A field trip to Riveredge Nature Center is many students' first immersion into the natural world. It's their first time wading through a river to discover the hidden reams of life below its surface. It's their first time burrowing through the dirt and connecting the crumbling particles to almost every aspect of their life. It's their first time practicing science outside of the classroom, and their first time realizing a career in science is not only fun, but possible.

Current research indicates that time in nature is directly correlated to improved physical and mental health, appropriate brain development, and adequate academic performance in school.

I committed to covering the cost of one student to attend a school field trip at this amazing place. By asking my friends and family to join me in helping to get "Riveredge Kids" outdoors through a peer-to-peer fundraising model, I quickly raised $200 which will provide this unforgettable experience for 20 students. Other friends, staff, and board members of Riveredge are doing the same and we have a goal of raising $5,000 to get 500 students learning in the outdoors. Will you join us?
