Causes: Education
Mission: To sustain a comprehensive, long-term effort in mcdowell county, west virginia to make educational improvements and address the associated complex problems of poverty, drug and alcohol abuse, shortage of safe housing, limited medical services, and inadequate access to technology and transportation; all of which contribute to underperforming schools and the continuation of current conditions.
Programs: Renaissance village. The creation of an envisioned thirty (30) unit affordable living complex for teachers and other professionals sufficient to attract needed educators.
expanding student and adult learning opportunities, including establishment of family literacy centers, mentoring and internship programs,a backpack meal program, and other efforts aimed at improving condiitions in mcdowell county, west virginia.
