I am a volunteer at Red Bucket Equine Rescue and I have had the honor of helping Red Bucket for the past six years. After my tour with Susan Peirce, the co-founder and most dedicated volunteer ever, I wiped my tears and asked what I could do to help be a voice for the voiceless. the horses immediately touched my heart.
I am not a wealthy person but I can organize people, teach, write, groom, clean stalls, fundraise and promote the Red Bucket Equine Rescue and hope that it will make a difference in the lives of our horses. I am one of over two hundred volunteers that are doing what they can to create a safe and secure home for our horses
The mission is to save and rehabilitate horses, restore their trust in humankind and find them safe, loving, and adoptive forever homes. I thought that was a simple mission until I was exposed to reality.
All of the horses are in various stages of recovery from abuse and near death experiences. The majority of our horses can’t be handled by the average horseperson until they have been rehabilitated. We have so many horses from young to old. It is amazing to see, after a few years of rehabilitation and love, the healthy, spirited 4 and 5 year olds that have gained 400 – 600 pounds, and are now being extensively trained so that a forever home can be found.
A loving forever home is exactly what it sounds like. That is a huge commitment for a person to make, and so is owning and caring responsibly for a horse. Red Bucket takes the adoption process very seriously and is truly looking for a match between horse and owner. Our Red Bucket horses cannot afford to ever be in an abusive environment again. No one should have to endure that pain. Can you imagine being starved, no water, tied to a tree and left to die – yes, there are humans walking amongst us every day that are capable of such atrocities!
The Red Bucket symbolizes more than nourishment. It is the beginning of a horse’s new life and reflects the intimacy, trust and relationship that each horse experiences at our facility.
When the horse is adopted into a forever home the bucket goes along, a concrete reminder that in addition to nourishment, you have committed to a special, loving relationship with a truly remarkable animal. Identity, trust and relationship go home with him or her …. Forever.
My family is honored to have adopted Grande.
The horses at Red Bucket Equine Rescue need you. Red Bucket Equine Rescue belongs to all of us. Please come and take a tour, visit our website and find out how you can help these amazing horses.
I invite you to help in becoming the voice for the voiceless.
Gratefully,
Anna Marie Eddy
I have been a supporter and donor from the inception of Red Bucket Equine Rescue. The organization has saved countless horses and people too. The kindness, compassion and endless dedication is impressive. Every dollar goes to the horses and their wellbeing. I will be a supporter and donor as long as there are horses in need.
I have been volunteering for almost 3 years and they have been best 3 years of my life. The level of attention each horse receives from the moment they arrive is with love, care and devotion to rebuilding their faith in mankind. Every decision is made on what's in the best interest of the horse. The property is so pristine - a very calming environment for all who have the privilege to walk the grounds. Each volunteer takes extreme pride with making the rescue a warm and friendly place to be - a place you don't want to leave. It's wonderful to be part of an organization that is making a difference in this world, and saving lives. I am blessed to be part of such an incredible organization, thank you RBER!
I am a donor for Red Bucket Rescue. I have been associated with this fine organizaiton for over five years. I know them to be of the utmost integrity, have the highest standards of care for the horses they serve, constantly exceed expectations for quality, provide impeccable healthcare for the horses, and serve the horses within their purview. The philosphy of "there is always room for one more" serves the horses well. Red Bucket is above and beyond any othe rescue in the United States today with their goals, standards, vision, and forecast for the future.
My name is Linda Rose and I have been a proud supporter of Red Bucket for three years. There is no other horse rescue like Red Bucket. The amazing volunteers create an environment of love, patience, healing and trust for desperate, abused and starving equines. Throw out everything you thought you knew about horse rescues. Red Bucket is a beautiful, magical place where miracles happen every day! The transformation of these emaciated and desperate creatures into healthy, happy riding companions and family members is truly a miracle! It is a privilege for me to be a part of this beautiful work!
I have loved horses my whole life and started riding at the age of nine. By the time I was eleven, my life practically revolved around horses and I was competing at the “A” show level. When I was thirteen years old however, I became aware of the hundreds of thousands of abused, neglected, and slaughter bound American horses. I wasn’t aware, like many, that 92% of these discarded horses are perfectly good and sound. I was extremely moved by the articles and videos that I watched online and I begged my mom to let me volunteer at a horse rescue. After some research I found Red Bucket Equine Rescue in Chino Hills and I forced my mom, who was slightly reluctant at the time because of the drive, to take me out there. In the summer of 2012, we met with Susan Pierce, the founder of Red Bucket, and I pleaded with her to let me volunteer in any way I could. Despite my young age, she agreed to give me a chance and I started volunteering and working with the horses every Sunday. In the midst of a stressful week, I would find my escape and sanctuary with the horses, where I didn’t need words to communicate my feelings. I watched as shattered and broken horses came through the gates of Red Bucket and left with a new purpose, forever home, and sparkle in their eyes.
