Mission: Developing and implementing holistic programming for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women. Resolana proves gender-specific programming and case management to female offenders, beginning inside the dallas county jail and continuing through reentry into the community. The mission is to educate and empower incarcerated women. Our goals are to increase readiness for change on the inside, increase utilization of existing community resources on the outside, and reduce recidivism.
Programs: In fiscal year 2013 (july 12, 2012-june 30, 2013) resolana served 492 women, conducting classes, providing reentry planning, and facilitating a modified social learning community behind bars. 1095 classes were held on topics designed to address core issues underlying women's criminal involvement. With high rates of addiction and histories of physical and sexual abuse in the jail population, topics included staying safe, 12 steps, coping skills, anger management, grief and loss, and parenting, as most incarcerated women are mothers who live with multiple minor children. The women are housed together in a self-contained jail unit, adjacent to our classroom and isolated from the general jail population. There they are immersed in the kind of structured and supportive social learning community that research shows improve outcomes. 153 community meetings were held to facilitate the social environment. Resolana provided 355 case management conferences, focusing on crisis stabilization and reentry planning. All clients complete a reentry plan within one week of entry into the program.
