Rccf was awarded a sub-grant from heritage fund, columbus, in. Heritage is a grantee from lilly endowment for the eco15 grant. This grant will fund educational programs associated with stem (science, technology, engineering, math). Over a three year period (2014, 2015, 2016) of time, rccf will receive $470,000 to support operations and programming for ec015.
on march 2, 2012, a tornado touched down several times at different locations in ripley county. The most devastation was in holton, indiana, ripley county. Three people died, either immediately or later after the disaster. Lilly endowment inc. , indianapolis, offered a grant to central indiana united way for disaster recovery. In various areas of indiana where tornadoes did damage that day there were local united way organizations to handle the administration of this grant. Ripley county does not have a united way agency so central indiana united way, at the request of lilly endowment, asked the ripley county community foundation to administer ripley county's portion of the grant. The executive director immediately started to attend the long term recovery group meetings and agreed to become the fiscal sponsor of the recovery. Donations were accepted by the foundation from all over the country for the recovery of our county. Administration of the lilly ednowment grant, i. E. Financial reports and narrative reports and contracting with recovery staff all were done by the foundation. The long term recovery group and the ripley county community foundation signed a memo of understanding whereby all expenses for the recovery first were approved by the long term recovery group prior to any invoice being paid. Each invoice paid has the signature of the recovery group's treasurer. The excutive director of the foundation and/or a representative of her attended each monthly (or more often) ltrg meeting to ensure accountability and due diligence. The charitable class for this disaster includes the residents of ripley county, in, approximately 26,000 individuals.
