Mission: River region human services, inc. Provides services to the greater jacksonville area that focus on assisting persons in developing and maintaining a functional independent lifestyle free from the use of dependency-producing drugs, the debilitating effects of mental disorders, the commission of antisocial and criminal activities; and the ravages of sexually transmitted diseases by delivering an effective and coordinated continuum of education, prevention and treatment programs supported by medical and social services responsive to the needs of the clients.
Programs: River region's addiction treatment services unit offers a continuum of care for addressing substance abuse and addiction. Included in the programs that river region offers as part of this service are recovery training, individual counseling, residential treatment, and transitional housing services.
river region's prevention department helps young people to develop healthy lifestyles. Strengthening families helps youth ages ten through fourteen and parents with their communication skills. Kid power helps elementary school students whose reading and math scores are below grade level to come up to or above grade level. Training of teens is a program for identifying substance abuse and mental health issues and providing intervention where needed. The program is designed to identify and eliminate risk factors and improve protective factors. The youth explosion is an annual risk reduction intervention conference where young people ages nine through eighteen learn about healthy lifestyles during a 24-hour lock in.
river region provides treatment and counseling services to clients with mental health disorders or co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders. Services are provided under the supervision of our medical director/psychiatrist and according to licensure stipulations for the florida department of children and families. Services include: targeted case management, psychiatric evaluation and assessment, individual therapy and others.
