The REDSIDE foundation serves a population of very special people, guides in Idaho and honesty just about anywhere if needed.
This group of people share the natural and human history and of wilderness and wildness to world travelers. While the profession seems like continuous fun, it can be difficult as there is no health coverage, and no guarantees of any kind. These jobs incur a lot of PTSD due to the nature of the areas the challenge, wild rivers, steep snowy slopes, long stints away from family and friends.
REDSIDE provides counseling for all forms of addiction, job transitioning, PTSD all while providing guide related scholarships and skills based training. This year they presented a stellar gender diversity session.
They have been so successful in fulfilling their mission they are now expanding into the nearby States of Wyoming and Montana with satellite chapters to serve the guides in those states.
Covid drove people into the outdoors and the level of stress to the guiding community was increased significantly. REDSIDE was there with individual Covid kits to meet the needs to keep guides and clients safe. The organization rose to the challenge and helped to keep us all safe and mentally healthy!!
