My son attends the recreational music center and I cannot say enough great, amazing things about it! Thank you RMC!!
My family has been loving the music classes, music lessons, and parents night out opportunities at Recreational Music Center since moving to San Diego just over a year ago. My 4 year old son has looked forward to every Musical Friends class with tremendous joy, and has been enthusiastically taking 1-1 violin lessons with Mr. Michael for a few months. My 8 year old daughter has been taking Music Theory class with Mr. David, as well as violin lessons with Mr. Michael, for nearly a year now. She truly enjoys her classes and lessons due to her wonderful teachers. She is proud to be "a violinist" and is happily planning her next performance. Teachers at RMC wear their enthusiasm and passion for music on their sleeves--and their excitement is contagious. I treasure the teachers' positive guidance and the warmth of the entire RMC staff. Their joy for what they do has been a gift to our family.
We've been receiving music lessons for nearly 3 years now. All the staff have been fantastic and very friendly. The parents love the Parents Night Out and the children love the seasonal music recitals, playing at senior centers, and the awesome summer camps. RMC does so much for our community and our children.
I would like to thank Recreational Music Center for giving me and my 5 year old son first violin lesson experience. We are taking lessons with Michael and he's absolutely wonderful. You can tell he loves what he does and strives for the success for his students. I highly recommend him and entire studio!!
I'm a new volunteer for their Music4Change program and I love it here! The staff is so nice and really inspires me to want to work with kids more. Right now I'm a student that is studying teaching. Every day I come to volunteer, I learn so much about life, love, and music. It is so wonderful to be involved with such passionate people that really care about community involvement! Today I set up a display that advertises our Autumn Outreach event. I hope you will join us for our community outreach events!
Both of my children take piano classes at RMC. The teachers are great and they have both enjoyed playing in the student showcases which are low-key but give the kids a chance to show off what they are learning. We've also had a couple birthday parties here which were a lot of fun!
Such great teachers and such a positive learning environment. Their style really promotes self confidence.
My son has been taking private piano lessons at RMC for almost 2 years, and my daughter just started at the beginning of this summer. Both kids look forward to their weekly lessons. I credit the wonderful instructors for making learning fun and interesting. They are incredible at working with kids of all ages and tailoring the lessons to fit each individual student's needs.
Whenever our friends ask about music lessons, I am quick to refer them to RMC as I know they will love it!
Thank you for existing RMC. The highly dedicated staff is not only teaching him to play the piano, they somehow use their magic so that he loves playing piano. Thank you for being professional, consistent and taking into consideration each person's needs.
As professionals in the field we've collaborated with RMC on a couple of occasions and have been so impressed with their high quality programs, friendly staff, and beautiful facility. They've also been generous in sharing their expertise. David and Leslie, the owners, are rare gems and truly care about helping communities and people through music.

Our family has been part of Recreational Music Center for over 3 years. Our children started with the early childhood programs and loved every minute of each lesson! Our son has been a part of private lessons and the bands/ensembles and absolutely loves it. The staff of RMC is supportive, professional and they make learning music fun. They use specific strategies and current methods to teach our children in a positive learning environment. I would recommend RMC to any and everyone in our community!
My family has been a part of the RMC family for 3 1/2 years now. My children have been involved in piano, drum, and voice lessons; also, camp and the toddler music class. RMC provides a loving, professional environment for all children to learn and grow. I admire David, Lesley and staff as they strive to make all our interactions with RMC easy. I recommend RMC to all my friends!
My sons were a part of the RMC family from the beginning. They provided my boys with a love for music and true appreciation for all kinds of music and instruments. I watched them grow and mature as there abilities to play a variety of instruments was fostered and encouraged. The RMC staff is professional and caring. They all demonstrate the ability to guide the students and create an atmosphere of care and concern. The summer camps are phenomenal and they provided my boys with volunteer opportunities that helped them mature and serve their community. I can say nothing but wonderful things about RMC. They are an amazing organization.
Our family has been with RMC since the beginning and it has been such a joy to see it grow into this beautiful music school providing students with such wonderful opportunities.
Both our sons have enjoyed being part of the bands and have taken private music lessons with RMC's fantastic teachers. When they were younger they both attended the great summer camps and over the last few summers our son has been a Counselor In Training. Currently our son is taking piano, drum, guitar and voice lessons. He is also a member of one of RMC's bands and all his teachers are top notch. Not only are the teachers extremely educated musicians, but they are also the nicest people and work so well with the students. Most of them are active musicians in their own bands or ensembles.
David and Leslie are always available and respond quickly to any concerns.
We hope to be a part of RMC for many more years to come and will enjoy watching the school continuing to grow.
My daughter has been taking guitar lessons with Recreational Music Center for two years and has been involved in one of their rock band ensembles. It's a great organization to foster the love of music in everyone involved and I really admire their community outreach efforts. Music is a healing and enabling factor in people's lives and it's so wonderful that RMC works to spread that in San Diego.
I am also personally taking guitar lessons there and have learned so much. I became part of a rock band there as well and it's like a whole new lease on life for me. It's so fun to have an avenue of expression to enjoy and share. I highly recommend RMC, their programs and their great staff.
My daughter has been taking piano for two years at RMC. David and the faculty are extremely passionate about enriching every child with musical talents! Because of RMC, my daughter was able to perform a beautiful piece at her school talent show! RMC Increases self esteem and confidence in children!
Love RMC,I have a special needs toddler that attends their program. They have been amazing giving him attention and finding ways to teach him love for music, amazing group.
A enrolled my two boys in rock band camp this summer. They not only had fun, they learned something too! Now they keep asking for music lessons. What a great place for kids of all ages to inspire the love of music. We will be back!
This is my daughter's seventh year taking music lessons at RMC. She has become an excellent musician. She has learned to play the cello, piano, and now the bass guitar for one of their rock bands. Her teachers are excellent and the opportunities are endless.
There are many things that we appreciate about the Recreational Music Center:
1. Responsiveness. We now have 2 kids taking music lessons at the school. Whenever we have a question, concern, scheduling change, etc., our emails or calls are promptly returned.
2. The teachers are qualified, interested, and will try and motivate/inspire their students.
3. There are opportunities beyond music lessons here: band, music theory, vocal events, and more.
4. We think it's an extra bonus that RMC is a nonprofit. When we read about the outreach programs and other efforts to help kids love music, we are proud that we support the org.
My son took a mommy and me music class at RMC. He loved dancing around and banging on the instruments. His sister fell in love with music too. I would recommend
RMC to parents with young kids. Professional and friendly staff provide children with a great introduction to music.
I started out with RMC as a camper at their summer camp for kids ages 4-12 about 3 years ago. I decided that I enjoyed playing piano (I had been playing for 8 years) but at the summer camp, my heart was always with playing guitar. I started taking guitar lessons with RMC's amazing staff members for 2 years, until one day at summer camp while I was a CIT, I was offered to be a bassist in a band by 2 other CITs. I decided to take bass lessons shortly afterwards. Thanks to the lessons, advice, and help of the RMC, we went on to play House of Blues San Diego, Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood, The Del Mar Fair, and numerous other large stages. Even after the break of the band, I am still good friends with the RMC staff, taking lessons weekly, and helping teach at the summer camp. The reason I stay with RMC is because they want to teach kids music through scholarships, lessons, and advice, no matter how much they can afford, because they believe that music is an important and positive force that can change a persons life. Because of the positive environment and help of RMC, They have instilled a love of playing music in my heart. Through RMC, music has opened up new opportunities for me and has changed my life for the better.
