Mission: The Recreation Council of Greater St. Louis is a not-for-profit organization that works to ensure that individuals with developmental disabilities are aware of and have opportunities to participate in recreation programs of their choice.
Results: The Recreation Council of Greater St. Louis was incorporated in 1983. Through our voucher programs and information sharing, hundreds of individuals in the St. Louis area are able to access recreation programs of their choice.
Target demographics: St. Louis City, St. Louis County and St. Charles County residents with developmental disabilities of all ages.
Direct beneficiaries per year: Over seven hundred individuals with developmental disabilities of various ages
Geographic areas served: St. Louis City, St. Louis County and St. Charles County, Missouri.
Programs: Information and Referral; newsletter and guides that highlight various recreation opportunities for individual with developmental disabilities; a Recreation Resource Library which includes an adaptive recreation loan program; voucher funding to assist individuals with disabilities in choosing leisure activities that best meet their interests and support needs; networking meetings between community-based and specialized recreation providers; trainings and more.
