Rescue One is a foster-based dog rescue in the SW MO area. I have volunteered with this wonderful organization, adopted from them (6 dogs!), and served on their Board of Directors. I can tell you every member of their team works hard every single day to help the lost, abandoned, and discarded dogs in our area. Rescue One takes animals no one else wants and helps rehabilitate them to become valued members of the future adopter's family. They spend hundreds of thousands of dollars each year for veterinary care. Nothing is too severe for them to treat. The organization has evolved over the last few years to include a dedicated trapping team, they have trainers available to work with the dogs that need a little extra socialization or manners, photographers that make the most of every dog's profile. Rescue One relies solely on the support and donations from the community. Considering they have between 140 to 200 dogs in their care at any given time, they need a lot of support! They provide the foster "parents" with everything they need to care for their foster dogs--food, veterinary care, flea treatment, heart worm preventative, treats, and more. Every dog gets spayed or neutered before they can be adopted. In 2017 alone they adopted out over 1300 animals. Rescue One also works with the community to help promote responsible dog ownership by providing low-cost spay and neuter services as well as low-cost vaccination clinics through their partner organization, SAAF. "Rescue One...until there are none!"
The staff is amazing thru every situation. They support and love all the furbabies and their volunteers and fosters. They go above and beyond to make sure everyone has everything they need to take care of fosters. They help us screen people to ensure every dog or cat adopted has an amazing forever home so they can live their best life. I am amazed at everything everyone involved in Rescue One does. They are the best. They also they make sure we have lots of events to attend with our fosters!❤️
I have never met a more dedicated, passionate, and caring group of people! My parents just adopted a dog from them. The foster was very knowledgable and worked with them closely to make sure their new dog would adjust. They also have helped me TNR feral cats around my neighborhood! Thank you R1!
My rural community has a problem with abandoned, neglected and loose dogs & cats, as well as pet owners in need of outreach services. There is no animal control or other governmental agency to address these problems and needs. Our local rescues are the only help and Rescue One has been vital in getting these needed services to the community. I've relied on them to rescue animals in need, animals in danger of being shot because they are creating nuisances or hazards. Our sheriff's office has relied on them as well when animals are involved in calls. Rescue One has a feral cat trap, neuter and release program, and outreach food and vetting services. They are out in the middle of night trapping animals. They take on medical cases and senior dogs/cats that most rescues refuse. They have rehomed thousands of animals. I have volunteered and/or fostered with them for over 6 years now, and adopted one of my dogs from them as well. I have also volunteered for other rescues and shelters in the past. The amount of time, dedication and willingness they have to take on seemingly insurmountable caseloads is amazing, and their vision for expanding in order to meet the ever growing needs of the community has been impressive and inspiring. Hands down the best rescue or shelter ever.
Rescue One is such a great outreach in Missouri. From community outreach to rehabilitation and veterinary care, they've made such a positive impact in Springfield and the surrounding areas. I am so impressed by the volunteer efforts and the community involvement with this organization that make it such a fantastic resource to have for pets and pet owners alike.
I have been a foster with Rescue One for many years and can't say enough about this group of selfless people.
When there are dogs (or cats!) desperate for help - injured, scared, alone - this rescue does everything in its power to save them.
I wish every community was lucky enough to have an organization like Rescue One to properly care for and place their homeless animals.
Rescue One never stops when it comes to rescue. They do everything they can for animals and the pet community. From emergency rescues to low cost vaccines and even food outreach, they never stop.
It hurts them so deeply that they can't help and save every animal but they do all within their power to do everything can.
It takes a village to do all they do. They have a wonderful staff and a village of fosters and volunteers. They always can use more fosters to save for animals. It's well worth it to save these helpless babies.
I can’t say enough good things about this organization. They truly care about animals but they also care about the human side of rescue. I’ve also watched over the years and am impressed by their stewardship of resources and time. They go above and beyond. We are blessed to have them in the Ozarks!
I foster through Rescue One. What an absolute amazing organization. If there’s an animal out there that needs help, somehow Rescue One always finds a way!
Rescue One is amazing I tried to become a Volunteer for another rescue and they never got back to me. When I contacted Rescue One they called me back the same day. All the people who work for Rescue One are amazing and always there to help. My first Foster was a momma dog (One year old Tabitha) Tabitha was in a car with her 10 puppies. The people driving were drunk and the police took Tabitha (she was so starved but was a great momma) I had a hard time getting her to gain weight. Tabby went from 37 pounds in May to 53 pounds in August. She still needs to gain weight. Tabby is an amazing dog. The people at Rescue One are amazing people and they were always there for me when I had questions. Rescue One is the best Rescue for all the animals.
