When my partner and I retired, I knew my job was going to leave me on the hook for all expenses related to my best friend at a time when he would need it most. That's when I found out about the Retired Police K9 Foundation. It couldn't have come at a more important time in our lives. Tina and Rich have been nothing short of saviors to so many K9's, their Handlers and our families. When considering a donation, please consider the great work The Foundation does for so many that have served so many. ~Police Officer Rob Savage and K9 MookieMTA Police Department K9-35

Happy Holidays to my fellow retired K9's and handlers out there, K9 Razor here. On behalf of myself and my handler/family I would like to give a big thank you to the Retired Police Canine Foundation for assisting my family with my vet bill, as I was feeling a bit run down with an ear infection and the aches and pains that come with being 14 and 1/2 years old. But with some meds and great care provided by the Animal Medical Hospital of Centereach, I'm feeling great. A big bark of  Thank You to all of you Special people out there who genuinely care for and generously donate to this wonderful Foundation.

The Retired Police Canine Foundation helped take care of Felony, my husband's last police dog. Over the years we have had several police dogs at our home. When we were asked to give Felony a forever home, we didn't hesitate. Since we found out about the Retired Police Canine Foundation and the help they provide, it made giving Felony the best care easier in his retirement years.

Tina and the rest of the staff were wonderful to work with and incredibly helpful. Thank you so much for all you do!

The Retired Police K9 Foundation has been a tremendous help in assisting with my retired Explosives Detection Dog Aggie. Aggie is 11 years old and has arthritis in her shoulders, hips and joints and takes monthly injections to help with her mobility. She also has kidney disease which is controlled through a prescription diet and medication. Needless to say, her veterinary care is very expensive and RPK9 has been a tremendous help!

My K9 partner unfortunately retired in 2022 due to unforeseen circumstances. I am thrilled that he gets to live his time out with me however what comes with a retired K9 is the high cost of medical bills that is not paid for by the department. This foundation is essential in helping retired dog enjoy their life after service and I am grateful for all the people that donate to such a great organization.

I cannot say enough good words about Retired Police Canine Foundation Inc. I registered my canine partner shortly after he retired and ever since then they have taken care of all of his veterinary bills since. He retired when he was 10 years old and is now almost 13 years old. This organization has been responsive from having to take him in for a routine checkup to when he had to be seen for something out of the ordinary. It definitely has eased the burden on my family to ensure he receives the proper care after his retirement.

I cannot express my gratitude enough for the Retired Police K9 organization. Rich having been a K9 handler for many years recognizes the strong bond between handlers and their K9 partners and understands the special needs of the retired K9’s. Because of the nature of their work they can be exposed to toxic elements and can also experience serious joint problems over time from the physical requirements of their jobs. In spite of this, our K9 heroes love their jobs and selflessly work to protect the public everyday and this does not go unnoticed by the RPK9. You can hear the compassion Tina has for the K9’s and her eagerness to help whenever you speak to her. And that emotional support is just as important as the financial support. Please consider donating to the RPK9.org because they truly understand the devotion of our K9 heroes and go above and beyond to make them comfortable and happy in their retirement.
K9 Tyson and I thank you for all of your help.

There are not enough words that can explain how amazing this organization (RPK9) truly is. There are so many non-profits out there who offer help, but when it comes down to it they offer little if any assistance. NOT THIS ONE!!!! Tina and her team are amazing. They are compassionate and truly understand the sacrifices that these K9 heroes have made. When retired K9 Ostar developed an infection on one of his paws and required medical attention, Tina and her team offered immediate assistance. While speaking to her, it was apparent that she truly cared for K9 Ostars well being. After K9 Ostar’s recovery I sent Tina a message to thank her for all her help, however it was her who thanked us for our service and advised me to reach out to her if I ever needed anything in the future. I was at a loss for words… Thank you so much…. It’s comforting to know that RPK9 will never turn their backs on these heroes!!!

As a K-9 Handler, when facing the retirement of your partner, much uncertainty exists. The medical cost of a retired police K9 is substantial and ultimately falls on the handler with most agencies and K9's.

When I found this program and made contact with the organizers, and it showed that people truly do care about these retired heroes. After they give so much to keep communities safe, it's GREAT to know there are people and organizations that care about these heroes who will undoubtedly sacrifice their lives to protect us all.

The retired Police Canine foundation has shown through the support they give that these canines service doesn't go unnoticed and is much needed!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

Retired Police Canine Foundation is a top notch organization. They were there immediately to assist my partner K9 Ikar once he started to incur medical bills after his medical retirement. The staff is cut from K9 Handler cloth so they know the ins and outs of working dog needs, but more importantly they understand the emotional bond between handler and K9. The foundation serves as a safety net for these retired working dogs who will have dedicated the majority of their lives to service. I can't say enough about the foundation. They are a blessing.

RPK9 is amazing organization that provides immeasurable support to retired police K9s. Due to extensive training and long working hours, unfortunately many police K9s develop serious medical conditions upon retirement. While many departments turn their backs on our heroic partners, RPK9 stands by them to provide whatever resource necessary. Only ten days after K9 Ostar retired, he developed an obstruction in his intestines and what was believed to be a precancerous tumor. He required immediate surgery ($6000). While the department he served for the past seven years refused to provide any assistance, RPK9 Foundation provided us with an amazing support system. Their generosity and well wishes will always be appreciated. Ostar fully recovered and is enjoying his retirement. Thank you RPK9 Foundation for everything you do.

