We recently attended the meeting to pick out our addresses for the homes in Moreno Valley that will be going up soon. As always we felt welcomed by all of the staff. My children and I are very thankful for the program Habitat for Humanity Riverside has to offer us. Because of them we are able to purchase a home that is affordable. We are very excited about this opportunity. Thank you Habitat for Humanity Riverside for all that you do to make a difference in our community. Because of you we will now be able to call a place that is safe and affordable our home.
It was an awesome experience and an awesome group of people to work with! From a volunteer standpoint, it was organized and I felt that I was able to really contribute. It was a very humbling and rewarding experience
It was a humble experience to be able to help Habitat for Humanity "A Brush with Kindness". So rewarding on so many levels. Great first time experience! Looking forward to my next volunteer day..
It is pure joy to work with Habitat Riverside where everyone does such a great job at all levels and has the motivation to help people with such integrity and dignity. The evidence is at these house blessings here the Habitat team are equally at home joking with elected officials as well as vendors and sponsors. They make it personal, which it is!
Habitat for Humanity Riverside's dedication to the task of providing home ownership for these families is evident in everything they do. Habitat Riverside's events are always fun because everyone is smiling, knowing they are changing lives. Goal accomplished!!
This kind of positive work environment and partnering with outside agencies and companies starts at the top and filters down. If I didn’t love my job I would be looking to work at H4H Riverside!
Blessings on all of you. Rev. Erin
I choose my causes carefully and was even more selective when deciding to enlist the help of others for a project. As crew leader for Magnolia Presbyterian church's Mission Team we again (2nd time) chose Habitat's "Brush with Kindness" project to paint a mobile home in Riverside. The experience was fantastic. We met a very grateful homeowner who had recently lost her husband, our team of 19 volunteers were well informed and Habitat showed up with ALL materials. All we needed to do was provide the labor. GREAT time, low commitment (4 hours on a Saturday) plus the benefit of seeing immediate results for our efforts. We will definitely work with them again!!
I have volunteered with Habitat for Humanity once before, which was a wonderful experience. Over this past weekend, I got the opporunity to participate in building the walls of a home for fellow Habitat volunteers. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this project. The people were absolutely AMAZING and knowing that we were giving back to two wonderful women, made it even more special. i would volunteer again for Habitat at the drop of a dime. Great people, great causes. The experience was more than rewarding and I have been blessed by the event.
I have always payed It forward so I am always looking for projects to do. After I signed up for Habitat For Humanity, I saw there was a volunteer day to paint an elderly couple's Mobile Home house. I got there and met 12 of the nicest people all wanting to pay it forward. Dave our Foreman was outstanding, organized, and helpful. We got the job done in 3.5 hrs! and I loved it so much, i am signing up for 3 more this month. Seriously - this is a NO BRAINER - if you have some spare time - get to Habitat for Humanity and get to work!
This was my first time volunteering with Habitat, and even though it was the middle of summer and a landscaping job in the hot hot heat, I had a blast! Everyone was very friendly. It was well organized, the foreman was very informative and helpful. I didn't expect to have as much fun as I did, we had a great group. Everyone really pulled together and we finished 2 hours ahead of schedule! I will definitely volunteer with them again. I think it is an incredible organization!
What a great review JennaRocks! We were happy to share it on our Facebook!
First time volunteer for Habitat for Humanity...I was impressed with the group that put it together. Everything was organized, after orientation everyone knew where to be and what to do, everyone was friendly and happy to lend a helping hand. I know I'll volunteer for another event through Habitat.
Habitat for Humanity Riverside is a great non-profit organization that consists of friendly employees and volunteers that are willing to put aside their hardships in order to be of aid to those who are suffering in the community due to their lack of decent and affordable housing. They organize various volunteer projects that are efficient and fun from the Helping Hands Project (improving the exterior of mobile homes for the elderly or disabled) to bigger deconstruction projects. While at the Helping Hands projects, I always have a great time painting or pulling weeds with my fellow volunteers who are determined to improve the homes of our neighbors in the community. The staff always makes sure that the volunteers are well taken care of by providing us with water and assists us with our task. HFHR truly involves the rest of the community in their efforts to improve areas that are not as fortunate. Their goals are portrayed through the non-profits programs and employees.