I have volunteered with Rescue One for years. And I have adopted from them. They always strive to save every life they can. They go above and beyond in the rescue, care, rehabilitation, and placement of the pets in their care. I have seen volunteers crawling in drainage ditches, under dilapidated houses, trudging through tick-infested woods, and facing dangerous situations in order to save just one more. I have seen fosters work with dogs for years in order to help them overcome their trauma, become adoptable, and find their perfect forever home. They deserve every bit of the praise that they earn.
Rescue one is an amazing resource for our community. Not only do they rescue thousands of unwanted animals (many with significant injuries or complex medical needs) and fully vet them (spay/neuter/microchip/vaccinate) before finding them forever homes but they also offer several outreach programs that are greatly needed such as low cost vaccine clinics, spay and neuter assistance for owned animals, providing pet food for families in need, providing education in children’s classrooms, working with law enforcement on abandonment and abuse cases, working with the homeless population to provide adequate pet care, working with the harmony house to assist domestic violence victims with their pets, and so much more! The cats and dogs stay in foster homes while they wait for their forever family and rescue one provides all the supplies the foster parents need to care for their fosters! Rescue One also has their own vet clinic and has been able to help several other rescues with their pets as well. I simply can’t say enough great things about this wonderful organization, their board of directors, their fosters, and their staff- all of whom work endlessly to make a difference in our area in the lives of hundreds of thousands of pets!
Rescue One has the most patient and dedicated volunteers I have ever met. We are fosters and adopted our semi-feral dog from them. We had some struggles fostering over the years, but they are always available to help, give advice and resources to help us through.
I have rescued two cats from Rescue One. They are a fantastic rescue and they care for so many in the community.
Rescue One is the most devoted animal rescue anywhere as far as I can tell. They are the one the police call to pick up animals in emergency situations such as a pet owner passing away or being jailed. They pull animals from Springfield Animal Control and area towns to save them from euthanasia. They take in owner surrenders, dumped animals and strays. They take in animals that need very expensive medical attention and take in animals without regard to how difficult they may be to adopt out. They have an Outreach Program providing pet food for people who can’t afford it . They provide low cost drive through vaccine clinics open to the public. They do so much for so many I’m sure I’ve missed something. Rescue One is very supportive of their fosters, volunteers and the entire community. They do so much to benefit the animals and the people in this area.
Rescue one helps so many in need! I’m a foster through their program and no dog goes unnoticed by anyone connected to rescue one. I have fostered 5 dogs through them and find each time to be a great experience! Such a wonderful facility and group to be apart of!!
I’ve been fostering for Rescue One for almost two years. I’m impressed with how much they can accomplish with so little resources. They have a dedicated group of volunteers who sacrifice so much of themselves to help the animals in our community. I’m proud to tell others I’m a tiny part of this amazing organization. We truly are saving lives and making a difference to animals in need.
Rescue One works to save unwanted and abandoned dogs and cats and works to help owners keep their animals as well!
I have volunteered for Rescue One for over five years. This is an awesome foster-based organization for needy cats /dogs. They are a "village" that goes above and beyond to help animals in need. Not only that, they help women in abusive relationships by caring (fostering) their pets so that they can get out of their situation. Additionally, they distribute pet food for community members who are having a difficult time feeding their pets. They also provide low-cost vaccination events for the Springfield area.
This is a top notch organization and I'm honored to have a small part.
They have helped so many people and animals. They are great people. They work together as a team and make it happen. All the people at Rescue One have devoted their lives to helping animals. They are kind, caring And are very helpful with rescue, networking and resources. Rescue One we are lucky to have you. Until their are none.
Rescue One is an incredible organization that serves the southwest Missouri area. They work closely with the city, county and other agencies to provide much needed services to animals in several counties. Partnerships include providing dog food to area homeless, free and reduced fee vaccine clinics , spay and neutering and surgeries of stray dogs and cats, educational outreach in the local schools and collaboration with Harmony house domestic violence shelter providing fostering for dogs and cats of domestic violence victims.
Rescue One has over 500 volunteers and fosters for dogs and cats, and the organization is always looking to add services for future needs in the community. Wonderful organization, great staff and a huge community of dedicated supporters and volunteers!!
This is my rescue and I've been with them almost 2 years because I feel they do the most good in the community. There's a reason R1 is always the first resource for animals in need- everyone knows we will show up and help in whatever ways we can! I love all my foster dogs and cats and even foster failed one of my own Being involved with R1 is the best decision I've made!