I can not thank Retired Police Canine Foundation enough for all that they have done for my retired USDA Agricultural K-9 Venus. They helped her and me so much in her time of need.
2-3 years ago venus was diagnosed with bone cancer and had to have her back leg removed and six rounds of chemotherapy which the Foundation helped pay for. It is because of there help that I am happy to say venus is still cancer free and able to enjoy life.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago and once again the Foundation (and their donors) stepped up to help K-9 venus. Venus was diagnosed with laryngeal paralysis and the only solution was a costly surgery. Again, the Foundation stepped up and covered the cost for her surgery!
I am happy to report that K-9 Venus is back to her old self and has healed up great. I couldn't have done this without this amazing Foundation. I will always be greatful for what they have done to help K-9 Venus and me.

The Retired Police Canine Foundation has been nothing short of amazing in helping to provide financial support to us with Retired K9 Jerry’s medical needs. Not only have they helped us with vet bills, but provide assistance with food as well. Around eight months ago, Jerry was diagnosed with kidney disease. With the foundation’s help, we were able to get him on a quality preventative diet, in addition to assistance with follow up vet visits. As of now, his last visit showed that his bloodwork has actually improved from a few months ago, which is amazing due to the progressive nature of this disease. Jerry is an incredible family member and partner, and we hope that this stays this way because he brings so much joy to our lives. Thanks to the Retired Canine Foundation’s help, we are able to provide Jerry with the right medical attention he deserves after serving his community. We couldn’t be more grateful!

Retired Police Canine Foundation has been a life saver for our family. They have been extremely easy and helpful to work with. They take the stress out of bringing a retired police dog home. For anyone that isn’t familiar, I adopted my K-9 partner for $1 after he retired. This made me responsible for all of his medical bills, including preexisting conditions and medications. K9 Breta became my partner in 2012 and she retired in 2021 . She was deployed over 100 times per year during her career. Training, play, and work for dogs like this add up to a lot of wear and tear. She became "officially" mine when she retired and her upkeep and vet bills did as well. Like most handlers, there was no way I was going to give my dog up.
I was told about the Retired Police Canine Foundation and was able to get Breta sponsored by them. Their assistance with Breta's vet bills has been incredible. I reach out for some help, and even though I wasn’t his original handler, they were amazing and helped me obtain a kennel that would help K9 Viggo save while I was at work. That was 5 years ago! I. Having the retired police canine foundation there to help with medical cost has been a big piece of mind. Garth retired after 6 years of dedicated service, working to keep drugs out of schools and educating kids. The wear and tear put on these dogs often leads to an early retirement. They say not all angel's have wings and I totally agree after getting my retired police K-9 "Lex" into this amazing program!! You guys have no idea how fantastic we have been treated every step of the way and how accommodating the Retired Police Canine Foundation has been to us. Most police agencies do not have the extra funds to support a retired police K-9 after retirement to cover miscellaneous high medical bills and food costs. These police dogs are worth their weight in gold for the job they do while working catching violent criminals, taking dangerous drugs off the streets, locating bombs, and putting their lives on the line so that their human partners can go home safely to their family at the end of their shift. We can at least attempt to treat them with dignity and provide them with the best care possible during however much time they have left to spend with their family's before they are forever gone from this world and cross over to rainbow bridge. Thank you again for allowing us to be a part of this wonderful foundation.

K9 Gabby has been retired for about 3years and we have been responsible for her care as she lives her life with Addison's Disease. Most police departments do not provide any financial support once the K9 is retired. Gabby is a wonderful Black Lab with a gentle disposition and gives unconditional love to everyone she meets. Gabby is on daily oral medication and monthly subcutaneous injections to manage her condition. Even with her required medications she will have some break through Addison's emergencies. These events usually require her to be brought to an Animal Hospital to be stabilized and will need to stay in the hospital for a day or two until she can be stabilized. Unfortunately she has been averaging one break through event a year.
We are very grateful for the financial support we have received last year and this year for Gabby's medications and vet care. It is so comforting to know that people care about what happens to these wonderful working dogs that give 100% doing their job. While most departments fund medical benefits for our active partners, some coverage stops when the K9 retires from service, leaving the handler with the full cost of the medical bills.
The Most expensive costs for a K9, happens to be during retirement and while all handlers will have no problem paying the cost, it’s nice that an organization such as the Retired Police Canine Foundation Inc., goes out of their way to alleviate that burden. While I don’t have one myself, I was able to reach out Frank for help about a retired K9 that I knew was going to need some long term help and care, and he pointed me in this direction. This foundation and cause I’d very near and dear to me, and deserves all of the help and support they can get.

My retired police K9 (George) has been cared for by Retired Police K9 Foundation for the last 3 years. They have taken a good chunk of the financial burden off of me and my family by always being there. George had an abscess that developed on one of his rear toes. It became difficult for him to walk and started to become an issue in his daily life. The surgery which rang to the tune of $2000 was mostly covered by the foundation. I cannot thank them enough for always looking out for George and us. Organizations like these really make an impact on the world!

I adopted my retired military working dog a year ago and never even knew about his great organization until I got a retirement care box from MWDTSA for Leo. I emailed them and just asked if I could participate in the free chip registration and they reached back out and said they had openings for there program and if accepted it was a lifetime program for the remainder of my MWD’s life. So obviously I had to apply and see if Leo made the cut. Due to a deployment and getting hit with shrapnel from a IED he has a lot of medical issues and is on pain medication for the rest of his life. This organization doesn’t just pay for his medical expenses but his food as well! I’m so grateful for this organization and what they do!

I retired from the NYPD in December of 2017 with my canine. Upon retiring I moved to Las Vegas subsequently I needed to leave my dog behind for a month or so while I found a home. .After finding a home retired police canine foundation shipped my dof to me in Las Vegas and since living here they been helping with my medical and food bills I couldn't thank this Foundation enough... Just wonderful people doing great things for retired police and military canine. Once again if you can find it in your heart to make a donation it's money well spent.
