Causes: Anthropology & Sociology
Mission: The rice lake resource center is a nonprofit organization created in 1994 to address the preservation of the culture and language of the ojibwe people. The resource center is focused on initiatives that promote the continued participation of ojibwe communities in culture and language seasonal way of life.
Programs: Two first language speakers are teaching two apprentices the language and also to carry on traditional practices and ways of life. The speakers and apprentices work together multiple times a week and they have presented their accomplishments to the board once so far. Our objective is language and cultural revitalization, ojibwe life-cycle ceremonies and way of life. Our apprentices are learning to speak with fluency and are well versed in some of the cultural ceremonies.
This organization's nonprofit status may have been revoked or it may have merged with another organization or ceased operations.
