Mission: Riverworks aligns and mobilizes community resources to deliver powerful solutions which meet the emotional, physical, relational and spiritual needs of people connected to the rockford/greenfield area. We did this work through the programs of the food shelf, thrift store, and community building events and programs.
Programs: Food shelf opened in march of 2010 at 8230 cedar street, rockford, mn. In 2016 the shelf distributed 155,383 pounds of food to 1,341 families with 4,837 people served one or more times. The food shelf has two part-time staff.
thrift store - the riverworks thrift store opened in january 2012 at the rockford mall at 8900 walnut drive. The store provides a place for area residents to buy low cost items. The store sells clothing, furniture, kitchen and house wares, toys, books and more. All products are priced resonably and at times given free to families who express a need. The store proceeds go back into the community through current riverworks programs. The store has one full time staff and five part-time staff.
community building events and programs include crow river serve day, lunch box fever, and crow river christmas. These are done for the sole purpose of bringing the community together and to provide services where needed. These include crow river christmas, national night out, lunch box fever, and thousand hearts serve day.