Red Bucket it truly one of the most magical places that I have ever had the opportunity to be a part of. No words can express the amount of work that goes into keeping this rescue up and running and no words can express how passionate Susan Peirce, and the other volunteers are about the horses and Red Bucket's mission. When I started volunteering at Red Bucket I thought I was going to be helping the horses; little did I know that they would be helping me.
I have been a volunteer at Red Bucket Equine Rescue for nearly 5 years. It has been my privilege to work with so many dedicated people in an effort to help our horses. The Red Bucket Mission, "To save , Rehabilitate and Find Forever Homes" is a bond that all volunteers share. In addition to being a volunteer...I am also an adopter, and sponsor. Red Bucket Equine Rescue is the last chance for many of the equines we serve and there is no greater gift than to watch a horse, donkey or mule that had once been discarded, reclaim his life , and be perfectly matched with an adopter, then leave for his/her "Forever Home"! There is no other rescue that gives the promise of "Forever" like Red Bucket. To volunteer for Red Bucket and be a member of this family is a gift.....one that changed my life.
This is the first non-profit organization that I have been involved in that operates its organization like a professional business. It is run strictly be volunteers and funded 100% by donations. It amazes me the committment that every volunteer and donor has to this organization. It is a must see operation that you will never forget! Visit the ranch if you can or go to their website at www.redbucketrescue.org and make a donation that does make a different. Your donation will not go to administration staff, misc. hidden expenses, etc. It will truly go to the horses!
i am amazed at the quality and care these abused and abandoned horses receive once they arrive at the Red Bucket ranch. They come in with dull eyes and little hope. I love seeing the transformation to life being in their eyes again and a confidence that they are now okay. I take total joy when some of them get a little ornery. To me that means there is still life left in them. One of the best animal rescues organizations I know.
Red Bucket Equine Rescue is a magical place. We became involved because our daughter is an equestrian and has an amazing love of animals, especially horses. Red Bucket is a true "non-profit". There isn't a paid board of directors or anything. Everything is completely run by volunteers who often treat it as a full time job. The transformation the horses go through is truly nothing short of beautiful. They come to Red Bucket broken, both in spirit and in body. The dedicated volunteers take their time to earn trust and then love as they care for these worthy animals. They give them comfort and slowly teach them that they are valued, respected, and cherished. Red Bucket makes each horse a promise. They promise that the horse will not be disregarded or mistreated again. They rehabilitate each horse to reach their full potential, and then find them the perfect family to become a part of. They find a forever home where they will live out their lives being a part of something special. If you are looking for an organization to support, Red Bucket will make your heart happy.
I have been a donor and volunteer at Red Bucket Equine Rescue for almost 5 years now, and I just have to say, this is one of the best run organization I have ever seen. The Ranch is kept immaculate, and the care, attention, love, and training our Equines (Horses, mules, and donkeys) get is amazing. The animals needs truly do come first here, and I am so very proud to be associated with this wonderful Rescue.

This has to be one of the best run rescues around. It's professionally run with the horses being the reason and the horses being the priority. Their facility is clean, kept in good repair and most of all the horses on the property all look great! And they seem happy considering most of them have come from troubled and questionable pasts. Their goal is to get the horses back into a healthy and trusting state, then try to find forever homes that will give them security for the rest of their lives. And the guarantee that if for some reason that home doesn't work out, the horse will be brought back to the ranch. The ranch that the horses own! I don't donate to every cause, but being a horseman myself, I find this is one that's deserving of what ever I can assist with. They're appreciative with monetary donations as much as they are with physical donations such as pre owned tack. If you're a horse person, you need to check them out. Seriously.
I found out about Red Bucket through some friends who had donated tack to the organization. They invited me to a fundraiser night, and getting to meet the horses and hear their stories was incredibly moving. There are so many horses out there that need help, and the Red Bucket is a fantastic organization that is able to help a good number of those horses. I fully endorse this wonderful organization!
A barn friend recently introduced me to the Red Bucket organization and it redeems my faith in humans. Their people and facilities are just the ticket for the many horses who are severely down on their luck, and a welcome respite from all the disappointments that happen in the horse world and the world at large. The scope of what they are able to cover through their volunteers' tireless work is amazing. Until we can eliminate the need for rescue, rehab and forever homes, this organization is the best thing.
I was introduced to the Red Bucket Equine Rescue 2 years ago. This is a wonderful organization in the way that they care and love these often neglected and abused horses.