I have adopted from Rescue One, been a foster and a volunteer for the past couple of years. Not only do they go above and beyond for the dogs in their care but do so much for the dogs and people in the community as well. They provide outreach for community members to help keep pets with their families even when times are tough, and they provide temporary safe foster homes for pets of those who are getting out of domestic violence situations until they can be reunited. The difference they make in this town is beyond measure, I can't imagine what Springfield would be like without them.
Rescue One is an amazing non-profit that goes above and beyond for animals in the Springfield Metro area and beyond. Their team works tirelessly to find to rescue, treat, train, foster, and adopt out animals to loving homes! They also are very active in community outreach and animal education. They constantly support their fosters and volunteers and always let them know how appreciated they are.
I have watched this organization from afar, as well as volunteered for, fostered for, and adopted from them. It is well-run at an incredibly lean level where each dollar is stretched to ensure the most animals possible in our community receive the best care available. The people in leadership work tirelessly to save animals and educate humans. It is an often thankless effort, but they persevere, one at a time, Until There Are None. I often judge a company, organization, or person by two criteria: would I trust them with my money and would I trust them with my dog. I can honestly answer yes to both with Rescue One Springfield. I do trust them with my money and I trust them with my dog, the most recent of which I adopted through them. He was starved, sickly and wounded when they rescued him. He is now healthy, loved and gratefully affectionate. Just one of thousands of dogs and cats thriving today due to the efforts of Rescue One.
So many animals have been helped/saved because of this organization and I am so proud to be a part of it!!
My goodness, where to even begin! Rescue one is absolutely a life line for animals in a huge area for this region. They step in and not only rescue, but help to feed the area animals through an outreach. They also provide low cost vaccines, medical care and surgery. It would be a scary world without them.
An amazing place 100 we love u guys thank u for all that u do for the community and the ones that can't help them selfs!
We have fostered three dogs from Rescue One including a medical foster. Our medical foster will soon be a foster fail as soon as he is medically cleared for adoption. I can't say enough great things about this organization as they work diligently to protect animals from neglect and rescue animals from dire situations. I appreciate that Rescue One always accepts their animals back when adopters relinquish them. Such a great organization and our community is so fortunate to have it in our community.
Rescue One constantly steps up to help animals in an area where there are very few options. They have saved thousands of animals that would have otherwise not had anywhere to go.
I am amazed every day at the lengths Rescue One employees and volunteers will go to to help an animal. They help keep me from losing faith in humanity!!
Rescue One does an AMAZING job rescuing dogs around the community and helping with emergency situations. As a volunteer, there is SO much pressure put on us to foster animals. The posts can be rude (not everyone) and insensitive. I believe in the mission and I understand that it can be frustrating when you have no where to put a dog that comes in but if fosters were required to attend behavior training for dogs AND required to attend events, more dogs would be adopted (and not be returned) and more space open. There were so many events that I went to that only had 3-4 dogs show up. How do you expect dogs to get adopted if they don’t show up to events?!
I've worked with rescues since 1979 and with Rescue One since they started in 2013. I've had the pleasure of meeting many wonderful people over the years, but none that compare with the staff and volunteers at Rescue One. While this group has grown exponentially over the years, they still remain a close and committed group that never hesitates to do whatever is necessary to help animals in distress. Their statistics are staggering, the number of animals they have saved are more than impressive. Not only do they take owner surrenders, but they also have volunteers on call 24/7 to rescue strays in distress, even if it means setting traps to safely bring them to safety. Anyone who has ever loved a pet would be proud to be a part of this organization....including me.
I have volunteered with Rescue One for about a year now but have followed their amazing work for a few years. I foster cats and kittens through them and I have seen first hand how caring they are, but also what good stewards they are of their finances and other resources.
I rescued a dog from them who I loved and trained to be a therapy dog. Just recently found out after spending time and money at 2 vets with my 17 yr old who also paid with her own money and pretty much saved her life had a ruptured ear drum. A volunteer from rescue one noticed Luna and butted her nose in my business and called them to tell them my dog left the hospital in terrible condition not knowing the situation as to why I took her home and so I received a text message from Stephanie- the director at 10:00 pm saying I’m going to be reported by animal control- she threatened and accused me of not caring for my dog. So to say I will recommend rescue one, I DO NOT! My dogs are like my children. I do not appreciate the behavior received from them and I will NEVER rescue another dog from them I will find other means

Hi Jen, You are correct that we contacted animal control to check on the dog after there was a report of her being neglected. You were not threatened or harassed. We tried contacting you first to check on the dog and you told us she was none of our concern. We only want the best for Luna and we were sorry to hear about her poor condition.