I recently attended a home dedication where the families received the keys to their homes. I was most impressed by the community support this organization received. The local city council and local community organizations all took a few minutes to speak about their involvement with Habitat and how much they supported their mission. It was on a Saturday too!
Having been involved with Habitat's projects with Thrivent Builds has been a wonderful experience. I am a youth leader and very often, our middle school youth aren't able to participate in these type of projects. But we have been invited, and have served, twice to provide lunches for the volunteers working on the build itself. This allows the younger youth to see firsthand the work being done and to get excited about helping in the future.
Habitat's staff has always been welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. It's a pleasure to work in partnership with them for the good of others.
The Riverside chapter of Habitat For Humanity has been a major asset to the community. They have developed a large network of supporting agencies and organizations which allow for hundreds of volunteers to help in their various projects.
I have personally benefited from helping with several projects and have seen first hand how their efforts have brought the community together to improve housing for people in need. Their projects also have made a significant contribution to improve neighborhoods which have been damaged by the many foreclosures in this area.
I look forward to working on their new projects in the coming years. I have signed-up as a regular volunteer so that I can be notified when they need volunteer help.
I volunteered with Habitat for Humanity Riverside and was very impressed with their Homes for Heroes program. It meant a lot to me as a volunteer to contribute to a deserving organization that was providing a meaningful "hand-up" to military families.
Awesome work, great organization, amazing people. Keep it up!
Habitat for Humanity has been a passion of mine for many years. As a seasoned “DIY” er, I have enjoyed working side by side with experienced & novice volunteers, learning from and teaching others. The excitement at the work site is exhilarating. Being a part of God’s people working together to give a beautiful, landscaped, customized home to a community member who has been without is an awesome, humbling experience. Habitat builds the Kingdom of God in many ways at many levels. It is a great way to share His love in a real, personal way. I would encourage anyone with a servant’s heart to get involved. You will be forever changed.
I am a proud Habitat For Humanity volunteer. They are a great organization. I worked on Four different houses. I witness how Steve Pep Habitats project manager worked on this houses. He put alot of work to quality and detail.
This was my first time helping with the Habitat for Humanity and it was a great experience for me. I enjoyed the work as well as the people. It is a good cause to be a part of. I was encouraged by all of the people who were at site and their hard work.
Dear Friends and Family, I would like to take a minute and share something with you that I had the privilege to see this past Saturday. Normally on the weekends I will not budge from my bed at an early hour, but my husband asked me to attend this event and I said I would go. I would not normally share what I am about to share with you, I am turning over a new leaf in life. So here it is. Saturday, October 31, 2009, I attended a house dedication with Habitat for Humanity. I am about to show you the before pictures of this property. They are not pretty, so be prepared. This is no 3rd world nation, this is right here out in our own backyards in Riverside. So many people say they want to help, and here you can help your own community. This was previously a drug house on 37th Street. It was a blight in the neighborhood. With this build, other neighbors are coming together and fixing up their homes. It look weeks to haul all the trash away. This beautiful home will house a married couple and their 3 children under age 6. They were living in a one bedroom apartment. This home touts many “Green” features, from the roof to the yard. Looking at these pictures, it is hard to believe a beautiful home came from rubble. There are Americans living like this. Some by choice, some because there is nowhere else to go. But the great things that make America the best country in the world, is human spirit and humanity. People came together, companies volunteered tools, material and most important their time. People volunteered their time, even if it was to photo document the build, or prepare lunches for all of the volunteers. It makes me proud I live here, and I will be joining the Habitat family because I believe in the cause. As with all things in this world, Habitat for Humanity cannot survive without donations. Donations do not have to be monetary. They can be your time or supplies. It could be helping make 100 sandwiches and drinks to feed the volunteers. We are nearing the end of 2009, and there are still a few of you out there who want or need to give to a charity. I feel a charity that gives a family a home is one of the best ways to spend your money.