The facilities are magnificent and you get the feeling that each and every horse there realizes that it truly was given a second chance at life.
They do an incredible job in rehabilitating and finding these horses a forever home.
In the two years that I've had the privilege of being involved with Red Bucket, I am so proud and grateful to be a part of it. This fabulous organization have saved so many little horses lives and for this I am forever grateful. Keep up the good work!
Simply Outstanding!
It doesn't take long to discover how exceptional this nonprofit is. In its relatively short existence (2009), founder and president Susan Peirce has built Red Bucket into a leader among equine rescue organizations through her strong inspirational vision and unwavering commitment and dedication to its three-part mission: to rescue, rehabilitate, and find safe & loving forever homes for these beautiful creatures. First off, Red Bucket continually updates its results so you know it is serious about carrying out its mission and smart in how it does so. To date, 308 horses saved, 179 found forever homes. But that is only part of the story. I got introduced to Red Bucket as a fluke about two years ago when I invited myself to accompany some friends who went to Red Bucket to donate some used tack. Susan generously spent over an hour with us introducing us to the equine residents at this pristine facility. We heard one heartbreaking story after another of unfathomable abuse, horror, cruelty and neglect visited on these horses -so many from outstanding bloodlines of all sorts of breeds or with impressive show records - as we walked up and down the barn meeting them. And yet . . . even with these histories each horse eagerly came to meet us to maybe get a scratch or curiously check us out in case we had a treat. Feral abused mares who wouldn't - couldn't - allow human touch nevertheless allowed us to meet and scratch their foals. Well fed, bright-eyed inquisitive horses everywhere. So much hope. Everywhere hope.
After I got home that night I made my first donation to support Red Bucket's mission. That first visit stayed with me for days.
As I became more familiar with Red Bucket, I learned how hundreds of volunteers help with everything - from grooming or feeding the horses to maintaining the beautiful grounds to staffing information tables at horse expos and on and on and on. These wonderful volunteers are equally committed and giving. How last year several volunteers came together to donate their precious diamonds & jewelry to melt down and create a bespoke piece to auction off at the annual fundraiser. These are the volunteers who have helped make Susan's vision such an inspirational reality, a reality that I unhesitatingly support. Without reservation I can say Red Bucket is a truly exceptional nonprofit.
I visited the Red Bucket Equine Rescue last weekend for their fund raiser for the first time. I was very impressed with the organization and care of these horses. You could feel the love and caring of the staff and volunteers. This Equine rescue far exceeded my expectations. They are doing a wonderful job of rescue and rehabilitating these poor abused horses and giving them new hope. All of the horses that I saw on my tour seemed happy and well cared for. Great job!
I visited Red Bucket Equine for the 1st time at the Fund raiser last week. What a great facility!!! What a super group of caring people that take care of the horses!!! It appears to be very well run, with the health and well being of the horses in all they do. I would not hesitate to donate to this organization. You can truly feel the love for all their animals they are in charge of.
This is a very worthwhile organization! I attended their gala on Saturday, for the second year in a row. The care they give horses is really good. They save them from bad circumstances , while giving them a new life. If the horses can be adopted out, they find forever homes for them. The do good things for horses that deserve extra care. It is a very positive place for all involved.
My husband and I were introduced to Red Bucket by a dear friend, and have attended their Ruby Red gala two years in a row. The care they give horses is really amazing. They save them from terrible circumstances, often times from the brink of being slaughtered, and give them a new life. If the horses can be adopted out, they find forever homes for them. They have a lovely facility and it's all volunteer run. I can't say enough good things about Red Bucket Equine Rescue. The horses were all so loving too - we wanted to take them all home with us! Visiting their ranch is a special experience. Just seeing the horses is special enough, but learning about how they came to be there is often a heartfelt, poignant experience. Each horse is loved for who he or she is. A horse just couldn't ask for more.
Red Bucket Equine Rescue is an almost completely volunteer run rescue. There is one full-time paid trainer, but the volunteers provide the leadership, fundraising and daily care of the horses along with many other activities which make this very large rescue such a success. Led and founded by Susan Peirce, Red Bucket is committed to the horses first and foremost. The horses even own the Ranch they live on! I have volunteered with my teenage daughter for over 3 1/2 years on the nightly feed crew and deliver their "red buckets" love and care. We have participated in many of the volunteer activities at Red Bucket. My daughter adopted a Red Bucket Horse, Kingston, one year ago tomorrow. He is the love of her life and a wonderful horse. Red Bucket Equine Rescue has rescued almost 250 horses, donkeys and mules and place over 130 for adoption in forever homes.
