This is an amazing place. The horses come first and Kelly puts her heart and soul into teaching responsible horsemanship. I am blessed to volunteer there. My daughter comes with me and we look forward to it every weekend.
Everyone here is really kind and generous with their knowledge, which honestly, isn't always the case at barns.
My daughter is painfully shy and afraid of everything. She's been coming with me for months and has made new friends, gotten more comfortable around the horses, gained confidence from a job well done, and looks up to the older girls who freely teach her. She loves to stand by the ring and hope that Kelly needs something and she can go get it. She's gained so much being there and knowing she's doing something positive for the horses. I'm forever grateful!
Rising Starr is near and dear to me. I met Kelly Stackpole through her barn moonlight farm. My daughter is epilepsy and special needs. Kelly’s horse Bert helped me get thru some very tough times. Bert was the first rescue horse and from him and his spirit did Kelly come up with the idea of Rising Starr. So when a horse like Bert changed me life I was happy to be on the board of such a wonderful horse rescue. We started with nothing and with volunteers, education and donations we’ve managed to save horses just like Bert
I have followed Rising Starr Horse Rescue from their inception, and I cannot say enough about this wonderful organization! The dedication to helping the sad plight of so many horses by giving them love, health care, training, and eventually a wonderful home of their own with humans who truly love, and care for them is amazing. I look forward to RSHR's expanding plans to reach out with a broadening level of programs that will reach a variety of organizations, and individuals, who will be the recipients of the love that a horse can bring to their lives!
Amazing group of volunteers, under the guidance of a director, and founder going the distance to rescue homeless horses, that with care, attention, and training are being adopted into forever homes. One of the most admired things about this organization is the effort to also train, and educate the adopter on the responsibility needed to owning a horse! It is a forever commitment!!
