This is one of the most well organized, professional and truly effective nonprofits I have ever had the pleasure of consulting with. They have a broad community reach and do their homework when it comes to due diligence toward grantees, board members, vendors and professional partnerships. Their output is always of the highest quality and they are appreciated widely, both by regional leaders for their professionalism as well as city residents for their compassion and resources.

I have served on many non-profit boards in the past and none has brought me as much joy as the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation. It is a pleasure to serve on a board that GIVES.....never takes, but only gives to its community. This organization provides a spectrum of services to individuals living with cancer - from transportation, to direct medical care and, perhaps one of my favorites, art therapy to children battling cancer from a stellar organization called Creative Kids. The RGCF has an unparalleled reputation in the El Paso community and that is mostly due to the phenomenal staff. Patty Tiscareno and her staff are dedicated, selfless and committed to the cause. I feel so very fortunate to be associated with this orgaization!

I serve on several nonprofit boards. One I serve on is the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation and it is different and this is why... We actually give Grants instead of asking for them. This year we gave over $300,000 to about 17 different nonprofit organizations that have a cancer component to their mission. One of RGCF signature events is its annual workshop called "Keep on Dancing". This is an all day workshop where patients, along with care givers and family members, get the opportunity to ask questions and get information from Doctors in the different cancer specialties. (Thank you Doctors for giving of your time!) This is done in a round table format. The day is filled with learning, sharing and motivational opportunities. The need for this type of event is obvious by the number of participants that crowd the event and the different tables. RGCF is an awesome organization that continues to recognize the needs in the community and reaches to meet them. It is lead by its brilliant and compassionate leader Patty Tiscareno and her staff. I look forward to every Board meeting, the Board is comprised of active members who are passionate about serving, I am proud in be on this board. Dan Olivas
