Nonprofit Overview
Causes: Mental Health, Substance Abuse Dependency, Prevention & Treatment
Mission: Road Recovery is dedicated to helping young people battle addiction and other adversities by harnessing the influence of entertainment industry professionals who have confronted similar crises and now wish to share their experience, knowledge, and resources. With support from the mental health field, ROAD RECOVERY provides hands-on mentorship training, educational/performance workshops, peer-support networking, and “all access” to real-life opportunities by collaborating with young people to create and present live-concert events. ROAD RECOVERY empowers young people of all backgrounds to face their struggles and helps them develop comprehensive life skills, guided by professionals and supported by a community of like-minded peers.
Results: Growing even after a tough 2010. Marketing in place, and continued growth and expansion in the works.
Target demographics: 13-28 young men and young women who have faced drug and alcohol addiction and other adversities. Based in New York City. We have programs throughtout the northeast and are expanding.
Programs: Road recovery provided roadtrax program services to graham windham services in 2014. Road recovery partnered with residential program by bringing our roadtrax program "on the road" to the institution (as described below). Program service accomplishments: roadtrax is a program on the road, traveling to each institution we partner with weekly. Each program is tailored to meet the needs and goals set by the institution (graham windham services). Roadtrax staff travels to the institution weekly (on a seasonal basis) for creative workshops programs. Our action-driven roadtrax program empowers young people to face their struggles and helps them to develop comprehensive life skills through the process of creating, planning and presenting live concert events. The roadtrax staff is comprised of entertainment industry professionals who have confronted similar crises and now wish to share their experience, knowledge and resources. Through the performing arts, the roadtrax program utilizes a unique method of bringing people together in a positive manor through the creative process. recoverytrax is road recovery's in-house program that is a unique and powerful solution at the most critical stage when young people are faced with challenges of building a sober network while encountering the triggers of daily life (which can often feel like a rollercoaster ride). Recoverytrax helps young people navigate the real world while establishing an ongoing partnership that collaborates with each participant's clinical treatment team. Guided by entertainment industry professionals and supported by a community of like-minded peers, recoverytrax empowers young people in recovery to face their struggles and helps them develop comprehensive life skills by creating, planning and presenting live concert events.
