Great group of committed volunteers that takes dogs from high-kill shelters and places them in loving homes! Rescue Road is super organized and easy to work with. I've really enjoyed my time volunteering as a foster!
Wonderful caring volunteers that advocate for all dogs regardless of breed or medical concerns. Top notch professional all volunteer organization.
My long-term companion, Duke, passed on earlier this year. I felt a need to make a difference after I lost him. Thanks to Rescue Road, I am able to save many lives and improve my local community in the process.
What can I say about Phlox, aka Gus! Gus, after two opinions, had to have his right front leg removed… that was AFTER he went thru heartworm treatment, which is very serious and takes about 3 months due to its serious nature. After that, we began discussing surgery… he was such a trooper! He was now officially a Tripod… how I hated him losing that limb. He recovered! Transported to MA and was adopted by a couple that think the sun rises and sets on little Gus. Rescue Road paid for everything. They are a wonderful organization made up of loving caring people who love animals and just want to see them happy and healthy… this is just one dog. There are many many too numerous to mention… I love being part of such a wonderful caring organization.
Saving dogs from the slums of a so called dog shelter is so rewarding. The pups know they have been saved. Shelter, food and love is all you have to provide. Rescue Road pays for all the vetting.
I have been fostering and supporting Rescue Road for over two years. This group pulls pups/dogs from kill shelters in Arkansas and networks on transport to northern rescue groups. RR has saved thousand of dogs. I am so impressed with their compassion and organizational skills. Proud to be a part of this great rescue.
Been fostering for RR off and on for years now and wow, do they save a lot of dogs. If I can just supply a foster, a lot of times they will agree to pull a dog from the shelter I volunteer at when I ask, where they will die otherwise. They put so much work and time and money into these dogs before they head north to find forever homes. They are a literal lifeline. God bless them.
I adopted a dog from the local shelter without anyone realizing she was pregnant. I was prepared for one dog, not six puppies. Rescue Road was able to foster them in the South, then they went North, where the northern fosters found them adopters.
Rescue Road is filled with amazing volunteers who truly want the best for the dogs. I've been a volunteer for about 5 years and have fostered about 80 dogs from small puppies to giant breeds, from perfectly healthy pups to pups with mange, crooked legs, and heart worm positive. I usually have 2-4 fosters at all times. Rescue Road volunteers are there to support the dogs and human fosters with vacation coverage, supplies, emotional support, and a myriad of other things.
We advocate to everyone we know the importance of fostering, adopting, and spaying and neutering. The rescue supported me when I found a stray heartworm positive dog and accepted her into the rescue when I volunteered to foster her. She would have been shot or hit by a car out in the area where I found her. Thanks to Rescue Road and our partner rescue in the Northeast, that dog is happily adopted now and adored by her owners.
I have been involved with Rescue Road since the beginning (Sept 2012) and watched/participated as we have saved more than 8,000 dogs from euthanization in shelters. We do no local adoptions because there are so many Arkansas dogs looking for homes - we get them out of state and encourage people looking for a pet to go to their local shelters and save another! Sometimes people fall in love with their foster dog (I've done it a few times!), but committed fosters understand our mission and want to be part of saving more dogs.
Bad experience. These people are NOT honest. Its about the money to them. Please choose a good rescue place when donating, or anything else.
These folks pull animals from kill shelters, get them fully vetted and send them on to the road to rescue partners in states where they have a better chance of finding forever homes. As one of their providers for veterinary care, I am always impressed by their attention to detail and support to their foster parents. My only wish is that they would help us flood Arkansas adopters with already spayed/neutered animals like they do in New England!
This rescue is leading in saving lives. Dogs are pulled from various shelters and are put into foster care where they wait until healthy enough to travel to our sister rescue in Boston. No dog is judged based on age, breed, or health. All dogs get a chance even when they have some behavior issues. Over 700 dogs saved last year!
