things they have not done before! And greatest thing of all is everyone learns about JESUS and you start to see their lives transformed.

I have been a volunteer at RHK for about 6 years. I started off working with 5th-6th graders and have since transitioned to working with 2nd-3rd graders. Having the privilege to be a part of this organization is something I am extremely grateful for. RHK does AMAZING things for our community, and provides so many useful resources to the children. From volunteer guidance, to hot meals, to toiletries, blankets, new shoes, etc. Mrs. Dee does everything in her power to make sure the children not only feel loved and heard, but also that they have all the resources they need to be successful. Seeing how happy the kids are while they attend RHK brings a smile to my face every time I'm there. Its a privilege to be a part of something so great, and Its heart warming being able to witness the children's excitement when they see us every week. RHK is hands down the best non-profit.

I've been privileged to serve RHK for 10 years. The first 6 months I dreaded because the kids were so difficult, but I pushed through. Eventually I learned how to engage with the kids and they began accepting me. Now I have some kids refer to me as 'dad' which is so honoring since many of them do not have a dad in their life. One guy in particular lost his father to a bad drug deal the year before. Me and another mentor took this boy and his cousin to a father- son camp for a short week. It was a blessing to them as well as to us. That was some 5 years ago. The young man still comes to Rock House Kids where he knows there are people who love him, teach into him, and encourage him. He is a leader and may one day be an adult volunteer.

Since moving back to Rockford, I felt the need to get involved in the Rockford community with an organization who worked with kids. RHK caught my eye as it helped our inner-city kids - the kids who arguably need the most help. The faith-based mission of RHK aimed towards meeting the kids where they are at in life and providing the resources (physical, emotional, spiritual) is truly inspiring and everyone - from staff, volunteers, board members - are all onboard to make a positive impact on our kids lives.

Their selfless act supports many young minds through afterschool programs, spirituality and education. I highly recommend supporting Rock House Kids for their amazing work and for supporting the Rockford neighborhood.

Hello,
I found out about Rock House Kids through our church.
I was curious so I called them and requested a tour.
During that tour I discovered many things that truly opened my eyes.
Their facility is located in a rather rough part of town, but I soon learned that is where the greatest need is. I'm sad to say that the more I learned the more shocked I became.
We all "know" that there is poverty, homelessness and neglected children in our community but to see it up close and personal was a moving experience.
I decided to get involved by volunteering and offering some services that my company could provide.
As time went by, I was asked to sit on the Board of Directors and did so proudly for several years.
This is a wonderful organization and I cannot say enough about how deeply the Executive Director and her staff care about these children.
They are deeply committed to providing a safe environment with food, comfort, and teaching.
I could go on endlessly with the tragic stories I have witnessed and the incredible and sensitive way these issues are handled.
Rock House Kids is a GEM in our community and and we are surely Blessed to have them here.

Our group of ladies have donated for several years. During Covid I began helping in the office. It has been my pleasure to support those dedicated leaders as they give their all for their "kids". I have watched as they have spent hours upon hours to provide what "their kids" need, spiritually, physically, emotionally or whatever. It is an organization built on service.

I believe that RHK has a great ministry to underprivileged children. They bring the hope of Jesus into some pretty hopeless situations. I appreciate that when I order items online and have them delivered to RHK, I sometimes get an acknowledgment e-mail. It is nice to know that your gifts arrive and are appreciated.

My son struggles with autism and mental health issues. He started attending RHK last year. He loves going and learning about God. The values they pass on to the kids makes a difference at home and school. I love how they care for the kids physical needs by feeding them and providing essentials like school supplies, socks and snacks for the week. But they also provide for the kids spiritual needs as well.

RHK is the only organization in our area that I will always feel compelled to support no matter what!
I connected with them about a year ago or so and I had heard about them but I had no idea about the time, commitment and love they had toward the kids in our community. After a tour of their facilities I remember driving home weeping and praying over their organization. Touring the RHK facilities completely touched my heart and I knew that I would always try to support in any way possible. The absolute care and love they demonstrate is unbelievable. They not only show kids Christs love but they also meet the needs of these children by providing food, a safe space and other necessities that they need.
RHK is my absolute favorite organization to partner with! I know that they are making a difference and partnering with them is the best way to grow this mission.

I learned about Rock House Kids through my job at the Rockford Rescue Mission, and signed up to volunteer right away. The opportunity to help and support children before they become the adults whose lives need to be put back together at the Mission is so precious. I feel honored and privileged to be a part of the dynamic, engaging programs Rock House Kids uses to provide a strong foundation of faith and love to these beautiful children, many of whom struggle to find loving acceptance elsewhere.

I have known about RHK for many, many years. My church has done collections and drives for them for a long time.
When I was a Girl Scout leader, we were looking for local nonprofits for a service project, and since RHK works directly with children, it made sense to partner "my kids" with "their kids." Many of the families struggle to provide basic life essentials. My troop collected blankets to help with warmth in the winter months.
Then, about seven years ago, I saw RHK looking for a bookkeeper. I felt called to apply and have been here ever since. Not only do I support this ministry from the volunteer viewpoint but also from the staff viewpoint. We do everything we can to support our kids and teens, from collecting basic life essentials to field trips, special speakers, and much more.
The most important aspect of our ministry is getting Jesus to these kids. To show them there is another way. So many of these inner-city kids are exposed to gang violence, drugs, prostitution, and human trafficking at an early age. We try to give them hope through Jesus Christ. RHK volunteers and staff step in to give them a safe, secure place to go to.

In an ever changing world of uncertainty, RHK provides a firm and familiar foundation through the teachings of Jesus Christ to children that are looking for for stability, love and a safe place of community.

It all starts at home, but often times that component is not there. RHK fills the void and encourages the steps to grow and flourish in spite of their beginnings and/or current situation.

I thought Rock House Kids was an after school program. When I took some toy donations to the facility, I was asked if I had time for a tour. I did have time, and I was blown away by the facilities and the few staff members I met that day! Then I visited on an elementary age night and was impressed by the enthusiasm, love and excitement of the other volunteers and staff :) And the kids !! They just wormed their way into my heart !! Volunteering there is the best part of my day! I am 74 and get energized and blessed by those dear children every night :) Especially when they might be having a difficult day or situation.

I have heard much about the woman who started this place and the people that volunteer there and what they do for children. It is in a part of town that isn't the best...for thepoor children that get abused in unimaginable ways...beaten...exposure to drugs...prostitution....aren't fed....no safe place to sleep...and the list goes on and on. They try to give a safe haven to these children, food,a warm place to go,and countless other things to reach out to these very unfortunate children. They have no funding(or ext to it) from what I understand and I only hope the community catches on and helps this place thrive and grow for all the children that need this place and support.
